OOC: Scarlet accepted, Vog rejected. Unfortunately, if you phase to Vog from now on, he is mine, kinda. (Seeing how I based this on Vog) Well, actually, you can use him somewhat
The Fangs Roleplay [FIN.]
((OOC: Understood. Whenever Gwen turns into Vog, I will leave control of Vog to you. But I still think he should look like a Balrog. If the size of his fangs is to scale, he's a lot bigger than Vanaduke. I will leave Vog's speaking and action roles to you; I will limit my control of Vog to anything he would instinctively do (like if doused with a large amount of water, he'd probably block and back off). If I breach that limit, feel free to overwrite (e.g., "that didn't really happen"), and I'll try not to challenge it.))
((EDIT: the app has been edited to state that it is for your usage.))
((EDIT2: I'll use Vog when action is needed. Feel free to overwrite.))
@Thin with post 148, Skolvers are NOT Snarbolaxes. That is just...WRONG XD! And my Father is just called Father Snarbolax, seeing as he was born of the Core and Alice's madness rather than have parents that could NAME him...XD.... Because if you think 'bout it, why would the Gremlins, a HIGHLY developed race, name their person after one of the Wolver Race? XD....And I honestly have no idea what infected Wolver you are referring to...
BIC: I open my eyes slowly just in time to see my Father disappear. I see the white Knight doubled over slowly being partially possessed by Vog...I bring myself to my feet and stumble over back to the water. I dip my fingers in, and renew my power once more. I turn around, and face Gwen. If it wasn't for the Red Queen that had birthed Vog and taught him how to manipulate the Swarm so long ago, this wouldn't have happened...
I raise one of my arms, a thorn flying up from my back and landing in my hand as I brandish it towards Gwen. I harden and expand the fur on my other arm into a shield of sorts. This is my domain. Vog won't EVER mess with my domain.
I run at Gwen, ready to fight for my home.
My Sanctuary.
If you use Scarlet, since she is the Red Queen and that relates to my fanfic, I BEG OF YOU, JUST HAVE SCARLET AS AN AVATAR FOR THE RED QUEEN, PWEEEEASE O-O
EDIT: Sorry, actually READ her bio and saw nothing of the Red Queen, carry on *hits own head with Chromalisk for own stupidity*
((OOC: I know a lot of folks associate Skolvers with Frostifurs, but seeing as Vog Cubs and Snarbolaxes are larger beasts, it occurred to me that a Skolver might be more than just an overpowered Frostifur. It may be an albino Snarbolax; you gotta admit that's plausible. They even grant the same damage bonus and have a status resistance in common.
Since I didn't read your fanfic, I had no idea who the Red Queen was, and had to adapt. As you can see, I figured she should be some kind of mother figure to the Swarm (which, as you may recall, is said to have no creator). I don't mind her being an avatar for her true form; heck, I wouldn't mind if you controlled her. She's not yet an important character to me, so I can hand her over if you like. I'd be interested to see how you use her.
But see, as I consider this a standalone fanfic, I see no reason to sweat over how familiar characters are portrayed elsewhere. Just have fun, and don't worry about it too much! :D))
((By the way Vin, it's now Vog's time to shine! Let's see an epic duel between him and Seatus!))
BIC: Gwen suddenly disappeared as a vast, hideous figure took her place. It almost seemed as it the Clockworks dome wouldn't be able to contain it. One has to wonder how such a vast creature got contained in such a small, frail form. The creature had to be several times larger than Seatus, and maybe two to three times larger than Vanaduke. Curiously, it was toothless, but then Jak realized that this was because all his fangs were stolen. If he ever got them back...no, perish the thought.
Jak ran up to it and tossed a nitro up in the direction of its head. Goodness knows what he meant to accomplish; the creature was taller than Jak's arm could toss a bomb. "H-hey Vog! Up here! Aren't you a little short to be looking down on me?"
OOC: Vog is by nature, overpowered. Treat him as if he's impossible to beat, and give your best shots! The fight will last two days.
Theo suddenly opened his eyes, he could see the familiar demo he met before.... That knight handed him few bright shards from his pocket, "Crush them together and eat them."
Suddenly, Theo's attention was caught by a girl who touched his cheeks... Strangely, he felt a sudden burst of pain and fell to the ground, writhing in agony he never felt before... Not even the Fang had ever drive him into this severe state of pain...
"It burns! It BURNS! MAKE IT STOOOOOOOOOP!!!!" the voice returned to his mind, this time in pain and agony. "MAKE IT STOP! MAKE IT STOP! MAKE IT STOP!!!" the voice continued to screech, "THE LIGHT, IT BURNS, IT BURNS, IT BURNS!!!"
"Just.... Shut up already!" Theo scream as he crushed the light and blue shards he was given, he spread the smoothed crystals on his left cheek and the pain slowly disappears... What could have possibly done it?
"The pain.... It burns..." the eerie voice squeaked and silenced again, "What on earth...." Theo groaned as he touched his cheeks, there were no burn marks or any signs of attacks.... It just... burns.
Theo turned his back to see the girl who had rushed over the elevator.... Could it possibly be her? Theo thought as he watched the girl pressing the elevator's button. It was Theo's fault to begin with for crashing down with the elevator....
Suddenly, a creature, as black as the night rushed it's way towards the girl's, this creature was the creature who Theo felt it's presence.... "Ah....If it isn't the Snarbolax... I dare say that the creature will be a major... Influence to complete our goal..." the evil voice returned back to his mind. "The girl will be dangerous.... do not get in contact with her... due to my... I meant OUR situation... But I suggest that you should sit this one out, you will be nothing but a burden to them all... Especially to Vin..."
For the first time, I actually agreed to that annoying voice in my mind.
((OOC: I find it odd that the knights feel terrible whenever Gwen touches them. She's supposed to be a "good guy," and a kindly person. She'd frankly be heartbroken if she learned that she hurt them.))
BIC: Jak awoke and rubbed the sore on his head. There were ashes on his palm. He had been tossed aside by Vog - and was still alive! But Seatus and Skolver were engaging the beast, and were having a difficult time at it. Jak decided to help. He found his Shivermist and planted it at Vog's massive feet. It put out the fire briefly, but didn't freeze his foot in place. He jumped and rolled as Vog's foot moved in response to the cold.
Gwen was miserable. She could do absolutely nothing while she watched Vog attack her heroes. But then it occurred to her that if the other beings inside her could challenge her, why couldn't she return the favor? She began speak to Vog inside his head, challenging, taunting, and engaging him in an attempt to distract him from his fight.
Maybe she should start screaming at him. Nobody she knew could last long while a nearby woman screamed.
OOC: Sorry that I surprised you, I should've explained that Theo could be easily injured by Gwen's kind.... Gwen didn't really hurt anyone, it's just that Theo isn't any ordinary knight and that any 'light' could hurt him severely... Because his shadow had re-awakened. Anything other than that would be spoilers now wouldn't it? So once again, sorry that I haven't explained previously.
I run at Vog, his imposing form growing by the minute. I jump atop his head, my feet engulfing themselves in flames. I stab his hide, and I know it's a miracle that my thorn is able to pierce his strong hide. My feet barely start heating up as Vog swipes at me. I duck his swipe and stab again. Thorns explode from the inside to the outside of him. I jump down and expect his fall to follow, but I am met with more roaring. I turn and see that the holes in his hide fill themselves up and heals him once more...
I send wave after wave of thorns flying into Vog. He just seems to absorb them like water being disturbed by a stone. Wait, water! I run and dip my hands back into the water and spin around, dropping my thorn-sword and my skin-shield returning to normal skin. A blast of water explodes from the pond around the Structure. I give my friends time as I pass out from yet more exhaustion.
