Should we start using Guild Hall Training Hall dummies to collect damage numbers?

They may not tell the whole story, but it'd allow for very easy data gathering. Considering how a lot of weapons have outdated damage numbers in the wiki, it seems like it'd help.

It would also make it realistic to gather data for various damage bonus levels.

This was pretty quick to do, for example.

Edit: Okay I did that.

I'd say yes, just be aware

I'd say yes, just be aware that the damages are scaled to Depths 4, 13, and 23, depths where you would almost never actually fight in. But it's good reference.

what's the depth?

It would be useful, if we could figure out what depth it's at.

Donkeyhaute and I have recently been collecting detailed damage numbers like this, in the Clockworks. I guess now is a good time to mention it. Maybe we can compare to yours.

A thing to note: if you want

A thing to note: if you want to actually fight on those depths, your options are limited, but certains do occur on them. I think Rise or Fall goes on D13 and you can just check the game map for missions that go over 23, there're at least 1-2 of them.

thanks

Thanks, Flowchart. I haven't been in one since the first week of their availability.

I agree that gathering damage data from guild halls is a great idea. The depth should be appropriate to the weapon. I'm highly interested in 5-star weapons at depth 23, but not at depth 13.

I will be starting a page

I will be starting a page documenting as such. Please pm me the info you get in game, starting with 5* swords!
Thanks,
Shadowknifer.

if you're posting it on the wiki

If you're going to post the data on the wiki, you might want to grab the wiki markup from the Lancer Knightz damage tables for depth 19 or depth 24. They've already typed out all combinations for most of the swords and handguns; you just have to remove their numbers and fill in your own.

I gathered all the numbers,

I gathered all the numbers, with help from a lot of friends. I'm thinking of going through all the pages for 5* weapons and filling in the damage numbers in a slot between depths 5 and 6, labeled "GTH."

How's that sound to everyone?

Edit: It seems like these tables have a very rigorous structure and I can't make new or label columns?

yeah, table format is specific

Yes, I think that the table formatting template that's being used will not let you just add another column. You'd have to rewrite the table to use some other template. Hmm.

For now, I've copied the Lancer Knight's table and replaced it with GTH numbers.

I'll do guns and bombs tomorrow.

nice

Nice work. Donkeyhaute (of Lancer Knightz) will love this, I bet. Now we can directly compare depth 23 to depth 24, and maybe tease out how damage increases with depth.

I think you'll find a lot of misinformation comparing D23 to D24.

I've gathered numbers for BAB for every single floor to get wiki numbers (also thanks to Tohlevi, who checked Tier 1 for me), and if you look at the amount it increases by depth, D23 is within stratum 5, not stratum 6.

Try doing comparisons with D19 instead.

Accesibility

We seem to now have a lot of very valuable and precise data. Is there any way we can make it more easily findable by the general public? A link on the wiki front page for example?

no, but elsewhere

I don't see how any of these data collection projects merit links on the front page. On the other hand, they could be linked from the articles "Damage" and "Abilities", and they could be linked from each individual weapon's article. For example, someone shopping for Nova Driver might be interested to see how its damage scales up with damage bonus.
