For the Kat eye Cowl, it said he silenced tower MAGES, so I think magic should be in the game.

@ canine that's like saying why use faust, use curse vials, or why use deadly striker, use poison vials.

Magic
When i say Aura, I mean you have to charge it for about 3 sec and for about 30sec, you have a little circle around you that does small debuffs or status'.
When i say control, I mean you charge your attack and for a short time, you can control non-boss enemies.

Let's start with some facts...
-Owlites used magic.
-Owlites are (allegedly) extinct.
-Knights are not Owlites.
-There is no magic currently in the game.
Therefore we can come to two conclusions:
-Knights are not Owlites.
-Knights cannot use magic.
Maybe... Owlite Battle Sprites whose abilities would be magic-based? *winkwinknudgenudge*

The owlite battle sprite goes against the idea of owlites extinct, but something like that would also be nice,
but i would want some magic weapons.
Also, Owlites might not be the only ones that can use magic.
The power inside of the Core can channel power through the magic weapon...
And the reason I made this post is because there is no magic in the game...
You could use it to ideally "scout around" even when you are dead, which would come with all of the magical weapons.
The reason I say this is because there is not much worse that trying to kill a puppy in a corner, dieing and not being able to see what is happpening
very well (this would be more useful with solo, but could also be useful to know for anything).
Both summonings and monster control have the same problem: use a minion and run away until it kill everyting for you.
It needs penalties like if it gets hit your knight loses life too. Oh, and we can already activate mecha knights with energy or vials.
Buffs/debuffs? Use trinkets for buffs and a poison weapon to make enemies weaker. Also this will be the job of future battle sprites.
Basically all that can be done with magic has a more "technical" alternative already available in the game.
With the summon and control, your knight would freeze so it could be mauled (That's the risk).
Buffs will do like 150% damage on next attack or protect from 1 attack(so you don't have to shield)
With mecha knights, you would ideally be trading a weapon slot for some weak, free mecha knights.
After I take my autodesk maya modeling class in the summer, I'm going to make some models. I'm going to design an EPIC plotline and come up with amazing ideas related to the owlites and magic. And then there were spells. Thank you, Earthboundimmortal for telling me what do this summer and in my free time besides game. Thank you.

Agreed. Although the game does use medieval themes, this is clearly a techknights game and not a magic knights game.

Magic is original, surprisingly. I don't support this honestly but I'm going to give more explanation.
Magic needs a Power Bar, which is conveniently located below the health bar. Magic includes spell tomes, robes, rods and arcane tables.
Somewhere in the Haven Bazaar, someone sells Spell Tomes, Rods and Robes. An NPC like this would be Konjuring Kat.
How'd he end up in Haven?
After Margrel was summoned his summoning circle was useless, so he went to Haven to make an actual living.
Anyways, back to important matters. Spell Tomes can either be bought or found. By found, I mean dropped by monsters. Monsters have a chance to drop Spell Tomes, for example a Gun Puppy can drop a Shoot Bullet spell, a Devillite can drop a Throw Office spell. All monsters (excluding Bosses and mini-Bosses) have a very rare chance to drop a Summon tome.
Spells, like items, should have stars on them. They can be enhanced to become stronger but will consume more power. Spells can be enhanced by using an Arcane Table (Skyrim much?). Arcane tables, like the Crafting machine, needs materials, energy and crowns to make/upgrade Spell tomes, making spells will cost you based on stars.
More items such as robes and rods can enhance spells, add more power or both. Robe can either enhance melee attack (enhances attack power but exclusive to rods only) or magic attack (enhances spells to cost less power or make them stronger). Rods defines as a much better option to enhancing spells' power, an "Elemental Rod" can enhance all spells but by a teeni-weeni amount, however a "Fire Rod" can enhance fire spells much greater than the Elemental Rod, but it enhances fire spells only.
Keep in mind, I don't support it, neither do I not support it, I'm just giving more definition to it.

a trinket of resuscitation, and more trinket available soon...
magic is good, if used propely, but:
we need to introduce a brand new mana system.
we need to care about spells being OP. like resurrect.
we need to buff enemies.
we still need to balance stuff.
in the end, magic could be good as weapon enchantment. NOT like an uv. it would be a temporary enchantment.
Now how are you going to regulate the use of this magic? What does it run on? How do we gain these abilities? Do they take up weapon slots? Current monsters don't present a vast challenge to many players; are they going to be buffed in exchange for these new powers? How exactly will magic differ from the current ranged weapons that we already have? Not to mention that this is primarily a science-based MMORPG where our main characters' status as living creatures is questionable...
Needs moar details. I am going to reserve further comment until then.
Also, asking everyone else to fill in the details isn't really a good idea. We like to have a roughly finished version of your concept to discuss rather than something that's mainly incomplete.
Clearly magic will run on the power of friendship.
The more names in your friends list and less on ignore, the more damage it deals. That means I will be particularly screwed and be dealing negative magic damage.

I doubt too many know, but I'm hoping a make a fan game. Instead of magical spells, some/all of the heroes will have psychic powers. They'll convert energy (that game's MP) into fire, healing, ice, sleepiness, etc. This WOULD be something like magic, but it's not quite the same. Some parts of this system was inspired by the Earthbound/Mother series.
I just wanted to mention it because it came to mind when I read this thread.

Like someone said earlier, it should run on mana, so you can't spam it too much.
It will take up a weapon slot, it will run on mana.
The story of it could go like this:
While the recon knights were in the clockworks, they found a spellbook of a black kat, and learned magic.
Many years later, moorcraft manor had a library full of spellbooks to make staffs/orbs from.

I think that magic will be more of a supportive weapon, not a directly attacking one,
so for some direct damage, I think there should be fireballs, iceballs, thunder etc.
Sleep spells, so that sleep is actually part of the game.

But yeah, being new is not a very good excuse. I wouldn't call it "invalid" like Luguiru did, since making higher-quality posts does require some experience, but it is possible to be entirely new to the forums (even without having been a "forum owl") and make excellent posts right off the bat. It's okay to ask questions about stuff you don't know, but try not to cushion it in excuses.
People won't ignore you for making lots of tiny posts. They ignore suggestions they aren't interested in. That sometimes extends to thread that they've read and consider boring.

Now on-topic, a new line of weapons which aren't swords, guns or bombs but staffs could work but it needs to be properly balanced and they shouldn't be too similar to guns.
we are getting battle sprites soon, and that will add another new dimension to gameplay and combat, i really do not see the need to complicate gameplay anymore, if it aint broken, dont fix it

Yeah, I'm gonna assume that the Dragon Sprite (not bothered searching up its name :P) uses MAGIC to breath fire :P And not have some gas pipe system in it XD

1 it will be the same grinding but now with 3 more buttons to press. not exactly a new dimension.
2 3 buttons do not complicate so much. complicated would be some other suggestions. if we can have a skill bar, it will all be simplified. but, obviously, magic is not gonna be implemented, so no skill bar.
as for magic, it should not be a skill but a new weapon type (staffs and orbs). we don't need that right now. we have other things to fix.