((OOC: Theo isn't the only one negatively affected by Gwen. Vin's arm, which Gwen healed, grew unnatural fur on it and felt like it had "hundreds of needles" in it. There should have been no negative effects, unless the fur came from another source.))
((Also, the shards should have dwindled the shadowy voice in Theo's head. Vog is fire-themed, which corresponds to crimsonite, and the shadows correspond to dark matter. Their opposites (for the purposes of gate construction) are moonstone (freeze) and luminite (light), respectively. Assuming the voice in Theo's head is related to Vog and is a shadowy being, the shards should have directly impacted the influence of both the voice and the curse of Vog in general. The light shards would have undoubtedly stung something awful, if your analysis of Theo's reaction to light is accurate.))
Jak would not be deterred. He planted two more bombs at Vog's foot, successfully freezing it for a moment. A moment later, Vog "nudged" Jak aside (which sent him flying) and set him on fire. Jak dashed to the pond and doused himself before returning to the fight. He had an idea; what if he could plant a Shivermist inside one of Vog's limbs? He looked at Seatus, who was now unconscious and about to fall off. It dawned on Jak that Seatus might have created open wounds on Vog, which he could use to implant Shivermists.
He charged up a Shivermist, swung onto Vog's moving foot and planted it. Once it exploded, he furiously scrambled up Vog's leg before it caught on fire again. Narrowly dodging Vog's attempts to brush him off, he made it to the head and quickly planted a few Shivermists in his open wounds before Vog could knock him off. The fall took its toll on Jak, and he became unconscious yet again.
((OOC: Since Vinnydime isn't being sufficiently active in controlling Vog, I'll handle it for now. @Vinnydime, feel free to overwrite Vog's actions anytime you feel like it. I won't complain.))
Furious that these little creatures were successfully beating him, Vog redoubled his efforts and superheated the fire on his skin. A steam explosion (from Seatus's fountain splash) caught him off guard and injured his back. He took Seatus off in his vast hand, crushed him in it as hard as he could (very difficult, and injurious to his hand due to snarble thorns), and threw him off the platform. Suddenly, a searing chill went through his head, and he reeled in pain. He didn't remember what those bombs were called, but he didn't care - the offender had to die. He guessed that the little green knight lying on the ground was probably the guilty party, and tried to stomp on him, but a piercing shriek inside his head startled him before he could have his kill. Darn! There was another soul living in his head! There was nothing he could do about it.
Injured and enraged, he looked to take it out on some other poor soul. He found just what he was looking for: a young knight in a hood, cowering in fear (OOC: not really, but that's how he perceived it) and trying to hide. He then became aware that this knight was supposed to be some kind of ally. Perhaps Vog's fang had gotten to him. The little jerk deserved it for keeping his fang from him. He decided to toy with the knight a little bit.
"HA HA HA HA HA! SO, YOU HAVE MY LEGENDARY 'TOOTH OF THE ALMIGHTY VOG'! HOW DO YOU LIKE IT, MORTAL?" Not waiting for an answer, he taunted him further. "ARE YOU PITIFUL KNIGHTS THE CHOSEN HEROES OF THE CORE? WHAT ARE YOU, INSECTS? YOU'RE FAR TOO SMALL TO HANDLE ONE SUCH AS ME! GO HOME AND CRY. YOU DON'T BELONG HERE." He picked Theo up with one hand, gingerly removed the Fang with his other, and dumped him on the ground. Meh, maybe he should grant his little servant a some power. He spoke a few words which Isorans wouldn't comprehend and strengthened the curse on Theo, growing him to extra tall height, glowing his eyes, and giving him a flame aura. That should impress the little bugs.
As he did so, another power dawned within him. He felt slightly faint, and the light in his eyes dimmed a little. Someone else was beginning to take control (OOC: That would be Scarlet). He had to have his way before he succumbed. He espied a defiant Ash Tail knight with another one of his Fangs, and snatched it before swinging off the top of the plaform. He shrunk himself to a tiny size and took the form of an Isoran before coming back up again. He had to find all of his fangs, and he certainly couldn't accomplish that by stomping around in Haven. Much as he disliked it, he had to use subtlety.
Name? Pfft, he already had one. But the knights would notice it, so he had to think of one. Then, he had a brilliant idea: what if he used his real name? They'd never know the difference! He virtually patted himself on the back for being so smart.
"New" character application:
Name: Vog
Appearance: angry eyes, tall height, orange personal color
Loadout: Vog Cub set, dual wielded Fangs of Vog
Biography: This is just Vog's Isoran form.
(OOC: maybe this conversation is a bit one sided, but I have to post it before there is any other changes! I should have also remembered about the light shards too huh?-_-
Anyhow.... Theo's shadow is as what he had explained, might be as strong, or maybe stronger than Vog.....)
"Hahahah... The big man thinks he is on top of the food chain here..." the same voice echoed again, but this time everyone could hear it.
Theo writhed in pain as his body underwent a series of changes, his body and his soul has been tampered with Vog once again. "Hahahah... I must thank you for making this worthless body stronger... Perhaps, a greeting is necessary..." the voice returned, suddenly Theo's shadow rised from the ground and formed the body of the dark knight. This time the knight had become stronger, his eyes glowing like fire and the fire aura shines darkness.
"So it is you!" Theo's shadow laughed as it claps his hand, he grinned and bowed respectfully at Vog. "Dissapointment is the best thing to clarify my prespective about you Vog."
The shadow turned to Theo who had fallen unconscious, he turned to Jak and to the Snarbolax. And finally back to Vog.
"They are nothing comparing to you Vog... And you are nothing comparing to me!" the shadow taunted Vog as he circled him, he stopped and stared at Vog this time with seriousness. "To tell you the truth, we are both in equal ground my dear friend. It is just that this body hinders my true potential, I must ask you one question my dear fool: Do you think you can defeat Theo?"
The shadow grinned, and answered before Vog could say anything. "Hahah, of course not... You will be surprised what he can really do... I believe it is time for me to return back, I don't want the poor boy to be in pain now would he?"
The shadow returned back to Theo, "Oh and Vog, one mental note: Theo is... I meant we... Are not from this world...." it laughed and disappeared.
"The next time we meet, I would personally be glad to slaughter you Vog..."
Vog was sorely tempted to return to his original form and challenge Theo, but decided that this arrogant shadow wasn't worth the trouble. With unusual patience, he decided to take the elevator to Haven and find his fangs. Then he'd show Theo who's boss.
Meanwhile...
Gwen clenched and released her fist. She had successfully separated her soul from Vog and Scarlet. She opened her eyes to the bright, comforting light of the Sanctuary and checked that she still had her gear She took the elevator back up, since she had a few...tasks to complete.
But then she spotted Theo and his shadow. Darn, things had gotten a lot worse since she was last conscious. For once, she wished that she, too, had an imposing "true form," but alas, she had none. She stood in front of the shadow of Theo, pulled out a pipe, and said in her politest voice:
"May I have a light?"
I am tired of this. I float up with my arms spread wide. Who does that shadow think he is, calling me 'nothing compared to'. Ludicrous! "Vog!" I yell out, sending a giant thorn flying into his foot. It cuts deeper than he expected it to. He turns to face me, "So, the great 'Prince O Beasts' finally decides he's angry? What made you hold back?"
