Away with these silly five word descriptions. Away with best and worst and explanations. Away with two words.

We're trying yet something new – hopefully something better.

Our discussion this week will be about the Vortex Bombs (Graviton and Electron).

If you couldn't already guess, here's what we want you to do:

• Tell a short story about your experiences with one or both of these bombs. Perhaps you've experienced the massive carnage that often comes with zombies+Vortex+sword charge. Perhaps you've felt the pain of the super slow walk speed while charging? Tell us a story. True stories are preferred but not mandated.

• Write a poem about the Vortex bombs. Haikus (5 syllables, 7 syllables, 5 syllables. Three lines total) are preferred but not at all mandated.

Note that depending on the quality of your story/verbal wonderment, we may or may not be able to get everyone who contributes on the show.
Conversely, here's some motivation. Agazide (big name in Jempire and admin of the Adventure is Delicious blog) will be joining us this week. If you make something good, you might hear him say your name... :o
Also, writing an awesome poem might very well score you Player of the Week... just fyi.

Have fun! Ya'll don't let us down now!

PS - Oh Vog... put this in General Discussion again. Sorrrry!

Written in a few minutes.

Based on a True Story.

This is the story of two players in Lockdown.
One had a electron bomb and the other had a fang of vog.
Sadly they werent on the same team and both their scores where terribly low.
By fate, King Kromo decided to put these two lovebirds together for just one match.
The girl recon said to the other boy recon, "Why not team up and make those Jemps waste a buttload of CE?"
The boy recon happily agreed. "You set the bomb off, and ill uncloak and do a Charged Fang of Vog Charge!"
Now by nature, Strikers are extremely dumb. When a capture point is being neutralized, its their instinct to rush in, flourishs flourishing.
of course, the girl recon set a bomb right in the middle of that point. A skolver zoomed in and got immediately captured in the vortex.
But where were the enemies? Suddenly,Boy Recon uncloaks out of midair with a charged FoV in hand. With a spartan yell, he unleashes his fiery fury.
Another thing about Skolver Strikers, they light up like a Christmas tree. Oh! how fun those two recons had.
Theres not one thing more enjoyable than a Stiker shocked AND on fire.
At the end of the match, followed by a few swears from the other team, the recons said farewell and haven't seen each other yet to this day. : (

I made that a year or so ago, but I maintain that it remains applicable even now and will firmly stand by vortexes as one of the most underappreciated weapons. Not only in the sense that "it's not useless, it's a support weapon" but that even it's dps capabilities are much higher than people give it credit for, and some of the easiest speedrun methods rely on Vortexes.

FSC can be run disgustingly fast by spamming vortexes+blitz, and we managed to successfully run every mission with shard bombs and vortex combos.

Not to mention that vortexes bring in some of the most unpredictable screwups in runs, thanks to the movement control. Nothing like doing everything perfectly with your partner of bombers then suddenly having both of you sucked into the middle of three lumbers mid-charge and no way out!

And let's not forget how cheaty it can be in LD; no other weapon has that trick!

mmm, black hole bombs

I usually like having these things around in the parties I run with. They're excellent for setting up big damage opportunities with other weapons, especially swords. The various Brandish, Sealed Sword and Troika upgrades all have charge attacks that benefit from having a large clump of monsters to work with, and I'm certainly fond of taking my DVS to any enemies that aren't going to be affected by its knockback.

Of course, it can be risky staying up close to these bombs, given that the monsters inside that vortex are still perfectly lethal. Especially when dealing with zombies, which can lead to what I like to call a puke-nado, where a zombie uses its breath attack, gets sucked into the vortex, and doesn't have its attack interrupted. Then they get sent swirling around and around for about three seconds, puking all the while, creating a nice little circle in front of where they're facing where you're liable to get hit with a status effect if you aren't careful. I've seen this (and got hit by it *cough*) quite a few times when a partymate has brought a vortex to FSC, though I don't blame 'em for it at all.

After the first little bit or so of blast network being out, I made my first real bomb- the electron charge (I won most of my matches- for I had played bomberman before). I already had a graviton bomb that I'd crafted from a super blast bomb, but the idea of an electron bomb with a status and elemental damage and new weapon! sounded too awesome to me. So I crafted it and got a slime high UV... and I decided to keep it.

I've solo'd all of the jelly king levels (with 3 players watching me, dead as I'd left them sadistically), comboed it with Radiant Sun Shards for massive damage that doesn't exist any more, and devastated FSC parties with it since... Now, I rarely use it.

It makes the game too easy. It works with everything. It allows no freedom and solves everything and makes you win. I did recently FOV enemies while Zeddy vortexed them, and that was amusing as all get out. Constantly burning my health away is fun.

(I don't really care about your "big name players" or any of that. They all just reject me anyway and either run FSC or sit in Haven all the time. :P And why "player of the week"? What does this even...)

If you don't care, then you don't care.

