Question is : How did you bind your controller's buttons ? (I need to gain "skill" in LD ! è.é )

It's not easy for me to find people who use a(n Xbox ) controller in SK to talk about it.
I've changed maybe 3 times the mapping of my one in a year, never really satisfied.
Now I got an issue, a Krogmocoins limiting issue : a Lockdown issue !
I use to see fast bees turning around me, stunlocking me with ease, switching between their blades at each hit when I'm still searching for my second weapon ... aaand I'm dead without being able to make a single shot! Frustrated :s

So my mapping is now :
Left Joystick : Up/down/right/left
Cross : Potions
XYAB : Weapon 2341
Right Joystick : Turning directions
LB : Activate Auto-Aim
LT : Defense
RB : Steam Voice Chat
RT : Attack
Pressing Joysticks : Next/previous Weapon (I'll might change that)
(select:social - X:loadouts - start:character-loadout-inventory)

I'm up to any suggestions !

google it.

Google "Spiral Knights" "controller" "GM"

theres a thread about controller mapping. Lots of GMs contributed to it. not sure why it wasnt stickied.

That's actually exactly the setup I use, RB aside because I don't voice chat. I've got next weapon there, instead, which I use for switch shooting with Alchemers on my alt, which is not often. I find the constant buttons to be better for non switch-shooting-switching.

@Canine Vladmir
I tried googling that, only got one result on the SK forums and that was not quite correct. Also replaced "Spiral Knights" with site:forums.spiralknights.com. Nothing yet again. Replaced "controller" with "gamepad" and once more, nothing. It'd be nice if you were to actually see that your instructions work before you tell people to follow them. I think our OP here (and my curiosity) might appreciate that quite a bit.

Oh yeah, you should also note that Google search results aren't the same to everyone. Google is creepy like that, digging in yer cookies and stuff to personalise things. With strict searches, that should be irrelevant, though.

I find it works best to map left stick to move, right stick to face, L1 is shield, R1 is attack, L2/R2 are change weapons, dpad is vials, face buttons are commands (like followme), L3 is toggle autoaim and R3 is voice chat.

You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

If you prefer wiki/non-forum format, see the wiki page.

Now I need to try my gamepad on SK... :3

I use a Gamepad always both in LD and PvE. Without it I completely suck. (I suck with a mouse.)

You'll want something really comfortable otherwise it's completely worthless as you'll probably get annoyed a lot more often. I use the default layout and I'm able to do very well in LD.

No matter what layout you choose there will always be pros and cons to each.

they should change controller controls

Controller controls have 8-directional movement, right? They should make it omnidirectional movement and aiming with the analog sticks.

I use pretty much the same setup except I use the pad to select weapons, buttons for vials and LB for next weapon (my RB was auto-aim, but it's broken so I don't use it)

I use the same layout I had

I use the same layout I had for Phantasy star.

A = attack
B = unbound
X = defend
Y = unbound
D-pad = vial slots 1-4
Left-shoulder = prev. weapon
Right-shoulder = next weapon
Left-trigger = auto-aim toggle (for gunning, default on)
Right-trigger = Strafe mode (also for gunning, default off)

Left analog = Point at (direction) and move (direction), for 3ps style movement
Right analog = unbound
Left analog button = /help
Right analog button = unbound

B and X will eventually be bound for pet skills.

Huh, what? Have you ever actually tried using a gamepad with analogue sticks in this game? You get analogue control.

Nice answers

@Canine-Vladmir your links were very usefull so thank you ! You were wright, the thread should have been stickied.

@Reginaldkirby Movement & Direction on the same analog would be tricky in LD, but I can't blame you about being nostalgic of PSO. :3

From now on I'll use shoulder buttons for prev./next weapons now (LB-RB)
Seems more efficient for switching to stun-lock until the end of the days ! è.é