"I thought you should rethink this, Vog. You have obviously grown to be quite ignorant of your fellow Wolvers." I let my glow intensify and darkness radiate outward. "You have dared bring this fight into my Sanctuary. I will not let you defile the Structure with your sins. You must be PUNISHED!!!" I weaken his fire enough to let him feel mortal pain, even if it's only for ten minutes. I send thousands upon thousands of thorns flying into him. He screams, shaking the Clockworks. I stop finally.
EDIT: Let's just assume this happened before Vogs departure
((OOC: Wow, things are really heating up now. Everybody has become awesome, except Vin and Jak. By the way, do you know what the Balrog looks like? That's kinda how I envisioned Vog. Vog is really massive, and probably not wolver-like at all. Sure, he has Vog Cub servants, but he also has Vanaduke for a servant; do either of them really represent Vog's appearance?))
Vog had to think for a bit. He used to be more calculating, but ever since he let Vanaduke wreck the place, he started becoming more impulsive. He needed to reverse that trend. Clearly, this "Seatus" was a match for himself, but he was mistaken to perceive Vog as a wolver. Yes...he could use that. Let Seatus think him a wolver. He'll underestimate Vog, and won't he be surprised when Vog's true form is revealed! But then he had to temper himself. He was letting his pride cloud his judgement.
His first order of business was to retrieve his remaining fangs. If he counted correctly the first time, he lost four. Two were now in his possession. A third just walked past him. What luck! The knight was headed to the Arcade, probably to kill the Royal Jelly for the nth time. That knight was not looking very healthy, though. Vog had to snicker a little inside. He put a hand on the knight's shoulder before he could leave. "Son, I believe you have my sword." The knight looked bewildered. Once Vog saw his face, he recoiled a little - the knight had Swarm eyes! This was not good, totally not good. Still, keep face, keep face... "You know, that firey sword you got on your back? That's mine. Yes, I know you found it in Firestorm Citadel. I lost it there. Give it back." The knight stepped back and objected: "I don't believe you! Get away from me, you jerk!" Vog grew angry, not realizing that the knight simply thought Vog was trying to weasel his way out of buying the sword. "Boy, you have no idea who you're dealing with. Just give it to me, and no one gets hurt." The knight began to look defiant. "It's bound, buddy. I couldn't give it to you even if I wanted to." Vog just laughed out loud. He'd managed to rip it away from Theo; what was to stop him from doing the same to this knight? "And you couldn't keep if even if you wanted to." Vog reached for the blade and pulled. It came off effortlessly, much to the shock of its former wielder. "Thank you very much! Now if you'll excuse me, I have one more to find." Feeling smug, Vog sheathed the blade and began his search for the fourth and final fang.
Turns out Vog had underestimated the power of his own Fangs. The knight he retrieved the blade from caught up with Vog and tackled him. Vog's own strength was still superior, but the knight's strength was still challenging and uncanny. The knight was also more skilled, and had managed to gain the upper hand over Vog, who was considerably less experienced at combat as a tiny person. Still, Vog taunted him: "What are you going to do, take my Fang back?" The knight tried, but couldn't retrieve it. "How...what the...HECK!?" Vog just laughed. "I win. Get off me." With a swift kick in the gut, he sent the knight flying. Once he got up, he realized that the whole town square was staring at him. "What? It's my sword!" He brushed himself off and headed to the Arcade. He would undoubtedly find the last Fang owner there sometime.
Hmm. Perhaps the knights were a threat after all. He began to understand why Gwenyvier had chosen them to be her heroes.
OOC: So tired =.=
BIC:
I wake up, with the dew over my face. I instinctively wipe it with my right arm, and re-adjust my hood. I take a look around, and try to recall the past events before my slumber.
I was going to go down to the Wildwoods.
I met Gwen.
We fought the twin beasts.
Gwen turned into Vog.
I lost my...
I look at my right arm again, and find something else in place of it. A wiry, lean limb hangs out from the shoulder. It is dark-blue in color, and the muscles are very defined. If one would stare at this for a while, it would remind him/her of a Snarbolax. Snarbolax...
I lie back down, and breathe for a bit. Maybe if I could put a sleeve over it or something...
Everything feels clear again. My senses had become more acute, sharper than when I was in possession of the Fang. The buckler on my back urges me to hunt, urges me to move. The rest of my body denies this instinct outright, and I fall into a sort of half-sleep. The Eye is still staring at me, and I am staring right back at it.
I don't mind the breeze though.
Jak woke up with a headache. He was feeling sore and bruised all over, but at least he was alive. So was Vin, from what he could tell. He meandered over to him and grunted, "W-w-ell, we were i-in quite a fix, weren't w-we? H-how are you f-feeling?"
He looked around, but saw no sign of either Gwen, Theo, or Vog.
(OOC: I always thought that he would look like Asterius :P
http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m8qhz0KxML1rqqfego1_1280.png)
As Theo regained consciousness, he opened his eyes and jerked away as he saw the same girl before right in front of her.
"May I have a light?" the girl asked Theo politely, or so what Theo thought.
"W...what light? I..." Theo stammered, he paused and looked at everyone else, they are all injured in many ways. "What... What happened? Where is that Vog? I... Wanted him to get rid of my curse...."
"Silence! He had given you a blessing! Remember that you are STRONGER than that fool!" the voice barked at Theo.
"What?!" Theo growled back at his other self, it just seems as if Theo is talking to no one but his own self. "You.... You're a freak!"
"So you're calling yourself a freak?!" the shadow laughed back at Theo, "Why are you implying that you're me?! You're just... Just a freak! And thanks to you, I won't be able to live normally like any other knights!" Theo croaked as he tried to fight the tears.
"Live normally? You're never normal! Even before you had the fang, had you EVER wondered how, or WHY you could sense deaths?! It is because you-" the shadow paused for a brief moment and continued. "It will just confuse you even more for now, but soon you will understand your true persona...."
The shadow materialized and looked at the girl, his face showed surprise and horror at the girl.
"How... Could you see me? No ordinary knights can see me.... Unless..." the shadow paused and stared deeply into the girl. "Who... Are you?"
"Doing fine, doing fine..." I reply, still staring at the Eye in my subconsciousness.
"I think I learned something. What if the Phantoms we see in the Graveyards are in fact, Swarm-Infested spirits? You know, people who have gambled away their lives for some amount of immortality or something..."
I contemplate on this while staring back at the Eye, which seems to dilate every now and then. It doesn't close or anything, just stares. Out of my peripheral vision, a red glow surrounds the darkness, as if blood was filling up my arteries. It doesn't seem to be that, so would it be something with my arm?
The grass feels so soft here. I think I'll wait a bit more...
Zzz...
((OOC: that's actually kinda cool. I can definitely imagine the shadow to look like that.))
Gwen looked at the shadow. "I see you've met my friend and dearest knight Thanatos. I'm Gwenyvier, native resident of this world. How is your brother? Is he still well? I saw him a moment ago, but he was in a bit of a hurry."
She looked at Theo. "You must be tired. Darkness will do that to a person." She tenderly took his hands and said, "Each and every one of you is dear to me. You knights are strong, and do not readily corrupt; for that, I am thankful. Your hearts, though flawed, are pure. Do not despair. The curse may yet be broken." She paused, stared deeply into his eyes, and noted, "You have always fought for me so valiantly. Allow me to return the favor."
She looked again at the shadow, this time cupping her hands together and forming a brilliant flaming ball of energy. "Now let me ask you again: may I have a light?"
((OOC: Gwen is asking to start a fight. May I have your permission to fight the shadow?))
Meanwhile...
Jak thought about Vin's idea. It did sound plausible. They were cursed, strong, unkillable, crimson...yes, very plausible. He'd have to look into it. That was dangerous, though, so he would need some help. "Say Vin, would you like to come with me and find out?"
