Extending on 1 star weapons

I noticed that there are a lot of one star weapons that don't have upgrades. Some of these one star weapons have unique quirks that aren't shared by any other weapon, and I'd like to expand on that.
I am aware of the unwritten rule to upgrade lines:
Equipment that starts at 0 star can only go up to 1 star
Equipment that starts at 1 star can only go up to 3 star
Equipment that starts at 2 star may be upgraded to 5 star.

First off, a simple proposition: For the 1 star items that look nearly identical to their 0 star counterparts, have them upgrade from them. Makes sense, no?
This applies to the Pummel Gun, Super Stun Gun, and Heavy Hatchet. Super Slime Slasher, Rugged Robo Wrecker and Big Beast Basher are already like this, so I don't get why the difference.

Next, extending 1 star lines to 3 star:
Now the Shocking Edge and the Searing Edge already have 3 star counterparts, although not on the same line: the Shockburst Brandish and the Fireburst Brandish, so I can understand why they stop at 2 star. (regular and charge attacks are identical to that of a brandish) Say so if you think otherwise.

Firecracker and Cold Snap. These two bombs are damage bombs, with a chance to cause status. They're kinda a mid-ground between pure DPS bombs like the Blast Bomb and Reprisal Series, and status bombs such as the Haze series. I'd love to see these two bombs extended up to 3 star, even if the radius isn't as large as the Super Blast Bomb, with a higher status strength.
Something along the lines of "Bonfire" and "Incinerator", and "Frost Bite" and "Deep Freeze" for the Firecracker and Cold Snap 2 star and 3 star versions respectively.
Extending the Static Flash line is debatable, seeing as it's P2P, but since OOO has already done the damage with the Reprisal series, might as well :/
Can't think of any fitting names here.

Zapper and Frost Gun. These are 3 shot guns that inflict status and also knock-back, like a midway between the Blaster line and the Alchemers. These are definitely my favourite guns of all time. The damage doesn't necessarily have to match the blaster, neither does the knock-back, but a slight increase in damage and status strength would be amazing.
2 and 3 star variants could be called something like "Jolter" and "Thunderer", (and this one is an easy one:) "Ice Gun" and "Blizz Gun".

I can understand why the Bolted Blade is not extended, it is identical to the Brandish in both regular and charge attacks. However, although the Thwack hammer is very similar to the Troika, I still think that the Construct Bonus is enough to warrant its own line. I don't really have any good ideas for names for the 2 and 3 star versions, except for "Iron Thwack Hammer" and "Fang Thwack Hammer". (yeah, real original, I know) No suggesting silly things like "on the charge you throw it, meow meow meow" please, because we've all heard that a million times and I'd rather just have the mechanics identical throughout the line. (Unless OOO decides that this is a good idea, even in this case, I've already mentioned it so don't bring it up. I'd like to discuss whether extending these weapons would be a good idea, not how they would actually work)

Force Buckler and Scale Shield probably shouldn't be extended because they are identical to the Plate Shield and Defender. Should the Green Ward be extended to 3 star though? Or would that cause P2P/F2P rage?

Spiral Scale Mail and Helm probably shouldn't have upgrades due to it being identical to Cobalt Armor and Helm.

Should 0 star equipment be extended to 1 star? I'm talking about Groundbreaker Armor, Fencing Jacket, Vitasuit, Groundbreaker Helm, Mining Hat, Cyclops Cap and Iron Buckler

Why bother? Do you see anyone wearing- or better yet, seriously using, the 3* armor lines that stop there?

Considerin' how the Thwack

Considerin' how the Thwack Hammer is essentially a Heavy Hatchet with a Construct UV, I don't think simply giving it a line up to three stars would do it much justice.

Groundbreaker armor and Vitasuit should stay as they are.

What I'm more concerned about is the lack of Shadow and Piercing damage weapons for Tier 1, along WITH the lack of a Shadow resisting armor. I do think I'll work on that later!

@Fehzor
The utility of these weapons is quite misunderstood. They are also effectively employable in T2 PvP. I see an interesting number of early Tier 2 players using the Shocking and Searing edges, simply because there is no other Tier 2 sword that does not require CE to craft that can deliver elemental damage. These weapons fill in that gap that F2P T2 players have between getting their first full set of 2 star gear, and the long save up that it takes to get 3 star and 4 star.

You're probably pretty right there. Maybe a complete overhaul? Seeing as it has spikes on the face, it could be split piercing...

Special armor is unnecesary since enemies do mostly normal damage.

