Clarification
For one I never said I was going to "quit the game" those of you who got that in your head obviously can't read.
[I pledge to no longer make a money purchase on this game just because of today's blatant disrespect to the spiral knights community. For that "Exelius makes a rude gesture at Three Rings."

I clearly said no longer making money purchases, respecting, or trusting them.
If they are going to take a "pranksters day" which is stupid to begin with and stir up anger in a fan base that is already irritated and restless then this is what they have to deal with as a consequence. Pranks have to have limits or it causes more anger than humor and they went over the line considering the current situation/status of the game and its players. I mean the things I said unless I get one of the 3 things I said end of story.

I love the work they put in for this April Fools gag, especially the GM secret forums, I laughed so hard. While at the same time I think like everyoen else it kind sucks as the release notes actually sounded amazing and just what we have been waiting and craving for.

It feels like they have been working on this april fools update than the actual game. Like for instance, the iron slug buff with we have been waiting for over a year ("soon" is year and 1 month, Nick?), rebalanced tortodrones and the poor job at 'balancing' the chaos set.

bug fixes
Does no one read the bug fixes? let me just show you how absurd they were.
- Potentially fixed bug in which players who hit the corner of the fountain at a particular angle were bounced into the water.
- Fixed bug causing players who had submitted more than ten support requests with the same subject line to not be able to load support page.
So yeah, it was kind of obvious guys. yet still, this is really cruel. The worst part was the fact that the title of the article was the coolest part. Dozed and Bombfused, a reference to a fantastic Led Zeppelin song, Dazed and Confused. Even though its fake, I still hope that they make it some day. And one more thing. Spiral Knights! Do you see how much these people wanted this? If you make it, i will be a very happy goose.

This would've been the former under most circumstances, but the fact that there's been absolutely nothing new for, what, eight weeks? Anyway, I can see how some can be angry, but perhaps this gives us an insight into what 000 are working on.

secondly, like 70% of the SK base are between 14-18 (I pulled that out of my thumb)... I don't know how much of you were into reading update/patch notes at that age, but I certainly wasn't.
I can tell you that quite a few of my ingame friends skipped a few phrases in the release notes - most of them just skimmed it for the bare bones of what was thought to be 'new content'.... things like 'pot of coffee' and 'permadeath' were missed by some, but others justified those statements with theories.
Also its not like if Eurydice/Hyperion or whoever else makes an update notice, are you going to say - "I don't believe it, because where is Nick? Only Nick can post updates?" (sorry for bad sentence structure) So stop saying that you should have seen it coming because xyz...
Also don't act like you weren't initially fooled! Only the vets and pr0z from 200x (:P) were unaffected by the update notes... EVERYONE else was talking about it. Its easy to say "you should have seen [insert facetious comment]" and "its so obvious!" but I didn't hear anyone saying that during the day. (I was trollin haven for like 4 hrs)

I've heard numerous people talking about update in Haven, but spoiling good april fool joke is considered uber grumpy and lame in my book.
Check out what OOO are doing for Puzzle Pirate's each year:
B.A.R.R.E.L. in 2013
Emperor Class Sloop in 2012
Cosmic Class Frigate in 2011
Those updates are looking very realistic, with screenshots, new art, new features, elaborate description and so on. Yet you know it's a joke.
All video games are doing it. Look what Mercenary Kings came up with - they've made whole fake teaser with animations and whatnot. And what about Volgarr?
I mean seriously you've got to be a way below 13 years old to believe that it was real update.

So in Canada, one of our Senators twitted yesterday he was going to resign his seat. Then he told people it was April's Fool.
Result? Public outcry, not only that the joke was bad taste and confusing, because it gives the public the impression that this Senator is not taking his job seriously.
I can see some similarities between yesterday's "release notes" and the Senator's story above. The same criticism that applied to said Senator could also be applied to the Game Master(s).
TL ; DR. There are things that you can throw a joke at. But be cautious when it comes to jokes that could fire back at your jobs after April 1st.