"Hahah.... You think you can defeat me?" the shadow cackled as he stood up, he brandished his corrupted Fang and twirled it around. "Fight me if you can....."
Theo turned to his shadow, and back at Gwen. "You... You will help me? I... I'm just an ordinary knigh-"
"Silence you fool! Do not listen to her! She will corrupt us! YOU HEAR THAT?! CORRUPT US!" the shadow interrupted Theo and gave a cold look at Gwen. "She may seem like a light! But she is the REAL darkness to US!"
Theo clutched his head in pain, sudden images of deaths flashed before him, he could see... The faces of people dying in the most horrible ways. "This is our true light!" the shadow screeched as more horrible images flashed.
"Please..." Theo croaked, "Please make it stop...."
Her fireball hovered over the shadow, and began to create a vortex, sucking in the shadow gradually but relentlessly. Simultaneously, Gwen charged at the shadow, throwing fireballs at a furious pace. Upon reaching the shadow, she twirled gracefully in the air and landed a swift, fiery kick. The light she was generating was bright, almost too bright even for Theo. Small though she was, she was clearly a match for the shadow.
((OOC: she also has a "bracelet shield," much like Cherub's. It resists elemental damage, shadow damage, fire, shock, and curse.))
I spring up, feeling a bit more refreshed, and take another look around me. The Sanctuary itself is pretty desolate besides the odd grass or tree, and only the Alchemy Spring nearby seems near-sentient. I take off all my equipment (not my jumpsuit), and immerse myself into the lukewarm waters. I begin to feel weightless, and my sense of touch fades. I black out, but instead of the Eye greeting me, it is something else entirely.
In my vision, I see an ancient forest, full of life. Lizards similar to the build of the Chromalisks crawl casually on trees, eating whatever unfortunate insect they can find. Two wolves, not the alien species we see on Cradle, trot through the trees, apparently returning to their den. If it weren't for the giant shadow sleeping in the briars, it might have been reminiscent of Isora. Suddenly, a loud groan from the earth echoes throughout the forest, and the land mass is lifted up. The time skips forward decades ahead, and I observe the wolves' descendants. They look like a mix of cream and grey, but other than that, nothing has changed yet. The shadow in the thorns has grown considerably, and I begin to see the familiar chartreuse orbs. Time moves forward yet again, and now the beasts look almost exactly like those we see on Cradle. This time, the shadow has taken on a dusky color, and the relaxes atmosphere has left entirely. It is now a time of turmoil, as the Wolvers here are overpopulated. They initially compete for territory, but then they soon jump off their home surfaces, ready to live in other areas. The shadow remains. Time moves forward once more, and now the air has returned to a somewhat more peaceful setting, but there is also a moment of tension. The birds are absent, the lizards gone. What remains is a massive, hulking beast that has sired to a litter of a brownish type of wolf. These, however, I knew would be the future beasts that the Knights loathe. The parent looks down below, and there is the Eye. I can't help but feel a wave of fear course through me, but it isn't enough to make me panic. I peer down to where the eye is at, and I see a horde of grey-pink beasts loping. The Swarm corrupted the beasts after getting the Gremlins. That leaves Almire and the Jellies next. Disgust fills me, and I force myself to wake from the vision.
My body feels naked, so I look down. My right arm has spread its inky-black color to my shoulder now.
The shadow shrieked in pain as light engulfed it, he turned to Theo this time with no malicious intentions. But with fear.
"No....what...what are you doing to me?" the shadow groaned as he tried to reach it's hand at Theo, suddenly Gwen landed a powerful fiery kick which knocked the shadow to the ground. "Why....why are you.... Lend me.... Lend me your power Theo.... Like how we did thousand years ago...." the shadow pleaded as it crawled towards Theo.
"Get... Get away from me!" Theo growled and kicked the shadow back, sending it flying to the vortex of light. "Just... Die already!"
The shadow closed his eyes, and grinned. "Thanatos.... Your brothers shall return you to your former glory.... Hahah.... I....will...be...back... " it laughed and burnt to ashes. Surprisingly, the ashes was blown away by a gentle breeze and turned into something similar like a silkwing but smaller. It's shining blue wings sparkled through the darkness, it hovered on top of Theo for a moment and flies away.
"He...he's gone right? He....he is gone right?" Theo trembled as he looked at his savior, Gwenyvier.
I stand in front of the waters as Vin sleeps. When he wakes, I quickly wave my hand as his armor appears upon him. I am not quick enough as he sees the darkness on his shoulder. "Vin," I say, "the fight is over, but you require healing." I wave my hand as the water seeps into the ink and heals it. "You must find a way to assist Theo, for his shadow follows him to turn him back...I must stay here to assess the damage to the elemental foundations. Go now, and return with Theo for further planning..."
OOC: Thin, Vog is a Wolver. Vog Cubs are his Cubs, and Vanaduke is corrupted by the Swarm and past events....
Much had transpired in a few moments that Theo could not perceive. Once the shadow was contained in the vortex, she explained to him that she intended to purge him of his addiction to Thanatos's power an cleanse him of his corruption over the course of 10 cycles. At the end of that time, he would be allowed to take physical form. But he would be forever banished from returning to Thanatos again.
Even the wretched, evil things - especially the wretched things - were in need of mercy.
But she did not explain all this to Theo. "He is banished from you, yes. He shall never return to haunt you again." She then took him by the hand. "Come! I have a gift for you."
((OOC: @Seatus: in the lore, Vanaduke was said to have gone to Vog for power. Yes, he was corrupted by the Swarm (SFSC), but Vog did it first.))
((OOC: According to Nick, Vog isn't a wolver, and is unrelated to the Snarbolax.))
Jak watched with interest as Seatus explained things to Vin. So Theo was honest-to-goodness possessed? Awesome! Well, probably not for Theo. He decided to ask Seatus something himself: "Is there a material way to eliminate the curse of Vog, or must it be done...you know...magically?"
((OOC: Well then...Nick...huh...maybe not related to the Snarbolax...that's understood....but he is a Beast...I apologize for me not realizing that another type of Beast could be part of the Fathers. Vanaduke did go to him for power but that doesn't mean Vanaduke isn't his son...I suppose...and this IS a fanfiction so....:P))
"There is a way to end the curse. You must apologize for your wrongs, you must return his Fangs, and I must be the one to calm his wrath. But for now, we must deal with the troubles of our own group. Theo is not from your world exactly...he is in relation to a being of Death ((I sincerely hope I am not ruining the shadow's story, feel free to counteract my assumption)) and it doesn't want to let go of him."
*Apologize (to whom?) for wrongs,
*Return the Fangs of Vog,
*Get Seatus to calm Vog.
Jak wasn't sure what to do with the first item. "What wrongs did we commit, and to whom must we apologize? And where *is* Theo from, if not Isora?" Theo sure looked Isoran. Was he Ilsolan or Almirian? They were all of the same race; perhaps that's what Seatus meant.
Meanwhile...
The fourth and final fang wielder stepped off the elevator and into the Arcade. He was extra short and looked kinda fat in his jelly armor. He was evidently trying to look like an Impostocube with his black toupee and dapper combo. Vog knew the real Impostocube; that thing was great fun to be around, and one of the few creatures he tolerated in his presence. He was about to find out whether this young whipper-snapper was up to snuff.
