People yell at me all the time they say I AT (Auto-Target...why do we call something Auto-Aim when it is called Auto-Target in Sk...)...My bombs never miss with AT I lay them right ontop of people!!
Thats IT! IVE HAD ENOUGH!!!!
I used AA and I spammed my snarble barb to kill a person, who didn't complain...
It was my first kill of the whole match, and sadly was also my last kill T.T...
I had to spam my cloak to hide from the white toothpick knights patrolling like ravenous dentists...
...T3 match
Technically, everyone is spamming in LD. People spam their guns trying to shoot down the enemy, people spam their swords in calculated places where the electr-I mean enemy is at the highest probability, bombers spam their bombs to keep the recons away. If you aren't spamming in this zoo-like crazy PvP battle, you aren't winning (unless it's a farm-like battle).
If you break down the combat system of SK, it's pretty basic and uninteresting.
@Darkbrady You used the word teethpicks, in two separate posts. As I am typing this, there is a red squiggle underneath the word "teethpicks". Because you managed to do this twice, TWICE, your argument is invalid.
This isn't Tekken or Streetfighter, there is one move per weapon.
Swords: CLANG
Guns: PEW
Bombs: BOOM
If another player is better at executing the same, and only, moves you are capable of executing, this is your own problem.
Let's look at the origin of the use for the colloquialism SPAM:

The vikings were spamming the dialogue, thus making it impossible for others to continue the conversation. In no way does a player using their move prevent another player from using their own, with the exception of being struck by said weapons.
YES, that is right they are only preventing your move by successfully making their own. Sounds a bit like chess, it requires strategy. If you lose in chess, it is not from queen/knight/rook spam, it is because the other person was a better strategist than yourself.
DON'T BE UPSET BY THE RESULTS YOU DIDN'T GET WITH THE WORK YOU DIDN'T DO.
I am in no way a great ld player, average at best. If I lose, I know it is because the other person has put in their due diligence by developing the strategy and the skills necessary to properly execute their strategy.
You used the word teethpicks, in two separate posts
A toothpick is for picking a tooth. A teethpick is for picking teeth. I don't recall ever using a teethpick on a single tooth, nonono, it goes between two! O:
In no way does a player using their move prevent another player from using their own
Unless it happens to be one of [virtually every weapon in the game] that can interrupt other players.
Unless it happens to be a weapon that inflicts a shock/fire which will interrupt other players.
Unless it happens to KB them fifty million miles away.
Unless it happens to kill them.
#4 is maybe redundant, but the point is that even by your interpretation of it, people still do it. Gunners especially with alch-switching and antiguas, and any [person] in the game that happens to own a rare and fabled polaris.
Although, to be clear, I don't believe that it really matters. Ultimately, everyone spams, all the time. As you say, we only have one option and that requires repeated use to effectively achieve our goals of impaling our victims, and every time we try to come up with a more effective way of doing this, the more spammy it becomes (weapon-switching), so when people scream "spam" at someone, they're really just saying "oh, you attacked me? Well, now I'll attack you back in an equally or more spammy way", so I'm a believer that everyone should just stfu and play the game.
And not kill me.
The problem with LD is not spam itself. It's UNSKILLED spam. One thing is to use a technique that requires training and getting used to such as Shield Cancel or Fast Weapon(Alch) Switch (both can be defined as spam, no arguing). Another thing is going around comboing your AT'd sword and getting kills with it. It's not about damage, or kills. Just unbalance. This is discouraging to players, it makes players with potential to go with the easy choice. And it makes good players simply give up, since there will be little use to try most times. People can't simply play for fun and let others have fun too. Also, spam DOES exist. There just is the good kind of spam and the bad kind of spam.
About Auto Target(AKA AA): It's perfectly fine. You don't want to aim? That's ok. Saves you some trouble of pointing your weapon to the right place. But you will simply be less skilled then other players. There is less merit for your kills by the single fact that you share it with the game itself(that provides you with the AA). You probaly won't have the recognition of other players, mainly the skilled ones, in the LD field. If people like you for who you are, that's another thing. But if you do that and care about nobody or what they say, well... Congratulations, you're an @sshole that will be hated by everyone you fight.
Also, if you think (not even close to) deeply, the game restrains you to spamming. You can only fight with what you got in your hands in the moment enemies show up. You can only change if you return to your base or die. You cannot change to all your weapons due to restriction, only those you set up in loadouts. And your weapons have limited usage, to either a charge attack or a normal attack, even if hits from normal attack are different( you're still spamming a sequence of attacks, aka combo).
TL,DR: Deal with it, STFU, or GTFO (I mean it).
But you will simply be less skilled then other players
I'd think of it more as getting skilled slower than those who don't.
I use AA because I just plain miss with swords too much (don't get me wrong, I know I suck with swords, but) with latency issues and the like I have trouble actually landing hits on people, even from cloaked and right next to them. Having no AA doesn't get me better at dealing with latency and it doesn't get me better at landing hits. AA drags my pixels a half-step forward to land the hit in (sometimes) or just nudges me to the side to face my target that moved without my screen registering it yet. It has no bearing on my skill level because when I screw up, I die regardless of whether AA was on or not, and if I land a hit, I'm in (more or less) the right place anyways. It's just my buffer for latency, especially when I play on us server.
I've played LD games where I've been over 1sec behind the game; that is absolutely impossible for me to deal with, without just swinging wildly in all directions and hoping your range is greater than theirs.
To me, the discussion on AT has nothing to do getting noobs to stop using it.
Its a matter of morons claiming all players are equally skilled, AT-users clearly have significantly less skill than regular players. they get half the job done by a game setting.
ADMIT IT!
