--SKGCL--

Greetings! My name is Jediel, the host of the new upcoming tournament, the SKGCL or also known as the Spiral Knights Guild Colosseum League. This is the first SKGCL competition so we, the creators of the SKGCL, hope to start this tournament with a BANG! So anyway, the SKGCL has two different types of categories. First is the SKGLL: the Spiral Knights Guild Lockdown League. And the second, the SKGBNL: the Spiral Knights Guild Blast Network League. These two Leagues will have 3 prizes each (one for T1, T2 and T3). So the maximum number of guilds who can join in each Tier and League is 15. The minimum is 5. So there will be a table of positions, of course, the concept of getting more points goes like this. 1 win = 3 points. 1 draw = 2 points. 1 loss = 1 point. Don't play = 0 points! It's easy right?! The number of matches your guild team will play will be determined by the number of guilds taking part. To create one Guild Tier and League team, you must pay 500cr to enable that team to play in the Leagues (Lockdown/ Blast Network). To join just write down the name of your guild below. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE PERMISSION TO JOIN THE LEAGUE BY A GUILD MASTER! And the money? Just mail it to me as I am also the treasurer of the Tournament as well (IGN: Jediel). The Winning Prizes will be announced later on. So...that's it! See you at the SKGCL! The T1/T2 Tournaments are optional by the way.

Note: More than 500cr for the admmission is acceptable and appreciated!

Jediel

Some improvements for Lockdown Tournament

Rule #1 No substituting other people for a GvG match, if you have less people online, postpone the match to a further time.

Rule #2 If one of your lockdown team cannot meet at that timezone, using one of your guild members is fine. (But as stated in #1, Do not sub).

Rule #3 Respect other guilds during the match. Raging from teammates, abusing, racism, etc. will cause disqualification. Racism to members will cause a report and disqualification.

Rule #4 Using voice serves (Eg. Ventrilo, Mumble, etc.) is allowed.

Rule #5 Absolutely NO SPYING. We will send a referee to the guild for a temporary time to check for spying. Any guild caught spying will be disqualified.

Rule#6 No CE Reviving. We will spectate the matches to see if anyone CE Revives. (An energy sound will appear after someone revives, so it will be easy to find out). One of my guildies had a suggestion, : "I think the only legitimate way to actually see if a person does CE Rev is to have all participants screenshot their mist before and after a match and they can't have full or 0 mist. If they fail to produce screenshots if a referee asks for one, the guild forfeits the match points. The event seems more for fun than anything so I doubt anyone would stoop to low levels to cheat." So please take a screenshot of your energy before you start, thanks.

Rule #7 If a guild forfeits the game, the score will be counted as 900/500-0

We will try to balance the guilds on EU vs EU or US vs US.

Win 3 Points.
Draw 1 Point.
Loss 0 Points.

Suggestion

The point with this is to have a winner, and the winner is suppose to have won the most games. Having two draws being worth more than one win will not work. My suggestion is to have a diffrent point system:

Win - 3 points

Draw - 1 point

Loss - 0 points

Forfit (Not participating) - counts as score 500/900-0

It's only fair. Loosing the last match and with that point taking the lead and winning the whole thing is just wrong.

In 6v6

Nice Idea. SKGCL.

Suggestions:
1) Set the date before everyone signs up. It allows people to make sure they will come BEFORE they sign up. Otherwise you'll get alike a bunch of dropouts later. Trust me. It happens. Experience :L.
2) Have a website about the SKGCL. Link it up in the SK Forums. Way easier to organize things instead of everything in one SK Forum Post. You can set the rules in a webpage instead of jamming it all into a post.
3) Specify what kind of tournament this is. Round Robin? Single/Double Elimination? Gives people a better idea of what they're committed in doing before they sign up.
4) Are you going to continue this like every month or something? If you do, you should create a "ladder" on your website. It will show like the rankings that are more accurate according to the tournament games. (Instead of that Lockdown Leaderboard in SK -_-)

I wish you good luck on your Lockdown Tournament Journey.

No longer typing on Kindle T.T

1. Ignore what Grittle said. Gear is a part of the game too.
2. You know we little guilds don't really have much time playing. So I suggest elimination from the start. Maybe best of 3/5.
3. Yeah, Zade's ladder concept is really nice. It would allow us have an alternative method of ranking the guilds instead of looking at the *spammed* leaderboard. We could do it on weekends; the points are reset each month. 3 pts for win, 1 pts for loss etc...However, only a limited amount of matches between the same 2 guilds will be counted as marks (for example, starting from the 6th match onward the matches between Guild-A and Guild-B will not be counted into the ladder)
This could also allow us to create separate ladders for those who really want to compete (a.k.a Jem, Rig, etc) and those of us (like me) who just wanted some fun.

In the end it is a problem of feasibility :P. For me, I won't be online much even on weekends T.T

Now for some more personal issues:
@Msaad and Jediel, I guess I could contact my guildmates for you to see at which time are they available. However, keep in mind that we are an Asian guild so we are probably more comfortable at Asian nights (We use GMT+8 as standard guild time). If it was at weekends/during Easter it would be more mobile, but seriously we can't play on the same schedule as the US and EU guilds.