"You there! You have a Fang of Vog. Can I have it?" The knight thought for a moment. "Sure! There's more where that came from, anyways." Vog was puzzled. He only had four fangs (in addition to about 26 other teeth); where were the others coming from? "Uh...like where? I only knew of four." The knight laughed. "Sure, there's only four real fangs, and tons of copies." Well, the copies might work just as well. He wandered off to think about this weird turn of events. He examined the fang he'd been given. It looked authentic enough. Vog would know if people were taking out his teeth, so he had no choice but to believe the knight. Where were the fangs coming from?
But he didn't have time to answer his own question. Where a flaming knight once stood, a Fallen crimson lady took his place.
Scarlet stretched and opened her eyes. It was good to be back.
(OOC:@Seatus: wow... That's an excellent assumption...W-well lets continue on the story...)
Theo looked down in depression, Who am I really? Is that shadow telling the truth? And what did he meant thousand years ago? those question lingers his thought.
"But for now, we must deal with the troubles of our own group. Theo is not from your world exactly...he is in relation to a being of Death, and it doesn't want to let go of him..." the Snarbolax spoke, Theo turned in horror. Death? Is that why my name...
Gwen suddenly came towards Theo and grabbed his hand, "Come! I have a gift for you." she spoked gently and pulled Theo away.
Theo's doubt of his origins are now gone, he was surprised that Gwen would help him again. He looked in the eye of the girl, she looked so beautiful with her Valkyrie armor..... "W....where are you bringing me to?" Theo perked as his face turned red.
Theo then looked back, he could feel whispers, whispers of a woman calling names of people.
Hugh....Theo....Neil...Marmalade...my children...where are my children?!....
(OOC: okay, since the cat is already out of the sack, I won't mind explaining those people I mentioned:
-Hugh = Hypnos : the twin brother of Thanatos.
-Theo = Thanatos: the Greek representation of death.
-Neil = Nemesis: the Greek representation of retribution, also brother of Thanatos.
-Marmalade = Moros :the Greek representation of impending doom, also brother of Thantos.
I didn't realized Marmalade to have a strong similarity to Moros due to his bad luck (/'3')/ )
"You may have crash landed, but when you did you awoke the Swarm from the slumber my Father layed upon them. You took the Fangs of Vog and you used them for your own purposes! You Knights are powerful enough with your guns and bombs! Must you seek more power?! It's like you falling into a pit with the highest of calibur equipment, while at the same time this pit is home to another person and they lost some weapons of their's, and even though you have ENOUGH power already, you want more! So you end up taking the lost weapons when you find them, and leave the RIGHTFUL owner nothing! ESPECIALLY WHEN A PREDATOR IS ON THE LOOSE. IN THIS CASE, THE SWARM! DID YOU KNIGHTS EVER THINK THAT THESE FANGS WERE JUST NOT MEANT TO BE TOUCHED?!"
I take a breath, not wanting to have the instincts of my brethren taking over. "He just wants his Fangs back...they are his only thing he can rely on," a black tear drips from one of my eyes. "I was abandoned at a very young age by my Father and my two brothers, and the only thing I could rely on for food was my thorns...and the Skolver and his family...they rely on their elemental powers....."
I snivel and wipe the tear away as my emotions leave. "We just need Vog to know you apologize for your kinds' wrongs against him...and I will calm him with a strong slumber if I can gather enough energy between now and then and not use the waters of the fountain."
"To answer your question about Theo...I am not sure where he is from. But the Core has told me that he is not from here. He is somehow related to Death. And I don't mean the event of death, I mean a being called Death who controls the events of death. He is indeed a strong being, for thousands upon thousands of deaths happen in every minute, of every day. But there is always something to counteract death. Birth. Life. Creation. So if there is a darkness, there is at least a light to fight it." I point to the Structure. "I mean, this fights the Swarm, doesit not?"
((OOC: @Infernus, Gwen is actually wearing Valkyrie Mail and no helmet at all. Her shield is like Cherub's half-invisible bracelet.))
"Yes, it does."
The silver-haired girl replied to Seatus solemnly. "Or rather, I do. If the rest of you haven't figured it out by now, I am the Core." Jak was stunned by this revelation. What stunned him even more was that she had Thanatos in tow.
She led Theo, Vin, Jak, and Seatus to the center of the Sanctuary. "I would like to grant each of you a gift." She summoned a small chest and opened it. From it she took several small items. She gave Theo a Maiden's Tear. "To you, I grant the courage you lack. Many trials await, and you need the strength of will to pass them. This will keep you safe, so take courage in it, and do not abandon hope." To Vin, she gave an Enamorock. "To you, I give the gift of peace. Your heart aches for a love it cannot find, and for a friendship no one will give you. When you hold this, remember me. I am your friend, forever and always, and I love you dearly." To Jak, she gave a Spark of Life. "To you, I give the gift of strength. You try so hard to defend your friends and loved ones, but time and again you fail because you are unable. This will give you the strength of mind and limb to overcome any obstacle in your path."
Finally, she withdrew a Saintly Silver Amulet for Seatus. "To you, I give the ability to resist all the powers of darkness. Vog, the Swarm, and other foes yet unseen will challenge you and try to corrupt you and lay curses upon you. I shall not let that happen, not while I yet have breath. Take this, and treasure it always."
She closed the chest and sat upon the soft grass. "I cannot leave the Core while it remains locked, so the extent to which I may assist you is limited to the Shadow Lairs. My crafting machine is yours to utilize as you wish, and I will not require a tribute of energy to craft the armor it offers."
"But most importantly, use my gifts wisely. I will be sorely disappointed and angry with you should you use them for evil. Keep your hearts pure!" She then snapped her fingers, and a knightly figure approached them. He wore a beautiful set of Almirian Crusader armor, and carried a strange grey sword resembling a chainless Cold Iron Vanquisher and a glimmering Crest of Almire on his back. Gwen spoke again, "Friends, meet Arkus, whom I have revived and purged. He will assist you on your journey home." Arkus bowed low, and grunted "I am honored to meet you all."
"Why choose Arkus? He let down their 'Spiral Order' with the corruption of his mind, soul, and heart. Why choose him if this cycle is to appear again?" my tail sways from side to side as I wait for an answer. "I also think my amulet should go to Vin. My time in the spotlight is over with me traveling with these guys and using as little energy as possible. I will leave the role of hero to these guys. Vin will need all the help he can get. Theo is learning of his true past, and Jak is more than you deem him to be, I promise you that."
I hear it. Her. Calling for her children. She wants...grrr....I cannot concentrate on her words, HER THOUGHTS! She has clouded her mind from me. Alliance. No, who said that? Memories?! What? Words fly through my head.
Gwen smiled. "Like I said, I have purged Arkus. He is no longer the corrupted knight he once was. I have given him a second chance."
"But do not give away the amulet I gave you. I do not give these gifts lightly. You cannot escape from a spotlight that is searching you out, and seeks your destruction. Are you not a hunter? Do you not know that a hunter focuses on his prey, to the exclusion of all other distractions? Vin, Theo, and Jak are mere distractions compared to yourself, the ultimate prey and target of their assaults. They will undoubtedly attempt to corrupt my dear knights, but not nearly as often or as strongly as they will you.
She began to shout. "DON'T YOU KNOW WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF YOU WERE CORRUPTED!? YOU...YOU...YOU WOULD DESTROY US ALL! YOU WOULD BE...BE UNSTOPPABLE! ALL THE POWERS OF LIGHT AND DARKNESS COULDN'T CONTAIN YOU!"
She began to weep uncontrollably. Her greatest fears were all becoming reality. Her first fear was the annihilation of her subjects, which came to pass at the hands of the betrayer, Tinkinzar. Her next fear was the rise and release of the Swarm, that great monstrosity which devours everything in its path. It has since been released, and is gradually making its way to the surface. Her third fear was the corruption of the unconquerables, particularly the Snarbolaxes. Three have already fallen. Her fourth fear was the corruption or annihilation of the Spiral Knights.