I could hardly care whether you care or not. Your preference is your preference, and I respect it without question.

Perhaps they might not reject you if you take the time to smile every now and then. The game doesn't always have to be so competitive and technical.
And if you do smile and I just have a hard time seeing it through the tone-less text of the internet, I take it back and apologize.

Why Player of the Week? Because community and because Steam group.

I met Brady in FSC doing a speedrun. Unfortunately, I somewhat messed up, but the Vortex shenanigans were still epic.

Electron vortex
I could kiss you for using.

:/

Well I'm sorry to hear that, Fehzor.

Granted, in the example you gave, I think you were fine – I would have played along. I think Urgrandpa was being a [redacted], to no fault of your own. Those things you just have to let slide, because there's ALWAYS someone who doesn't agree with you on the internet. ALWAYS.
You could mandate that your name is Fehzor or that 2+2=4 and someone (multiple people, I imagine) will disagree.

But either way. You have made your point. Do what you like, for your life is yours and you make it what it is – who am I or anyone else (i.e. Urgrandpa) to say otherwise.

Here's my story

This story is about the deadliest bomb known to Knights, the Vortex Bombs.
Of course, of course, everyone knows about the unbelievably high dps capabilities of the Vortex Bomb coupled with charged swords right?...
But did you know they can kill even faster than that?

One of my favourite things to do is to let as many enemies spawn in the screen as possible, let loose a few vortex bombs and when it's sucked up pretty much all it can, I'd unleash a (usually) charged Voltedge followed by two quick strikes. I love seeing all the numbers fly up. D25 on a Vana run springs to mind, opening all 8 chambers, ignoring all the zombies in the middle, Voltex/Brandish combo and they're all dead in 3 charges.

One day it was a teensy bit different. You see, Vortex bombs have this tendency to "suck" up the players itself if they get caught in the middle and can't get out because the monsters are in the way. Using bombs also tend to remove one's invincibility frames. Players tend to panic when surrounded and can't move. Players tend to have difficulty switching weapons if they're panicking whilst holding a bomb; instead they keep using the bomb. All the monsters tend to look at the player when playing solo.

Can't move, no invincibility frames, trying to switch weapons too fast and all the zombies were aiming towards me.
They all attacked at the same time. Death from full health in less than 2 seconds. Nothing has killed me faster other than the self inflicted cursed bomb speed death.

Record for the fastest natural death ever in a Clockworks run at <2seconds.

I would like the shock themed

I would like the shock themed one as i am planning to get it at some point, i just need to get the coins to buy the recipes. I quitted LD completely for now and BN is most of the time dead, i would play US but i have much harder time playing due i only get 2-3 bars there.

I will be using this for FSC (not just there, other places too) and quitting using Shivermist Buster for it as Lord Vanaduke is very boring as he just sits there helplessly to a point i feel a little sorry for the poor guy. The main reason i will be using this bomb is for the enemys such as the Slag Walkers, placing one down and using a DA/Brandish charge attack on them as they are sucked in does a huge amount of damage. This is enough to one shot them with a high enough damage bonus in a two player party and near death in 3-4 parties.

Not just swords but some guns can do it too such as the Blitz Needle and the Alchemer lines, bombs too as it will be easier to damage them all at once or inflict stats from the haze bombs.

"Tell a short haikus about your experiences"

__First, I'd like to ask:
can haikus flow together?
_Not sure on this point.

____Too lazy to wait,
I'll just assume that they can.
____Here's the story:

_When I first used one,
it was graviton on slimes.
_It worked decently...

...but it was too slow.
I had no bombing armor,
_____so low CTR.

___I moved on to swords,
because they swung instantly.
__For then, that was that.

Later, with more gear,
I tried graviton again.
_It was better, but...

____ ...still not as useful.
But by then swords got boring,
_____so I kept bombing.

___I used nitronome.
Enemies flew out of range,
____so I tried again.

_____I tried shivermist.
It was great for that one boss,
___but wasn't much fun.

____I tried the DR,
but it was shadow damage...
__hard to kill zombies...

____Then, one day, I got:
Four dumb krogmo coin boosters.
___I don't play Lockdown...

_____"Oh, but wait!" I thought.
There's that one bomb that deals shock.
_______"Maybe I'll get that.

_I bought two more boosts,
then I used ALL SIX AT ONCE.
and played, and played, and...

Then, needless to say,
_I had all the recipies.
__I craft electron.

_____Immediately,
_I run to test on zombies,
and this bomb works great!

___Enemies get trapped!
I get a few scratches, but...
____overall, it's great!

_But then, there's no blitz...
Nothing to do the damage...
___and I can't kill stuff.

_______So, I get thinking:
"What makes things do more damage?"
_______So I grab poison.

____Amazing combo!
Decent enough raw damage,
__and clumped together!

_____Add mercurial,
and you can get away safe.
___It's just so perfect.

Twenty. Was that okay?
