Now I get your point. Though I can't really talk about it since I've been playing since before the missions update and was already full 5* when it came, meaning I passed through everything with ease... Being unable to see if the missions actually prepare you for the boss or even if the new JK needs preparation at all since even when I use low * gear against him I still have the experience that people with that same gear wouldn't have. All I can really say is that in the past it didn't prepare you to it at all, you had to go trial and error until you learn it (I like it this way, but I know that not everyone is like me).
How do you feel about the difficulty of the game overall?
Example of GOOD Difficulty: Unknown Passage.
Example of BAD and/or FAKE difficulty: Compound 42, Winterfest Mission, Haven (there's people there...)
I think one of the problems is the fact that T2 only has two bosses, so it's easy to get stuck at that level as a 2* player and get frustrated with the small number of choices you have for training on and learning how to play the game successfully, without dying too much.
P.S. I soloed RJP up to the boss in 2* gear today. for fun.
The problem with C42, is that it doesn't test your skill- it tests your gear. It makes you answer one basic question: Can I manipulate my items to grant me max+max+low or higher fire defense? Bonus points for that much poison as well via dragon/fallen.
Can someone tell me this: Why do so many people find unknown passage hard??
The thing is completely time based as I learned on my FIRST run and requires no killing of monsters or even real concentration. You just need to walk around with a plate shield up for 3 minutes.
On topic now, the diffculty of the game has ceased to exist. Arsenal stations, nerfing (of wolvers and zombies especially) as well as people thinking that being able to do FSC (since the non stop farming of it since missions) means that the game is not only easy but people think it is hard anywhere other than FSC.
An example, however, of what people have previously said about this game need I.g teamwork:
Heart of ice in a 4 man party, we died within the first two rooms because no one helped each other.
I then duo ed it with a mate, and we finished it rather quickly. Dying only because he died and I'd walk into a random greiver bullet.
So yes, teamwork and real "skill," as Njthug put it are key to making this game a laugh.
Dragneel-Wiki pretty much hit it in the head. And I again apologize for my initial ramblings as it doesn't convey this properly enough.
I've cleared Jelly King and Roar both with 2-man teams better than a team of 4, but what I'm saying is exactly what Dragneel has said. The Game itself doesn't need to be made easy, it's true that everything is doable and once you figure most of it out, you're good to go.
This last weekend, I think I died a total of twice on regular missions, once solo'ing a T3 arena with a bunch of shock mechs and once on Jelly king. I think those are appropriate amounts of dying and I'm fine with that, at my current level.
What I dislike, and again Dragneel understands this, is when you first start the game, the difficulty has a weird jump up, then down, then back up.
It doesn't prepare you properly for Jelly King or any boss passed Snarbo. It just goes 'hey, by the way, this boss isn't just a step up from the last. It's going to make you realize how little you've learned until now'. I just believe there should be a proper balance, to help along the newer players.
Can I do it now? Certainly. Does it annoy me trying to join random people who've gotten to that level, because most of my regular team-mates sleep early? Heck yes. Because many, many of those people haven't been properly prepared.
In short, the difficulty of anything you face currently IS FINE. The problem isn't what you're facing, it's the pacing at which you face them at.