Each and every one of these fears was coming to pass, and each due to someone's ignorance and short-sightedness. Why couldn't Seatus understand the peril he was putting them all in, just by questioning the necessity for his resisting corruption?
But then she felt bad for shouting at Seatus. She sniffled a little, and apologized. "I am so sorry for losing my temper with you, dear Seatus. Your intentions were pure, and I know you meant no harm. Please try to understand, and please accept my apology."
Theo.... My dearest child... Where are you?
"Huh?" Theo mumbled as he felt his name being called by someone else, "I'm just tired that's all..." he sighed and looked back at Gwen who surprised him, she had leashed her angers on the poor Snarbolax. She still look so beautiful even if she is angry... Theo blushed as he walked towards Gwen.
The girl handed Theo a small jewel, "To you, I grant the courage you lack. Many trials await, and you need the strength of will to pass them. This will keep you safe, so take courage in it, and do not abandon hope."
Theo's face turned red again, he tried to cover it but it seems quite obvious. "T-thank you...." he smiled sheepishly and kept the Maiden's Tear in his pocket, Theo returned his look at Gwen. His heart beated faster than usual and his body's temperature increased drastically,Dammit Theo, keep your act together! he thought to himself.
Trying to get rid of his unusual dilemma, Theo turned to the Snarbolax who is preoccupied by something Theo couldn't comprehend.
Seatus... the voice of the woman echoed in the mind of the Snarbolax, this time clear and only he can hear. "Seatus.... Please... Take care of my child.... Watch him over from the sanctuary if you must... Please... Make him return to his brothers...
This time, the woman's voice could only be heard by Gwen.
Gwen... Watch over him.... But I must warn you... Our kind would never coexist with yours.... I am in no place to make demands but... Make sure that he would survive... For he has a great role in this world's fate...... the gentle voice echoed in her mind and disappeared.
(OOC:
Well... To make things easier, I would like to make an app for Niel and Hugh! I don't mind if they're both not accepted :3
_________________________________
Name: Nemesis, or more known as Niel.
Race: ???
Loadout: Fang of Vog, Chaos Cloak, Magic Hood (Toasty Glasses)
Biography: A knight who had lost his memories since he had landed in Cradle, he was one of the few knights who is skilled even for a beginner and had become a powerful knight until now. He gained his Fang of Vog by accident by a strange knight who had also given Theo and Hugh the same cursed weapon, since then he had been searching for that skelly knight to seek revenge. He also had a similar ability like Theo's, only that he can suppress his battle powers to use it efficiently in fights. He also had a shadow version of him like Theo's but it isn't fully awakened.
Personality: unlike Theo, Niel gets irritated quickly and harbors vengeance, he will always remember anyone who angers him or who he doesn't like. Niel hates to talk with people and prefers being alone, other than that he would never abandon any allies.... Unless if he had a grudge against his allies...

Name: Hypnos, or more known as Hugh.
Race: ???
Loadout: Fang of Vog, Arcane Salamander Suit, Magic Hood (Surge Glasses)
Biography: A knight who's laziness couldn't be compared to anything else, after landing in Cradle, Hugh was known as one of the most skilled fighters and is still until now. After acquiring the Fang accidentaly, Hugh had became a very lazy knight and tends to fall asleep every now and then (Reference to Hypnos which meant sleep :3). Even though he is lazy, he still try to find answers about this curse that had befallen many unfortunate knights. Unlike Theo and Niel, Hugh's shadow had already coexisted with him and showned zero hostility to him at all.
Personality: Other than the fact that he is very aloof and tends to sleep, Hugh is very wise and collective. He hate doing activities or either talking to others since he think its a waste of energy, he likes to comment on people's actions and rarely lost in an argument.
and that's about it....)
The knights aren't fighting for you.
What do you mean? That's what I brought them here for!
They don't know that. They just want your energy to get off this blasted planet.
Is that wrong?
If they take your energy, you would die.
Not if they only take some of it.
Knights are greedy. They will take it all.
No! They are pure-hearted! They know how to control themselves.
They couldn't control themselves when taking Vog's fangs.
That was different.
Was it now? How so?
Well...you see...Vog...is evil...no, that didn't come out right.
So now you're saying Vog deserved what came to him? That doesn't sound like you.
I know it doesn't. I don't know what to think.
Wake up and smell the roses, Gwen. The knights don't care.
She struggled within herself about the intentions of the Spiral Knights. Were they friends, or were they enemies? Why did she trust them?
A voice from beyond the edge of the world spoke to her: "Gwenyvier, hear me! Thanatos is the Arbiter of Death. He has an important role to play in this world's fate, and cannot be allowed to perish. Even though our kind cannot peacefully coexist with the creatures of light, I beg of you, please watch over him! Please..."
The Arbiter of Death? The voice was correct; the Queen of Light had no business with such a being. How could she have been so blind!? How could she have let this...this...monster!...have one of her gifts? Her rage at Theo began to boil, but she quenched it before it boiled over. Her emotions were clouding her judgement. She had just chewed out Seatus for ignoring the future for the sake of the present, yet she was about to do exactly the same thing. She decided to let Theo live. She told herself that love is an action, not a feeling. She didn't have to feel good about Theo; she just had to do what was best for him. And she would watch over him, just like she was asked to.
But someday, he would have to be purged.
"It's okay, but I think that you may have misunderstood my intentions." I continue to speak within her mind. "You know what's coming for Vin. Don't let me cloud your duty. I know you worry for me, but I assure you, even if you already know this. I am strong."
Words...WORDS WORDS WORDS!!!
She speaks to me! I know that voice! Gah! I step protectively in front of Theo when I see that look of chaos in Gwen's eyes, the same look I see in a killer's eyes, the same look that my brothers gave me that long time ago.
Nyx told her something...It's giving her unruly emotions. This could end in a horrid betrayal. I speak in Gwen's mind again, "What did that witch tell you? You know she is going to end up changing Theo into something terrible..." my eyes flash at her in understanding. I continue in her head, "They wouldn't do that to you Gwen...you know they wouldn't...if they try it, I will end them before I ever see you die."
An idea pops into my head, and I say out loud. "Do you know where Alice is?"
Gwenyvier's eyes met Seatus's, and she immediately knew that what he said was true.
She was corrupted.
His voice echoed in her head. "What did that witch tell you?"
I don't know! I didn't know she was here!" *panicking*
"You know she is going to end up changing Theo into something terrible!"
No! That can't be! It's not true!
"They wouldn't do that to you Gwen."
...I know... *sob*
"You know they wouldn't."
...help me...
"If they try it, I will END them before I ever see you die.
...Seatus!... *tears of joy*
"Do you know where Alice is?"
...what??... *puzzled*
No!...wait...yes...she is...INSIDE ME!? Please, purge me! Get her out! Please! *very panicked*
*composes herself*
*sees everyone staring at her*
*realizes she's been wordlessly emoting*
"Ahem. I'm sorry. We must go."
Despite her earlier emotions, she felt strangely comforted by Seatus's words. Knowing that this strong beast was willing to protect her gave her the courage to endure the corruption which she now knew she faced. She could not let on to her friends that she was impure; it might tarnish their faith in her. She needed to maintain an image of purity until she could be purged.
Gwen sheathed her Final Flourish and headed to the elevator. She grinned and winked. "Who will escort me?"