Your Reality Echoer Vivid-Gluttony (a.k.a Vivid the Gelatinous Tummy)

edit: And please, allow energy revives; I do a couple of those when I rage :P

I'm not in this but I have some suggestions

assuming it hasn't started already:
-Double Elim takes way too long. Single elimination is much better.
-Matches can easily be lost or won based on a fluke, so best to make each GvG a best of 3 at least.
-While I don't agree with everything Grittle said, he does have a point, you don't want the richest guild to win because they just have outright better stuff. Create a set of rules on what you can/can't do, covering every controverisal LD issue. Do you want to allow Auto Target? UVs? Trinkets? CE revives? (I would suggest none of the above but that's just me) Naturally those should be agreed on by the players.
-If you want to do a ranking system of any sort if you plan on this being repeated, the matches that would determine ranking have to be entirely supervised by whoever is running this thing and not at all based on LD leaderboards.
-SKGCL doesn't flow very well :/ Maybe something shorter like SKCL or SKPL(Spiral Knights Pro Leauge)? Acronyms with "K"s that don't have it as the second letter in a four-letter acronym tend to look and sound awkward.
-Make sure everyone knows the dates for things happening.

Other than that, Yay! Semi-competitive Spiral Knights! :D :D :D
(esports for the win :)

@Vivid

I don't think energy res should be there, rich guilds have advantage over smaller poorer guilds with CE RES.

@Klipik

1. I Guess that's up to Jed to decide.

2. That's not a bad idea, i'll certainly look it up, Thanks~

3. UV and Gear do not matter. Skill does. AT is optional, UV's and trinkets are allowed, the guilds who fight these matches can take a step further towards their power, as they all say "Win or lose, it's just a game". As for a strong guild vs. weak guild, like vivid said, i'll certainly do my best to balance them.

4. This is my idea: 16 guilds, 4 Guilds in 1 group. The first two from each group advances to quarter finals, then semi-finals, then finals. I'm also appointing referees so they could supervise if anyone does CE res or anything. (Spying, etc.)

5. I think the name is better the way it is. But thanks!

Some quick afterthoughts and responses (still Klipik)

I have see previous tournaments where the games were 5v5 instead of 6v6, with one ref on each team staying in the base to spot any revives.

I know that skill is definitely more of a factor than gear, but a team of equal skill going up against someone like Jempire (happened to my guild by accident once) whose a-team has like 70% ASI Med or higher weapons and probably shock and shadow defense on their skolvers will lose because of the gear differential. Gear doesn't make up for skill, but it can be a determining factor in a way you might not want it to be.

Do you follow any other esports? I would suggest checking out a league like the GSL, MLG or any of the other major starcraft II leauges to see how they structure their leauges and tournaments.

I've asked my guildmates in Jempire if they wanted to participate, they said No, but a newer generation team of Jempire could be brought up. Lockdown is not balanced, it needs balancing, Gear UV's, and all don't match up with skill, skill is needed first, then gear. #Fact.
I'll ask Jediel if that could be useful, thanks!

MSAAD <3

Actually I have a few ideas that is...derrrrrrrp :(
1. CE revives should be allowed; however, the prize for the winner should be lowered to make reviving over a certain extent (say, 16/3232) entirely not economical. Gear...ASI VHs are problems. But srsly I don't find it fair to restrict players in using the gear they spent their pocket money on.

2. As Zade suggested, why not make this a ladder? We got guild matches, but they are all elimination games with only 1 winner. Making it a ladder would allow more guilds to play...and less competitive. A semi-competitive LD league could maybe *solve the tension between the various derp guilds*

3. Split this into SKPL (Spiral knight Professional-CE-burner league) and SKNL (Spiral Knights Nubby-Nubby-Newb League)? For the SKPL, make the ladder less and only include the "proer" guilds like Jem, Rig, Aequitas, etc etc etc etc etc... For the SKNL, we could include the less known guilds (or those who are not known at all) AND the new-generation teams of the "proer" guilds (Like what Msaad said). However, for the new-generation pro guild teams we need them to give us a list (maybe 12 ppl) of who might be playing. The team could only select players out of the initial list.

edit: YEAH 5v5 would be really nice :O and that means we need 1 less person online! xD

Anyway, good luck! SK really needs another form of LD competition that doesn't involve the leaderboard that actually looks like a random number generator :V

Um,

"the Spiral Knights Guild Lockdown League. And the second, the SKGBNL: the Spiral Knights Guild Blast Network League. These two Leagues will have 3 prizes each (one for T1, T2 and T3)"

... wut?

Don't get me wrong, I'm okay at T2 BN, but T1 and T3 just has such a different dynamic, Y'know?

Now that the snark has passed, once again it seems like only lip service is paid to BN and from the above quote, is not realistically included in the plan. It's mentioned exactly 0 times afterward.

@Vivid

Perfect idea, i'd take 8 of these 'Pro' Guilds and 8 of these 'starter' guilds.
So far for the 'Pro' guilds we got

Impervious

Rigorous

The Fallen

A Perfect World

First Blood

Hamsters

(We still need more, any you suggest? :/ )

And as for the Starter guilds, we got

Jedi Master

Tainted Perfection

Reality Echo

Reign of Fire

The Lazy Gunner

Aenigma

So that makes it 6 guilds from each, i'd need 2 more for both the leagues.

Ok, so my plan is that the eliminations start off from one league, it will start with 8 guilds, in one league which will randomly fight another guild.
The one who passes the Quarter Finals goes to the semi final, then to finals, and whoever wins it will get a fabulous prize (Which Jed will give >:O).

As for 5V5, that means one referee will be monitoring the match (i.e my alt) by joining the guild for a temporary time.

I'll make the groupings as soon as i get enough guilds.

Some suggestions

@Msaad

Maybe instead of having the 2 leagues, we could do it like a bracket where a higher seed from a 'pro' guild plays a different game. Then we would make it double elimination so even they lose they can be still part of the losers bracket where they would then be with other guilds that have lost and they would be guaranteed the amount of games they signed up for. If you need help, contact me because I've done this type of thing with other games and they've been pretty successful. :)
