Im new looking for guide on what to be doing
joined a party and got to point where i could not go any further something about equipment

Don't think there is a walkthrough since most of what you need to do is explained by NPCs along the way. For example, at the point where you need additional equipment to continue, the Spiral Warden there tells you what equipment you are missing. If you hit the wall and don't have the right equipment yet, just head back to Haven then run through Tier 1 again. You can buy two star Tier 2 equipment at reasonable costs on the /trade channel, or find someone to craft it for you given the materials, crowns and energy. You can also buy recipes to craft equipment yourself.

You probably got to the 8th
You probably got to the 8th floor and there's a man and a screen blocking your way to go further down. In order to go down further to tier 2(floors 9-17), you need all your equipment and 1 weapon to be 2 star.

Don't rush it, take it
Don't rush it, take it slowly. You barely started playing today. I'm sure you feel "damn man tier 1 is so easy" but my bet is you were carried by your party. Do at least few runs in tier1 seriously.

note: cobalt armor is only good at first. try getting wolver or enchanted or pretty much anything else as soon as possible.
check the wiki for sets, so you can start building yours today.
i always keep wiki open when playing

wait what? You can't expect someone to tell you exactly what to use, that's no fun, and what's good for that person may not be good for you. Some experimentation is required.
At the very least come back with some more detailed questions like should I get Cobalt armor or Wolver Armor...
But you still want easy mode eh? Then you should've read Arterra's link. If you just MUST be told to get items, then get these.
A Calibur
A Defender
And the Cobalt Helm & Armor.
You won't be happy with them for long though (except the calibur).
