I think we can let grown up monster pockets to normal monsters.
To me lab sounds like "research".
Dunno, throw minerals, wait a few weeks and they give you an UVd weapon or a key for a special mission.
We could (or not) do some things in a lab
-Grow the puppies with some kind of tamming/food creation.
-Create materials.
-Create keys (including, one day, in some years, the core key).
-Maybe merge accessories (or create a random one with 2 or more of them).
-Maybe create UV cupons.
-Maybe none of the above.
I heard the game mechanics will be totally different in the upcoming big update (which is undetermined ofc)
Somebody pointed out to me the knight in the Core who has 2 swords so he kept on wishing for dual-wielding but who knows what will happen?
And that may just be rumors from the french server so... :S
HexZyle is sick of this same thread recurring over and over again every 48 hours ever since the lab was added.
EX: Shadow lair keys, each with 1000's of materials and CE and crowns
EX 2: Making a Benightz is impossible to make
I'm kind of hoping that the lab will be some type of level design system. I would like to try designing some levels and playing other peoples' levels, too.
On the other hand, I also enjoy crafting stuff, so if it's related to crafting, that would also be great.
Maybe Nick watch this and read ideas for lab...
The Garrison Lab is for the new battle sprites, there is going to be more that you can do in the lab as well, but that so far is currently unknown
BATTLE SPRITE BREEDING
and, by extent, lots of new rule 34 possibilites.
well, it had to be good in some way, didnt it?
Gonna guess Battle Sprites, even before when I saw these posts. BTW I hope the core never opens because then there will be no purpose to the game then. (Unless once you complete it and the only way to exit is to quit the game, meaning that the game can "never" be completed. Like if you played SM64 or LoZ OOT once you finish the game it ends and the only way to get off it is the restart the game, meaning that the game can never be finished.) But yeah then there wouldn't really be any goal to this game - keep it a mystery! >:D
I don't know much about these battle sprites but I reckon there could be an alchemy machine for upgrading them to 5*.
i'll be honest, I don't like the idea of Battle Sprites. They sound like OP bots that will walk you through every level. The game is easy enough already (but it's still extremely fun, don't get me wrong).
@Shamanala You mean Vaelyn? And it's a she
It's where we will choose our 1st Starter Spiralmon,
And maybe the place where we meet our Rival Spiralmon Trainer.
You will indeed choose your first battle sprite within the Lab after completing the required missions.
As for the rival trainer, he's waiting for you on a plateau outside Haven :)
...where he will choose the battle sprite naturally stronger than yours in the combat triangle.
Will these missions only be for vanguard if so how do you think New players will react not having a pet until like a year.
The missions are early on. You'll get a sprite shortly after arriving in Haven.
If I recall correctly, the missions come early on, and players who have gotten further than the sprites will get to play these missions. (If it makes sense, even though we are many ranks higher, Vangaurds will have a 'gap' in the new missions, so they will have to go through them like new players will have to.)
Atleast this is what I think it is.
Yeah, check here first if you have questions, there have already been a ton answered: http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/72310
But anyway, a new question: Will battle sprites be in addition to dash n bash, or will it remove/hinder them in any way? I'm kind of worried about the sudden increase in the number of buttons needed to play the game.
Sprite skills will be available on top of the already available dash and bash. You'll be able to configure the keys however you like of course. In our own testing it's not too difficult to execute sprite skills while doing everything else, especially since many of them are either fire and forget or move with you in some fashion.
Will battle sprites be able to keep up with you because I'm thinking that a bug might happen in which yo sprites stops where it is. Lol just a guess
That actually doesn't sound so bad... The only other thing I'd ask would be whether there are any plans regarding the inevitable power creep of making the knight even stronger?
Gshockhawk: When directed to use a skill sprites will stop following you to execute the skill but promptly catch up with you when done. They'll never get caught on walls or anything like that.
Fehzor: We definitely have something planned to challenge knights who have mastered all these new found abilities we're creating. More on that soon.
Well yeah,
But won't that leave the existing content a bit... lackluster in comparison? I suppose that since the game is entirely linear in its progression (since the missions force players to play through the game in that way), it doesn't really matter so much if the jelly king is suddenly less of a challenge, when players will have something better to look forward too.
I'm mostly asking because it was one of the larger and more valid concerns expressed by most of those "You should put pets int the game!" threads that the forum regulars ripped to bits.
Are the sprite skills press-to-attack or toggle mode... howdoiexplain... erm..
Does Seraphynx attack or just shield the party?
How many battle sprites will there be in the far future?
Sprites use their skills when you want them to, via a key press.
Unless things have changed, which is more than possible.
Fehzor: Can't talk about what we've got just yet or a Ghostmane Stalker will be waiting at my house tonight, but we're hoping it begins to address specifically what you're describing.
Qwote: Sprites require a button press to execute any of their skills. As for future counts, see the aforementioned Ghostmane Stalker.
Actually no questions. For the first time since i started i'm actually looking forward to playing with new content. I want it to be a nice surprise!
Keep it up guys!
Alright. Good to know that you guys do have a plan for this.
I'm definitely looking forward to whatever you guys have come up with... probably even more than battle sprites themselves XD
Nick knows my name !!!!!!!!!! * faints*
:l thanks alot nick now I am disappointed cuz that was the high light of my life, I have no life :O
^You're supposed to post "Smell ya later"...
Thought of another question: How big of a material sink will the battle sprites be exactly? About the same as the weapons (as in, takes relatively few materials) or more along the lines of the guild hall boss trophies (takes a decent amount of mats)?
They will be a pretty big material sink, but other systems will be changing alongside their arrival that support this design.
Another question will battle sprites have ranks like knights are do you level them up like weapons of some sort ?
Huh. I've always seen materials as being kind of... ridiculously plentiful. Like, the first couple of days in game you might have trouble with mats, but after that, there are only one or two mats actually worth finding/buying, the rest are just used for rage crafting. And then the whole "buy it with sparks" thing has an impact. Of course, you probably don't mean "more materials will drop" by that.... and now I'm scared that my material collection will become worthless after this XD
EDIT:
Oh, and Zeddy wants to know of battle sprites will have arbitrary hit limits.
Will Battle Sprites be available in Lockdown?
Or is there going to be a new PvP game where sprites play a major role?
Or maybe there will be no changes at all...
@Reto-Da-Liz
I don't know about you, but that's gonna be a lot of Dragons/Ghosts/Mewkat-thingies (not bothered to use their proper names :P) flying around :P
@Nick
Just out of papaya-rosity, do we get to pick the colors of our Sprites? :3
Props to Nick for answering our many questions :D
Will your battle sprite change its apperance depending on what materials you "sink" into it?
Example: will the drakon change from a "Red" color to a darker or "black" color?
Also will there attack styles change depending on the materials as well?
Glitchespixel: They will be the same color as your personal color and no their attack style will not change.
"especially since many of them are either fire and forget or move with you in some fashion."
" We definitely have something planned to challenge knights who have mastered all these new found abilities we're creating"
Ummm... This sounds great, yay having a challenge and all, but I'm worried about how those two things would work together. If most of the abilities are fire-and-forget, that probably means they either do straight damage or give you some sort of buff, right? If you "master" that, all you should get is more longevity and more dps. Which doesn't seem to correspond to a very fun "challenge". A challenge for someone with more DPS and more buffs would be... More enemies with more damage and more health, or more random actions. More fake difficulty. I'm hoping it's something more than that? Because that sounds like the crowds in the danger missions, with twice the enemies that do twice the damage with twice the health. Which is a bad thing.
Please tell me/us it's not just that.
The lab will open when the core opens.
