My lottery thread got shut down and I wasn't even hosting the lottery- it was just a discussion. I say if player-hosted gambling has the chance to scam people out of money and is not allowed in this game then this status poker game should probably get shut down before someone gets hurt.
@Dragneel Your last post before my thread shut down gave me a ton of respect for you. Add me in-game? :3 IGN is same as forums.
Edited just to prevent future arguments. Don't want to spark another.
Unfortunately, Shidara is right in this case. Anyone who has seen what the flower game/dicing/player-hosted gambling did to Runescape would know that it essentially ruined the game; some people like myself even theorize that it is where Jagex got the idea for the SoF and the beginning of "pay to win."
Don't even think we're kidding, you do not know how bad something like this can be in the long-run. This is not a path we want Spiral Knights to go down, and this needs to be nipped in the bud. Hopefully the GMs act on this soon.
@Remexe, "Why would I go through all the trouble of developing a one of a kind game just for the use of scamming?"
First off, it isn't really one of a kind (see Runescape's flower game). Games like this are considered a scam for two reasons; the first is that someone could easily just take the money and walk away without paying out. Even if you don't, others will. People who are long on greed and short on morals will scam with it without a second's hesitation. The second is that the odds are stacked immensely in the dealer's favor and anyone who plays more than a game or two is guaranteed to lose money, unlike this "poker" you advertise it as. Poker is a skill game involving reading and deceiving opponents;
Call a duck a duck, this is a luck game--and one stacked for the host at that.
As the game stands... With two rolls:
Chance to win nothing: 64%
Chance to win double: 32%
Chance to win quadruple: 4%
When hosts inevitably start offering one roll:
Chance to win nothing: 80%
Change to win double: 20%
Chance to win quadruple: 0%