More or less, yes. That's what I'm expecting. As I've pointed out all MMO/games I'm involved into makes such things. Actually I'm looking forward every year to see what they come up with. I would be somewhat disappointed if they don't post such doodle.
I may understand that few got the reference joke about Jinxed Idol from YPP, but...
Did anyone really though that "cuckoo sound effects played any time crowns are added to inventory" is a real thing? Crowns are added all the time - every mobs drop crowns. It would be constant cuckoo sound spamfest.
Did anyone really though that "Player's name will be replaced with his/her rank above head" was a real thing? It would be really "unique" MMO, where you can't see other players names.
Did anyone really though that there will be random chance for character's permadeath?
Did anyone really though that there will be attack that "render a knight idle for 10 minutes"?
Really, are there anyone disappointed that any of above wasn't a joke?!

Really guys, it's a video game and we already know that they don't have the biggest team in the world to develop things with. Do you guys honestly believe they spent more time on making the April Fools post than they have developing content? Heck no.
They've been working long and hard on this, and they want it out and into the game as much as we want, but are you honestly telling me that you would rather have more frequent updates with broken content over content they have worked on properly? Is it really so much to ask that you wait and have a little patience?
Don't even think about telling me how you've waited for X weeks, or X months, 'cause you know what? I have too!
And you don't see me complaining about it.

I don't know about those other games (which seem to have tiny player bases - again this is from my thumb) but serious games (as in most games :P) don't do that.... why? Because you lose money and trust in the long run!
Can you just imagine if Blizzard made a press release saying they are releasing [insert really stupid game idea].... how much money/fans/etc etc etc would they lose! Think of what happened to THQ please... bad press is not a good thing.

Well, if you did read the announcement, you can tell it's a joke. ("Permadeath" is pretty obvious.)
But why is this a joke that leaves a bad taste in many people's mouth? Because it poked fun at one of the most highly criticize aspect of SK: lack of continuous contents and lack of certain bug fixes. It's like "Sure, everything you guys have demanded for so long, are finally coming true, except, it's in a joke only". And do you know why some of what you mentioned in said joke are demanded for so long? e.g. a new T3 boss in CW.
If you have zero idea about what your customers are looking for, and to further poke fun at them. Well, I only want to entertain one question to you: how many more Jempires and EOS do you think you can grow from this community?
Anyhow, aforementioned Canadian Senator has already apologized to the public for the "tasteless joke". For people who care, Google "Patrick Brazeau" for details.

Dozed and Bombfused!
Strange rumbling noises have been heard emanating from the Core, spawning rumors of something monstrous stirring in the very deepest depths of the Clockworks, then rolling over and hitting the Sloom button. Several squads of brave knights have gone missing, only to be found several days later looking suspiciously well-rested. When questioned, they cannot describe exactly where they have been, saying only that the time passed "as though in a dream". Do their dreams hold the key to the disappearance of Alpha Squad?
- Added new Tier 3 boss, Tortodoze. She lays eggs which hatch into Slumbering Slooms.
- Slumbering Slooms are dormant when spawned, but if woken become enraged until hit with a pot of coffee.
- Tortodoze's sleep attack will render a knight idle for 10 mins unless hit with a pot of coffee.
- Occasionally, the Tortodoze may lay her eggs in the chest of a lucky night, causing a free prize box to pop out at a random time in the future! Small chance of knight permadeath.
- Tortodoze drops the Prismatic Blanket token. Once equipped the blanket will cover a knight who has gone idle or is sleeping.
- Featuring new dubstep lullaby music from Harry Mack!
Spring rainhats!
- New costume helm, Yellow Rainhat
- Matching armor, Yellow Slicker
- Both items available from Plewie, a red snipe who appears in certain Clockworks levels.
UI changes
- New UI will be entirely in soothing shades of lime green, pink, and beige.
- Implemented cuckoo clockworks sound effect anytime crowns are added to your inventory.
- Implemented classic alarm clock bell sound effect anytime crowns are deducted from your inventory.
- Updated several icons to make them more easily-distinguishable from others by adding sparkling indicator.
