Really annoying thought...

So, I got bored and figured I'd fire off another hour in SK...

Meanwhile, a random thought occurred to me. About the RSS nerf and such. How bombers went from having a very nice, efficient bomb to showing our short fuses and rage as we watched it get nerfed.... badly...

Then I thought about autoguns....

You see, even the normal line, i.e. pepperbox line when fully heated and 4* can be used to effectively OCKO nearly any monster (for non-one-shot monsters see: stratum 5&6 trojans, lumbers, and the lucky dodgy things known as the occasional kat, fiend, and gremlin (mostly just stratum 6)), and, as a matter of fact, it can basically annihilate nearly anything you point it at and charge at. Unless of course you're pointing the thing at an oiler.... then that's your fault.

Now, while I get a machine gun is primarily for mid-range and lesser, we're talking about rooting the knight for a 15 shot clip (2-3seconds), after charging for roughly 4 seconds on average, that also gets a normal attack and with the normal line pushes the normal enemies away (to a point, trojans and lumbers discounted). We took out a 4* bomb that was OCKO'ing things with a 'set and forget' routine, but was also damaged by the fact that it had no regular method of attack and the bomber was all but vulnerable those 3 seconds or so that bomb was charging up.

I'm not saying shardbombs need to be brought back. I'm saying that your autoguns are likely being misused in quite the same way the RSS was. While I'd love to leave that alone, it somewhat irks me that the autogun does pretty much the same basic thing in a different pretty package.

A proposal: Reduce the massive buff that the charge of this gun line has vs. its normal clip... but make its' KD (knockdown) level a little higher. Where the enemy has to stay there, but stands a little more chance of staying alive for a second round.

Reasons: You destroyed a weapon that had the same basic function (in the sense that all one had to do is charge, place themself/the weapon just on the enemy and let the charge loose), and provided less protection against enemies... however this one still perfectly has both intact.

Reasons against: The "Balance" of the game would be ruined.

I'm simply asking for a change, you could also refer to Luguiru's Suggestions book which so kindly provides various stipulations, ideas, and the almighty and brutal numbers. It also has links, and some more rationality than my brain does at any waking hour with this game.

Pepperboxes demolish those too.

The reason why it isn't fixed is because very few people actually use the pepperbox. The pepperbox is fairly balanced. It still is a little overpowered, but it's not obnoxious enough to be largely noticable. There's a bigger problem on (in?) our hands...
