Pre-nerf, retrodes if your party wasn't aggressive enough. Let enough of them get in range with their beam attack and they would bombard you to death. Your only hope was using the post-res invincibility frames to rush past the lasery doom and break the blockade.

Now devilites, but only because their attack timing is...wrong. Ranged attacks occur faster than the animation would suggest while melee attacks are slower. Easy to account for with only a few, but I find them sneaking in shots whenever I have to deal with larger groups.

Where all da Kats at?

In lower tiers, I despise the kats. They gain a shooting ability earlier on, move rather radically and gain the ability to add a bit of a lunge to their bite. Worse is like the greavers, they like to come in groups. Just like lockdown strikers! -bricked for bad ld joke on non ld thread-

The hardest monsters (that I can recall)

Pre-nerf T3 Wolvers and Phantoms weren't a problem. Back in the day I used to easily clear out T3 graveyards and wolver dens solo with T2 armor, a valiance, and a high tier shield (of any type.) I know why phantoms got nerfed though. When in a party of four, pre-nerf phantoms took way too long to defeat. This meant that that one would come back to life about as fast as you could defeat the other three. But, you could still deal if you had one person on reaper detail while the rest continued ahead. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. (:

Anyway, back when I had lag of a little over a half a second, devilites were the worst enemies for me. This is because they had unpredictable attack patterns, they had range, AND they had an attack animation faster than my lag. This meant that the server would occasionally register a hit before I knew an attack was thrown. I eventually learned how to deal with them. I learned to stay far away from them, shield often, keep moving, and snipe them from a distance. I also learned to fire one bullet at a time around them. It doesn't matter if you are using an antigua or an alchemeter, if you fire two or more bullets at a time then you will get hit.

Greavers were also bad pre-nerf. I could kind of deal with them by running back while attacking fowards. That usually canceled their attack animations. But, if I was just a little slow, I got stun locked and wound up dead. While in groups, the best plan for dealing with them was to use one person as bait, then attack the bats as they swarmed the bait. Hopefully you managed to beat them before your team member died.

I heard that pre-nerf T3 oilers and quicksilvers were absolute nightmares. I don't know if it's true as I got to T3 after they got nerfed. But, legend has it that, after numerous complaints by the community, Nick spent some time in the danger room with these things. Shortly thereafter an announcement was made that they were going to get seriously nerfed.

Of the current monsters, I'd say T3 rocket puppies are pretty hard. It's hard to outmaneuver the rocket, they hit for a ton of damage, AND they set you on fire. It's even worse when you're dealing with a large group of mobs and rocket puppies at the same time. I always shudder when I see one of those things pop up.