As I see it, letting newbies upgade their 1* will confuse them and they'll complain latter because they'll get stuck at 3* and no one warned them. (they SHOULD read the wiki and plan ahead, but only 1% of them follows those steps)

If we remove the 2* brandish and replace it with elemental variants, then you overlap with the Edge lines. And how do you get from Prismatech to Shadowtech? Or Shard Bomb to Dark Matter Bomb?

Better idea for the brandish: Remove the Fireburst Brandish, Shockburst Brandish, Iceburst Brandish, Nightblade, and Cautery Sword. Make the Brandish 3*, extend the Edge lines to 3* to match their respective armors, and make Edges branch from the proto sword. Also, add a Freezing Edge. And an ember gun. And make the corresponding guns and bombs stem from the proto stuff. Same for the armor.

Well that certainly is an interesting point. Does look pretty nice, too. But what about Bosco telling the player that they can branch weapons? What should he give them instead? An Autogun? No wait, what about if we brought back the haze bomb as a 2 star, and further elements started at 3 star!

@ OP

For the static flash upgrade why not the "Tesla Titan","Watt Wager","Paralyzer","Not so short circuit", I got more but I'm sure you can pick one of these.

For the zap gun why not just the "Shocker"? Thunderer sounds a bit... dumb.

Hex, I feel that we might want to change the thwacker hammer charge at least in the later upgrades.
Why and what to?
First off how I see it is the current charge for it is a simple move, that any one or any thing with it could think of doing. I mean I bet a kid would try it with one IRL. But that doesn't say "upgraded and stronger" that just says "simple brute force". I get that is how most melee weapons are but that isn't how I would describe how gremlins use it, they throw it at times, do combos and even a Spin. The spin attack tire 3 gremlins have is just the thing I think it should get as the latter charge attack because it mirrors the elite monsters who use it and it would be stronger and safer from a battle stand point. So it would be the smarter of the two attack options for the player, or fighter to use.

We could make the green ward get upgraded to the 3(maybe 2?) star tank shield.I can't think of the name sorry >_<

Should 0 star equipment be extended to 1 star? I'm talking about Groundbreaker Armor, Fencing Jacket, Vitasuit, Groundbreaker Helm, Mining Hat, Cyclops Cap and Iron Buckler
I feel that the groundbreaker armor is fine, as it really is just a costume at this point. The fencing jacket doesn't need it, we have wolver coats.Vita suits I feel need a full armor line from 2 to 5.Same statement as grounder breaker armor.Read last statement.Gunslinger hats.I just think this should get the one bomb CTR buff that people mentioned a while ago.

Hex linked this thread somewhere, then I posted here instead of there.

As to the Bosco question, he could give you the recipes for the Hot, Static, and Frost Edges.

Yeah but by then you've already got Cobalt gear, remember? And you are already given the hot edge recipe during the "welcome to haven" series of missions where you're taught about crafting.

The problem is, if something

The problem is, if something is craftable from 1*-5* you could craft 10 1* with the mist energy per day. The new orb crafting system fixes this issue, but i'm sure that we still won't have 1*-5* gear.

So what do you want me to do? Point me to a thread more recent than this that has more detail on this subject.

Can't do that? You want me to recreate the thread again with the exact same OP? What's the point of that? That just makes me look like a jerk since I'm deleting everyone's comments.

You gotta learn that forum guidelines are just "guidelines", and there are exceptions.

I can't delete the post. It's there now, I can atleast just get rid of what I put because it's pointless. This thread was in 2012 and was Necroed by Klipik. I then noticed the necro and though, well this is pointless. I might aswell just change my post.

"You want me to recreate the thread again with the exact same OP? What's the point of that? That just makes me look like a jerk since I'm deleting everyone's comments."

And why would you re-create it? It was Klipiks fault. This thread should be dead.

"Point me to a thread more recent than this that has more detail on this subject."

I don't understand why you're telling me to do this.

No, I necro'd the topic because it was relevant to a discussion on another thread.

Yeah I was a bit of a jerk in my last comment. What I meant was, I'm forever overwatching my threads. The topic never becomes "invalid" (if it did, I would graveyard it)
The reasons people are discouraged from necroing is usually because the opinions in the thread (especially the OP) don't necessarily reflect events going on current day, or because there is another thread (or another thread should be created) that contains more information.
However, I keep my threads updated, and both Fehzor and Juances (and possibly Alphastevo) are still active in the community

I should probably graveyard this idea though, it hasn't really received any surmountable attention.
