Can you guys find any references to other media in this game?
Ex: I have a gut feeling that Ghosts in the Machine was a reference to Ghosts in the Shell. I could be wrong.

A strange device used in gremlin machinery. It is inscribed with a warning against exposing it to direct sunlight or submerging it in water.
The game is full of references if you read the text. Just off the top of my head a ton of rank mission names, Callahan, various mats, etc. All I can think of in my half asleep stupor atm.

Sometimes, NPC knights in the Clockworks will say "I didn't ask for this." Normally, I would have imagined this to be a generic panicked grunt response, but the period at the end makes me think it's being said in Jensen's monotone.
Sooooo many Clint Eastwood References too! OOO sure do love Clint Eastwood for some reason. Nameless Poncho & hat, Senetenza, Callahan, Mega Magnus, the Justifier gear, and I think the hat of the Shadowsun line. Probably even more if I went and researched it.
you should already know this one
in mission rank 9-4 hall Of Heroes, NPC Hahn tells you this classic line,
"(your name) I thought you would be taller"
The volcanic demo suit refers to Demolition Man.
Highly protective gear for the cutting-edge demolition man. The internal cooling system makes you feel a little like you've been cryogenically frozen.
The reference that I caught onto quickly:
The rank 9-1 misson, "An Occurrence at Owlite Keep" is a reference to the civil war short story "An Occurrence at Owlcreek Bridge" by Ambrose Bierce.
Assault on Machine Shop 13 is taken from the title of a movie: Assault on Precinct 13.
Iron Slug
Only the most frightening of foes can withstand the crippling paralysis caused by the magnum force of the Iron Slug's sudden impact.
Gunslinger Sash
Clothing worn by pistol-packing warriors from a forgotten time. They smell of rawhide,
gun smoke and action.
Gunslinger Hat
A mighty fine piece of headgear worn by pistol-packing warriors from a forgotten time. It's perfect for dueling, searching or drifting across high plains.
Sunset Duster
A sturdy set of leather clothing made for a pilgrim with true grit.
Sunset Stetson
A sturdy hat for gunslingers that shouldn't cost you much more than a fistful of crowns.
Deadshot Mantle
A poncho for a pale rider with sights set on taking down
the bad, ugly, undead denizens of the dark.
Justifier Hat
A finely-made hat for handgun experts who think nothing of spending a few crowns more on a high-quality piece of gear.
Justifier Jacket
A finely-made suit for danger-seeking gunslingers who would much rather be quick than dead.
Shadowsun Stetson
A dashing hat for duelists who prefer to get their work done at midnight, rather than high noon.
Shadowsun Slicker
An evil duster that is said to harbor a great power that feeds off of the unforgiven sins of its owners.
Haha. +1 Derp, but +1 and 1/2 to Lanieu.
I could get into some more refferences, like how halo always makes an armor type that slightly looks like something from another game. Hyabusa = ninja gaiden, Security = marathon, Operator = splinter cell (in reach), Oceanic = bioshock, Venator = dead space. Something like that, but less obvious than the sonic helm.
In an interview somewhat recently, Nick referred to Spiral Knights as a 'love letter to all the old games he used to play.' So the list can go on and on. :)
The description for the Ash of Agni:
Once this bomb has left the battlefield in ashes, then, and only then, will your enemies have your permission to die.
Dark Knight Rises reference.
Unless they recently changed the description, the AoA was around way before the Dark Knight Rises...
The previous description was "A powerful alchemical bomb that creates a cloud of highly combustible, searing dust."
Then it should be on the wiki so that its neater, all in one place, and doesn't get necroed 50 billion times. If no-one makes it, I might.
Heavy Demo Helm
"A reinforced helmet that might be handy if you, the master of exploding, take it with you."
Reference to what Barry says to Jill in RE1 when he gives her lockpicks.
"Ghost in the Machine" actually refers to Rene Descartes' philosophical view that asserts the parallel interaction between body and mind. The materialist Gilbert Ryle coined the phrase as a means to disparage the ideas of those inclined to dualism, Descartes included.
The titular danger mission is a metaphor of this concept, which depicts the construct-type mobs you encounter there as having a "mind of their own." Can something physically synthesized as a computer have the same "consciousness" that we attribute to humans and animals who are essentially also synthesized?
Gonna drop these here:
Callahan.
You feeling lucky... punk?
The AoA did not always have a description, much like the Owlite Shield series.
Go to the wiki and go all the way down on a gear.It will sometimes have a section called "trivia" Example: http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Blackhawk
Yes, I was raised on old westerns. Does it show?
@Arctifice
I started on the TVTropes page for SK and ended up on My Life as a Teenage Robot. When it comes to time wasting TVTropes is almost as bad as Wikipedia -_-
Tvtropes is the pharaoh of wasted time. It sits atop its pyramid of tabs, administering judgement to its underlings, Minecraft, SK, and Wikipedia.
@Arctifice
Maybe I just have more self-control when it comes to TVT, but I've always found that the old adage of "I got on Wikipedia two hours ago to look up some random fact, and now I know all about the USSR" has been pretty much spot on for me. That and the old game of "How many first links until you get to Philosophy" make it an amazing time waster.
EDIT: In case you were wondering, Spiral Knights is 14 links from Philosophy.
@Hexzyle
Agreed. Not just here, but across the internet as a whole.
Surprised nobody's mentioned the mission "Time enough at last", yet.
Oh, and the description for Super Crystal Bomb.
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this yet
The Polaris is a reference to an actual star. Polaris ^^ Which is more commonly referred to as the North Star =) It is arguably one of the most bright and useful star (next to our sun) in the night sky.
@Zeddy
That could be one too =) But I'm pretty sure a lot of these references weren't actually intended =)
Nick, out of curiosity... Was the blaster series based on Megaman's buster by any chance? Because the normal and charged shot always makes me remember of him; Plus Valiance aside they kinda remember the gun that Bad Art Megaman uses.
Last Christmas, when monsters were given little text-clouds, constructs got 'EXTERMINATE!', from the Daleks.
<3 DW
I don't think anything is based on video games (Besides Sega) just mostly film, astology, and geography. Also nerfguns.
I think it's more likely from this game.
Oh, and when I read the Heavy Shard Bomb description, I can't help thinking of Pinky-Pie.
The voltedge can produce a 1.21 gigawatt discharge.
Back to the future reference.
I know a lot more but I only want to say one.
