^ I never said

I never said they went bankrupt due to april's fools.... but bad decisions and bad press! Bad press = bad press, doesn't matter how you get it or where it comes from (critics or your own player base).

Can you tell me why 'permadeath' is pretty obvious? Take other mmo games. In counter-strike if you're killed you can't revive/respawn until the map is complete. Isn't that permadeath? Many games incorporate an aspect of permadeath to increase the skill level of players.

And yes in retrospect some of the 'additions' to the 'new content' were obviously meant jokingly! I'm not saying it wasn't! I'm saying make something look official and 100% of the time you will be able to dupe people!

I mentioned those two games because they are some of the most popular games on the planet... Blizzard makes money, no? Happy, loyal fanbase/player base, no? Why? Cuz Blizzard doesn't f**k with them thats why! (pardon my french)

Just sayin, man! If you wanna make people lose trust in OOO, then they are on the right track.

Thought Cronus said in his CW Confidential Interview that he likes working at Three Rings because they have good tolerance of his whackoness.

So why people want to get Nick instead? Wait, you did read through that release notes right? The problems the notes meant to fix, don't exist out of thin air and over nights. It's like someone who doesn't brush his teeth frequent enough, eventually he develops Gingivitis.

Anyhow, I think we should move on from this April Fool's prank. After yesterday, my expectation on Three Rings and SK just went one bar lower. Remember folks: you can't be disappointed if you don't have expectation.

That's why I prefer OOO then Blizzard.
Good both are on the market as it lets you chose the game and community you prefer.

I have never played WoW, but as far as I know its community is rather made of humourless bunch of munchkins and bumptious achievers with overgrown ego*, so it's obvious that Blizzard won't risk joking around with such clients. WoW is the biggest MMORPG out there, and people are dead serious about it. Actually playing WoW is not an entertainment any more. It's a faith. You can't joke about faith, can you?

*Please note that I'm not saying all WoW players are like that. There are many decent ones, that's for sure.

Of course Eltia is somewhat right that it was a bit cruel to joke about new content in case of SK, which really needs some new content. A bit tasteless one may say. Personally I wouldn't fret, but that's probably because I'm such an easy-going type, but generally I may agree on that issue.

EDIT:
"Can you tell me why 'permadeath' is pretty obvious?"

Imagine building and developing a character for several years, building huge arsenal, making friends... and then with one random event you lost your character and whole arsenal full of 5* items. Cool isn't it.

Why "permadeath" is an obvious joke? Revive costs CE and CE costs money? Hello? Profit? Are you there?

You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

Can you just imagine if Blizzard made a press release saying they are releasing [insert really stupid game idea].... how much money/fans/etc etc etc would they lose! Think of what happened to THQ please... bad press is not a good thing.

I laughed.

Oh and at all of this? I'm still laughing because everyone is taking this completely seriously. That's all that I'll say and I'll probably not look at this thread again merely because I have a game to make. (Oh, and I should have mentioned that I didn't get to do my April 1st joke about that CradleBound was complete and that I was releasing it today. Gee, I wish. >.>)

Again

No one explained how permadeath would work, so jumping to the conclusion that you lose everything (while it may be true for 80% of permadeath games) is still jumping to a conclusion. It could have meant you're dead for the remainder of the map (with no hp or ce revives available)... etc whatever.. I'm making an example that its open to interpretation.

@Merethif here you go permadeath :P

No one explained how permaban would work also. But, do you want to experience it?

I mean, there are something you can tell just by looking at it and you head will tell you to stay away from it. e.g. permadeath.

^ permaban

Permaban is in line with the terms of (conditions? service? i dunno).. anyway there are guidelines specifying where/why/ and how to get a permaban :P You can't experience permaban without having been looking to get banned in the 1st place

Nothing was mentioned about permadeath.

EDIT: If you read the other posts, you'll notice that I mention a few times I'm not angry, or offended... rather, I'm defending this position since everyone just seemed to sweep it under the carpet...

EDIT #2: I'm sweeping this under the carpet now

Wait, who tell you Permaban = Permanent Ban? It's not in ToS nor Wiki. But if a GM tells you "kiddo you get permabanned". You get the idea, right?

It's the context where the word appears that give you the idea. If it is in a release notes, "death" obviously means death of your knight. You are not seriously expecting permadeath means the death of GM Cronus or Nick, right?

@Eltia

We're off-topic slightly, but:
permaban has a wide range of applications... if the GM tells you you're permabanned... and what you've been doing is spamming on the forum... does this mean you're banned from SK game? It could, and it couldn't. Certainly I don't think a GM would ban a customer from the game. but hey, 'permaban!'

What I was saying is that the 'permadeath' (if you've read #107) statement is open to interpretation, since there was no explaination of how it would work.

You are not seriously expecting permadeath means the death of GM Cronus or Nick, right?
Obviously it would apply to yourself, tho, why would it affect anyone else?