"I will...." I hold up my hand. My spikes bristle as her voice echoes in my mind again....Protect....Theo. I glance at Theo. His shadow is expected to show up along the way. Theo has probably never had a normal life, him having done horrible things in a past life he can't even remember. But how do I know these things? Something else must be communicating with me. It must be Alice....
I send a message into Gwen's head, "You don't need to fear about Alice....she knows what her continued existance within you has done to you over the past millions of years. She is a part of you though, and that being said, you are a part of her. She belongs along with you. She created Skolver, Vog, and Snarbolax from her experience with the Guiding Light of the Wolver, her experiencing the wrath and the hate of the Red Queen and her Swarm Knights, which overthrew her empire when they had the chance to grow stronger, and the madness of her descent as she was finally cornered by the Swarm Knights at the edge of the railing that was over the Core. You were her only hope, and she put her faith in you. If you don't remember that is the day you started radiating more energy than ever previously. She gives you her strength, and I think it's her that gives me my knowledge....." I grab my head as I suffer flashes of the Blue Caterpillar on his mushroom...he looks down at me....a puff of smoke flies into my face.
I fall down, and I am stunned as I black put and see the giant magenta eye staring down from the dome above, tentacles reaching down...
((clarifying: The Swarm Knights referred to are not Isorans, they are Carnavons/ note: Seatus is a better Snarbolax than his Father was, born to be a hero. When he is stunned, his fur is not weakened, but his body is free for possession. This was the weakness that came with being born amongst so many Lost Souls.))
Third-Person:
*Seatus' spike tips glow magenta as his body is limply pulled up from the floor. He grins as wide as a grin can as his magenta eyes grow bigger, emphasizing his huge teeth in his grin. His arms go up into a cross as words uncontrollably come out of his mouth. "Core, it's been awhile, hasn't it?!" Seatus' back dips down so his face is in front of Gwen's. "I see you've brought yourself some heroes to help in Vog's curse. I am sorry to inform you, but Vog has even dared to mix us, Swarm, with his curse. You know how he can manipulate us. You also know that with the more manipulations he makes with us, the more corrupted he gets. So this curse has also contributed in his corruption ever since these Knights landed. So, I would hurry faster, because he is almost at the halfway point." The Swarm cackles through Seatus as tentacles shoot down and plant seeds and turrets in the ground along with spawners as Carnavons erupt out of the ground. Seatus' spike tips and eyes return to his stunned turquoise as he falls limp to the ground. The eye in the sky pulsates as black radiates across the dome-sky, completely covering it.*
"Swarm, listen well: you shall not continue to possess Seatus while I yet have breath. You do not belong here in the Core."
She spread out her hands, and turned them to point at Seatus. She began to glow brightly and levitate off the ground; when her eyes opened wide, light shone from them and pierced into the very depths of his soul. Her voice grew hollow (an indication that she is about to utilize an elemental power).
"I HEREBY BANISH YOU FROM THE SOUL OF SEATUS."
She threw back her head, and her light began to absorb the Swarm from Seatus's body. The purging of Swarm required another host; since she was a creature of light, she was the ideal host, and would be able to destroy the Swarm from inside her body, given enough time.
The screams of Gwen, Seatus, and the Swarm-infested souls pierced the still air of the Sanctuary, and resonated throughout the dome.
____________________________________________________
Jak had just witnessed a purging for the first time. It was absolutely glorious! He had to cover his face to block the intense light emanating from both Gwenyvier and Seatus. He looked at Theo and Vin, who were similarly impressed at the sight.
But he didn't have time to stay impressed. The process was not yet complete, and the remaining Swarm souls were hurling themselves at the knights in a last ditch effort to take them with them. Jak vaporized the closest one with his blaster and lobbed a bomb into another charging group. The trio fought like a whirlwind, blasting, slicing, and blasting any blackened soul stupid enough to stand in their way.
Four bright figures advanced in the distance. They charged into the Swarm, and together with our trio of heroes, decimated the ranks of darkness.
Alpha Squad had returned.
I fly within a dark place, an aura of light encircling me and Gwen. Between us lies a vast black storm, crackling with magenta lighting. I watch as the Swarm starts to surround Gwen.
"NO. I can deal with this. I won't let anything happen to you or Alice!"
"This is my battle! You also know yours is coming! You will not deal with this. I am not corrupted by the Swarm, I am only fighting with it. If you let it in you, I promise you this, you and the others will be no more. I must keep you safe."
With that, I wake us up, leaving the storm floating there in the darkness. I look around with my red color returned. I find that my amulet had fallen on the ground. I pick it up and place it around my head. I see Carnavons suddenlynchange direction and go to the still sleeping Gwen. I hold my right arm horizontally in front of my face, and shoot a volley of spikes into the oncoming Carnavons.
They fall, but replenish themselves one after the other. I shoot, never letting them even shift in the direction of Gwen. A tentacle flies and hits me aside, but I simply slide roughly across the ground. I send even more spikes into it, and tackle it. It writhes around as it struggles to get me off, but I hold on and use my essence floating around me to suffocate the tentacle. As soon as it disconnects, it turns into pure white particles that fly into the Structure's waters. A glow appears, and the Swarm's spawners suddenly start to die. The Swarm's eye suddenly dilates in surprise and summons as many Carnavons as it can before the spawners suddenly die, but the turrets and the seeds work twice as hard in their efforts as the Eye suddenly blinks out. I run to Gwen, protecting her as much as I can.
She is invaluable.
I send a spike to the others in hopes to help as I struggle to keep Gwen safe.
Empowered by the gift of light they'd been given by the White Lady, Alpha Squad could not be touched by the Swarm. Three more Void Carnavons bit the dust when Euclid opened with his charge attack. He ducked under a swipe and gutted another one with a well-timed thrust. As he fought, he saw three figures battling the Swarm. Could it be?...It was! They had found their fellow Spiral Knights at last! A crimson spray of stinky Carnavon breath broke their reverie, and Parma punished it with a brilliant blast from her Valiance. Grantz laid down a Venom Veiler before smashing four Carnavons with a Sudaruska smash. Rulen finished off the remaining offenders with a satisfying blast from a Nitronome.
((OOC: @Vinnydime & Infernus, will you mind much if I use your characters a little bit in a battle sequence? I figure, with the Swarm attacking, Vin and Theo are very likely to engage them in combat, except in the rare event that they have something even more important to handle.))
On the other end of the shadowy ranks, Jak was busy ritualistically beheading Void Gremlins with charged blaster shots. Any that tried to gang up on him got a nasty blast in the arse from his blast bombs. Vin fought like a whirlwind, slicing and dicing Void Gels and Zombies with his Cold Iron Vanquisher (since he'd lost his fang to Vog). He seemed a tad rusty, but was holding his own. Theo wasn't faring as well; he'd been smashed by a Void Lumber, but refused to die. His skills may have needed improvement, but Jak had to give him credit for endurance. He pummeled a void gremlin that tried to take advantage of Theo's weakened state and came to his side.
Theo felt dazed after seeing the light that Gwen casted, his body felt weakened and he didn't even have anything to use for defending himself. "The....Light....It hurts...." he groaned as he squatted down, he could feel a presence contacting him.... it feels....
Theo felt a powerful fist sending him flying to the air, it feels nostalgic and painful.... like a smack from a Lumber...It was very painful and it seems that he had broken both of his legs. Theo tried to open his eyes but it was too painful to see anything, Am I going to die? he thought to himself.
He sensed another hostile presence but it disappeared, another presence.... A familiar presence had came to his aid, it was.... "J....Jak?" Theo muttered the name as he couldn't control his consciousness anymore. The world felt warm and cozy, and Theo slumbered to the darkness.... But something darker than the darkness inside his mind came to life.... It was a familiar darkness.... Darkness showing hope... Not fear....
