If you play against random teams, how do you avoid pubstomping? Do you avoid pubstomping? Do you say that having an organized team should dominate random teams? Would custom teams allow for custom game/party options? If yes, would the other team have to accept those options?
Answer those questions, and then I'll +1 this.
Pubstomping by definiton cannot happen in random matches. Pubstomping is when a pre-organized team goes into a random space and decimates groups of randoms. Right now, that can't happen in LD because the teams are random vs random. If you let it become team vs random, that becomes a possibility. And a lot of new players that don't have a team might quickly get fed up by being beaten by orgainzed teams, and quit.
Are you saying that this is ok? I'm not saying it's not, I just want your opinion before I support this.

Lockdown teams is what i was waiting for since i first played LD! The only way i can play with my friends is registering at the same time and hoping that we will get matched in the same game :/ +1. I hope they release a patch for this
i will support this as long as we are facing team versus team battle. organize teams should not face randomized teams. The team versus team battle in my perspective would be a lot slower in forming matches then the randomized teams, but having the option to have a team match would be great for me. so as i stated above, as long the matches can only be team versus team or guild versus team battle, that is when i will suport this.
Although it would defeat the purpose of LD as random and unknown people coordinate to win but this could be good.I really hate the fact that i am the only guy with 3* gear and all the others are 2* noobs who have toothpicks and spam them around really kills you.Might i make a suggestion that the Team Leader would have a coloured name above his head saying "LD Team X" and inviting anyone interested in joining the team and if some leaves after the match they would all spawn in one place and invite another guy to the team.
So it's gonna be all outrageous war between the pros.. fair enough
"Pros" vs Pros, and "noobs" vs noobs. It isn't fun for either party to play against each other - the good players get bored because of the lack of challenge, and the new/not as good players get bored of being roflstomped.
I'm saying, the system is good the way you have it because you won't get those awkward situations where there is a team of good players versus a team of bad players.
Its not an awkward moment look at GvG there are good guilds with good players then there are guilds with noobs so if they come across eachother you will know where the body count will be high.
good thought. needs more thinking out though.
Noob teams. see Rabeet-Ahsan's reply (#15).
My idea to fix is simple. Stratum based teams at specifed sizes. simple.

Why not just invite your friends into your guild for a game or two and then have them go back to their respective guilds afterwards?
Mostly, without the inconvenience of everyone having to switch guilds to make a full team. There's also accept/deny match mechanics, and you can pick what team you're VS-ing.

Yay. That's the stuff I don't like.

I think that the con of this idea is the fact that if the roommaster doesn't let certain people in, they will never be able to play, because they A: have bad weapons and armor or B: everyone knows that they suck (sorry to those that I just dissed... didn't mean to). But maybe that's just me. I'm just a stupid gunslinger (apart from my picture XD).
@Blue
That's the point, people can assemble their best team, and fight head on with another group of pros
I was just in a random team with people who were... trying to lose. (Or more precisely, 'practicing dodging and capping' ... by not using their weapons. Which naturally resulted in -losing-.) When the rest of your team tries to lose you can't win. Also have been in the past in... horrible noob teams.
(Note: The 'unmark for PvP' mechanic... it SUCKS. Loadouts should be UNMARKED by default. This single mechanic makes Lockdown unpopular because people trying to play T1 for the first time invariably end up in the wrong Tier and never play again after being stomped, and means unlucky people end up with a team of weaklings who have -no- clue how to play and aren't equipped for it even if they had a clue.)
Any-way. some sort of team mechanic is really needed, or else people have to leave their guild and join dedicated lockdown guilds, which they can already do but the general consensus is obviously that lockdown is -not- the most important reason to join a guild. Which means that interesting, skilled vs. skilled lockdown is a fringe activity when it could be mainstreamed with some kind of team mechanic.
Also, as a non-officer I can't invite people just to play lockdown, and even if I was an officer my guild would... well... I'd have to go through a debate first, because it's never been done before to invite people into the guild (giving them access to guild hall, guild chat, guild storage, mist well, etc.) just to play lockdown.
In short, you shouldn't have to bring people into your guild just to form a party with them for a different part of the game than clockworks runs. Saying you -should- have to basically the same as saying you -should- need to be guild officer to play the whole game.
there's still Random games. This is just for people who want to play with their friends.
Also, @OP: Can we organize uneven matches? like 2v6? or even, maybe, 1v11?
How about the team lobby GUI thing having a list of current teams with player names, and the possibility of inspecting their final loadout, and then requesting a match with them? That way, all LD matches could be more 'balanced', but by the players, not the game.
now that we cleared up all the issues I had with this, +1

Isn't this why Guild Lockdown was created?... I'm sick of seeing people support too much ego in Lockdown. Just use what you have. Even if it's not 100% what you want. The fact that you want it YOUR way is your ego kicking in. Honestly I'm sick of it. ._. I'm not going to -1 considering none of my threads have been supported in the past... So I'll just be nice.
The suggestions forum isn't about "OOO, put this in". Most of the time. It's supposed to be more like "OOO, here are some problems we have with stuff/new content ideas that we think should be considered as improvements to the game". If we had it YOUR way, the only suggestions would be for new content, and nothing would ever get fixed. In this case, this gets around the problem of having to invite people to your guild, have subs, etc. It's a convenience problem, and there's nothing wrong with adding this in.
Ahh, but that's the spirit of Lockdown!
Noobs rage quitting, pros with overinflated egos (and damage counts).
While I commend you, OP, for the idea (sounds similar to parties in clockworks/missions), such a division would cause many problems to the Lockdown community
For starters, some players (yes, most likely noobs) will have a hard time finding an organized team. This basically limits your suggestion to pros, and may cause some rage kicking, discrimination, etc.
Also, taking people away from Random Game Lockdown will divide the community and make finding matches harder for everyone.
My only suggestion probably has been stated before by others, but...
Stick to GvG for organized games. Join a dedicated Lockdown guild (try Celestial Vanguards, Jempire, etc etc. Basically, just look at leader board teams and try to join one)
An unfortunate -1 from the T2 Lockdown Fiend
@Klipik
Everyone has an ego even me. I just don't like supporting it. Why not focus on something more important? Like weapon balancing or new content?
OOO doesn't have to notice this now, but we as posters can focus on more than one thing at a time. I only say to focus on something else when the something else would have a direct effect on the thing at hand. For example, when someone suggests PvP ranking, I say "balance the game, then worry about who's better."
So what you are saying is you want to be able to pick your own lockdown team by inviting players to join you. sure why not.. +1