"Hahah.... I knew that you're not going to make it without my help....." the shadow whispered to him, Theo opened his eyes to see the shadow standing in front of him, it is still the same shadow but there is some kind of static emanating from it.... Just like a hologram....
"But... I can't.... I can't fight..." Theo sighed as he looked down, his shadow smiled and raised his chin.
"You can't fight? You used to be the greatest... slaying Trojans was your favorite and your strength sliced it with ease like slicing a butter..." the shadow laughed and paused,"Tell you what.... Since I am still contained by that bastard.... Maybe we should make a deal...." the shadow grinned as it's eyes glowed like faint light bulb, the shadow is obviously weak and couldn't do anything to fight back at Gwen....
"What deal?" Theo asked the shadow.
"Simple...... I give you a part of my strength.... And in return... I will give you memories every single night...."
Theo was quiet for a moment, he looked up to the shadow and finally nodded, "D-deal...."
"Hahah.... finally..... just.... don't make sure you get caught by Gwen...." the shadow laughed and disappeared.
Theo suddenly felt something different inside of him, his powers.... he could feel his muscle tensing and his blood boiling.... Just like how it used to be.... Theo closed his eyes to relax, and he fell asleep once again.
__________
"Theo.... are you sure?" a tall knight draped in a Chaos Cloak looked at Theo in surprise, her eyes showing both determination and sadness, "Must you venture alone? Surely our brothers can come with you...."
"Eri.... my dear sister, I do not want mother to lose more of her children...." the powerful knight who wore an Armor of the Fallen grumbled as he watched the beautiful vista, he could see the planet cradle.... it is like seeing something you would never see in your life....
"No... I must come with you! I will.... Help you with your fate! To bring an end to the reign of those corrupted knights!" Eri growled at her brother, her long hair levitated from her back and it formed graceful arcs. Her feet glowed a circle of dark energy which made the air felt heavy, "I do not want another brother of mine to die!"
Theo smiled and hugged her sister, the magic circle disappeared and the air calmed down, "Alright.... But mother must approve of this...." with that, he kissed his sister on her forehead and told her goodnight. Tomorrow shall be a big day...
EDIT: Added the memories of Theo and some minor changes.
(OOC: Yeah, you can use Theo, but remember that he is still weak and un-OP!)
((OOC: @Seatus, it is possible to fight the Swarm while corrupted; in fact, Gwen's plan was to intentionally transfer the infection in order to do so. Seatus's actions prior to the purging carried the symptoms of a Swarm infection: 1) anything that glowed changed color, and 2) the Swarm began to speak through him. The latter is evidence of one's soul being controlled by another power, which is how the Swarm works. I believe Seatus *was* infected, but unbeknownst to Gwen, he, too, is a creature of light, and is equally capable of fighting it while infected.))
Gwen stood up and staggered, as if she was drunk. She now had a thousand souls living inside her body; the first, of course, was her own. The second was Alice. The remainder were the souls that the Swarm had corrupted. Her right eye had turned black, and a thin dark streak had started to move from it to her cheek. Her characteristic glow had disappeared.
Now she had to purge herself. This would be her most difficult task, not to mention the most painful. She couldn't perform it her usual way of transferring it elsewhere; she had to do it the hard way of destroying it outright.
She first merged and sealed together the memories of Alice and Gwen. They were merely different memories of the same person. She then liquidated her body into a ball of pure energy and flew back to the center of the Core to begin her self-purging. She smiled weakly as she watched Seatus, Vin, Theo, Jak, and Alpha Squad fight to defend the Core, to defend her, Gwenyvier, from the Swarm.
For once in her life, her best dream had come true.
She left an Echo Stone in her wake.
((Seatus wasn't corrupted...he was born in that same place that appears in Blades of the Fallen mission. The Lost Souls and any other type of spirit being is his true weakness. If he uses too much of his power, he will become stunned and free for possession.))
*Seatus continues to fight*
Jak looked on in horror when Gwen finally fell back to the earth. She didn't look healthy; her right eye had become Voided, and her skin had turned a sickly purple color. She staggered and almost fell before collapsing and vaporizing.
"NOOOOOO!!"
He screamed and rushed to her side, but there was nothing he could do. The Swarm continued to advance on them, and Jak, now enraged, charged into them and attacked with all his might.
"GWEN!" Theo shouted in awake, he looked frantically for her, but all he see is the swarm and an echo stone....
"No...." Theo croaked as he grabbed his scabbard, the empty shell glowed wildly with darkness, forming a fang inside it. Theo brandished the dark blade and swung it, "No....No...." he continued to repeat the word as he slashed any hostile approaching him, Theo watched as Jak tried to settle his vendetta against the swarm and also the Snarbolax who is fighting for the sake of them. It is now Theo's turn, "I... will...." Theo growled, his voice gradually became deeper as if he is changing into someone else, "I will.... Fight!"
Darkness filled his eye, replacing the fire with hatred and shadow. Theo mouth widen as he slayed more and more void monsters, his face showed no remorse and his mouth had shaped into the smile of the Cheshire cat. This....this is so fun... Theo grinned crazily as he skewered a void gremlin, "This is so fun...."
Theo suddenly stopped, he felt something inside his pocket shining. Do not lose hope.... the voice of Gwen echoed from the Maiden's Tear, the darkness inside his eye had disappeared and returned back to normal. "What.... what is happening to me?!" Theo screamed as he dropped the Fang to the ground, he held the jewel given by Gwen at his chest and volcanic tears began to drip from his eyes. "It's too much.... I.... I just want everything to end...."
"Let me take over your place then....." the shadow's voice laughed and Theo lost his consciousness, the same evil eye had returned to his face, and Theo continued his slaughter. "Don't you see how FUN this is? Just let me have the fun..... and you will remember...."
___________
"Mother, why?" Theo groaned and slammed his fist on the ground, he gave a cold look at his mother. "Why can't I go to put an end to the corrupted knights?!"
"Theo.... My child.... Now is not the time.... Do not be so bashful of your skills.... Another millennium will your task start...." the young, tall woman in a black dress hummed calmly at her son.
Theo roared and exited the room with a grumble, he was stopped as a knight in a black Skolver Armor bumped him. "Next time, I suggest you take good use to those glasses of yours." Theo grumbled as he pushed his brother aside.
"Theo... I might have a plan so mother will agree to let us go...." the knight grinned and fixed the position of his Frosty Glasses.
I dream no longer.
I have heard a thousand souls beg me for release.
Three million more ask to leave me.
Three will stay 'till darkness cease
None, I know, betray me.
My power is yours; take it while you may.
I cannot promise you after.
Escape, and fly with it far away
Bring back your time of laughter.

Name: Scarlet
Appearance: Isoran, extra tall height, almond eyes, crimson personal color
Proto gear: black spiral round helm w/ mecha wings & plume, black spiral draped armor
Loadout: Crown of the Fallen, Armor of the Fallen w/ Shadow Valkyrie Wings, Barbarous Thorn Shield, Barbarous Thorn Blade
Biography: She is, in essence, Gwenyvier's opposite. She isn't totally evil, as one might expect, but is still not the sort of person you just walk up to and shake hands with. She harbors a strong dislike for living things, and vastly prefers the company of the undead. She didn't used to; after all, she was once entrusted with the fate of everyone on Ilsola (not Isora; different planet). But the more she thought about it and the more she encountered living things, the less she liked them. Over time, she came to abhor them, and found the perfect means of eliminating them - the Swarm. She joined forces with the Swarm, and has never been seen since.
