Dear all,
as Guildmaster I had a lot of time monitor one thing that should be changed urgently.
There are a lot of good players and a few newbies.
The good players are mostly the ones, that are in Spiral Knights since the beginning of this game. Almost all newbies that come into this game these days are spoiled very fast by the good players by seeing the difficult floors too fast. For example Vanaduke. None of them really need to achieve anything anymore. So it happens not seldom that the newbies have "completed" the game within 2 Weeks and don't even know how to deal with Snarbolax. In my opinion that is why so many new players lose the attraction to this game so fast and I can kick them from my guild after 2 Month offline time.
In comparison: When you play a game with cheats, you are not willing to do everything again without them. Or due to the cheats the game has become so boring, that you don't even want to play it again WITH cheats.
In my opinion it should not be possible to invite somebody into a mission or depth in the clockworks that he is not able to open by himself.
I believe that if you change this, the newbies remain longer in the game, the fun for them is increased (because they are not spoiled), you (Spiral Knights developers) surely earn more money from them and can bring more updates, new bosses and stuff.

Although your grammar isn't the greatest, I completely agree with you. Also, I think you meant "Or due to the cheats the game has become so boring, that you don't even want to play it again WITHOUT* cheats."

Make it so that higher-ranked players can't invite lower ranked players to any mission higher than their mission rank and any arcade tier higher than their clearance. So a Knight (mission rank) can't go to Roarmulus in the missions, but he can go to it through the arcade since it is still in T2. He wouldn't be able to go to vana through Arcade or KoA, since he's not cleared for either mission rank 9 or Tier 3.

Totally agree. Coz of newbs being invited to high rank lobbies, I solo everything. Like it be better if u couldnt replay missions at all. Then the veterans dont get spoiled and go how they used to. Goin on levels to get to the boss. So getting to JK was an adventure, I remember having to go through 2 arenas and a devilite lair to get to the royal jelly palace. That was more fun than doing JK itself. And now I hear all the new people saying that theyre bored of doing the same thing over and over to grind.

+! Because +1s are too

+!

Because +1s are too mainstream.

EDIT: Wait a second, why not make it so you can only earn crowns and materials from it if you have the appropriate star clearance? I occasionally ask my guild members to invite me to a T3 depth while I'm only T2 for a challenge, and for fun. Removing any profit would still stop newbies running FSC while allowing peeps like me who actually play the game to enjoy it.

I agree. I experienced this myself but in a different way. I spent $$$ on the game and skipped a lot of content because I was more excited to get the best and coolest looking gear rather than pacing myself, stretching out the gameplay experience and learning the game mechanics properly.

While Open/Unrestricted parties give you a peek at what FSC is going to be like, the main issue is that you're not supposed to know what FSC is going to be like. (Queue Old man-style flashback) When I was reppin' Tier 2 gear back in the day, the race to get Vog/DA/Omega was at the back of my mind but I was still able to enjoy exploring all that the game had to offer at each tier bracket because believe it or not Spiral Knights gets better the further back in time you go.

Any new player could essentially get a head start and ruin the game for themselves without even knowing it by joining a guild with players that already have Tier 3 clearance and hopping into an FSC run with them.

I agree with Dagunner too, gathering up a party and getting ready for the adventure at hand was one of the most exciting things about Spiral Knights. Traversing the dangers of the Clockworks prior to a boss fight got you extra crowns/mats, exposed you to a large portion of the non-boss content and when you finally got to the Boss stratum it was much more rewarding because the actual boss stratum and boss fight was only like 1/4 of the run as opposed to the entire run being the boss stratum. Almost every run felt like a new adventure because you were focusing on the process of getting to the boss stratum and enjoying being in the moment rather than hopping into a party and focusing on killing the boss and then having nothing else to do.

As long as the current model(missions and heavy boss grinding) is still there, Newbs will leave due the ammount of mundaneness, and repeating.

-1 is a bit stupid.

0.

Balence the payouts first.

They are leavin now because of the mundaneness and repeating, not being able to repeat removes the repeating (you don't say). Like Its just stupid that most newbs dont even know about the different levels, like arenas. Instead they know like 1, JK.

Sorry, but they need all the spoiling they can get. Their floors are very repetitive, and their payout is too low, even for bottom tier. And, with the energy crisis it is very hard for them to break through the 2*-3* barrier. The prices of ce are unmanageable for them, and they suffer. If you want us to stop nurturing the new players, solve the ce problem first.

"and their payout is too low,"

What are you smoking? 1,000 crowns per level for tier 2 players and 2,000 crowns for tier 3 players per level is too low?

"solve the ce problem first.

This thread will SOLVE the CE problems.

What they need to do is this at the same time. That way you can't bring new players further than they should be, and they also don't want to be pulled further because they actually have things to do.

Somewhat agreed

It is very hard being a new player and older players don't rush things because they know it will ruin their fun but young ones keep bugging people to take them to Vana, this can be stopped by forbidding the invites of lower ranking players yes, but cake farming, showing people scenario rooms and such will be impossible too, there is a solution that would solve this problem and another one with it as well, making it so that lower ranking players earn much less in missions above their tier, this would also help OOO lower the amount of people using alts while farming crowns.
Even though the solution you suggested was not bad, i think this would be more adequate for this situation. The ability to join anyone anywhere and get rewards such as heat, tokens and other little goodies is neat and fun but doesn't stimulate rushing ahead.

+ 1 vote on solving this issue but using this method

you forget that Cakes and event stuff not only show up on T3 and most of the T3 players look those event stuff on T1 because:

- they dont like to spent 500 cr because they didnt the previous tier
- T3 enemies means they have little health so if you want to do things quick they can go T1 and kill stuff with one single sword swing
- they dont have E-Passes to make the previous tier to get free Tier 3. so they hop on T1 for looking cakes, Pumpking Lair etc.

Also event stuff (without counting Kataclism) appears on Arcade which i dont think this should be apply on arcade, if this idea get implemented, even newbies that go Arcade to get Vanaduke wouldnt get a lot of CR to buy 200 CE because they will spent 90 Mist Energy to get 100 Ce. He only mean MISSIONS which i agree there isnt point to invite low ranked players on missions they already dont have in their mission list which make missions system pointless and give them a lot of spoilers so when they see everything they just leave the game

now your idea that if they get crowns according to their ranks, they still get the boss tokens. which make your idea useless because they will still get 30k cr from boss token (King of Ashes Mission). and even more useless because he not only mean payout also mean content that new players will look before they reach the rank they should have to get that part of the game which once they got it and see everything in the game. they lose interest in the game and leave...

So + 1 to this idea as OP SAYS.

Not allowing them to see

Not allowing them to see missions is not a bad idea, they can still use youtube but it is not the same,BUT, paying 500cr is only needed when you don't clear a gate, if money drop is not nurfed they can farm T3 arenas with their friends from time to time and it won't ruin their experience, forbidding them from joining people would be annoying when people can't invite anyone to join them no matter where they find candy and scenario rooms.

This matter DOES need solving, but not with limitation and not complete blocking of all higher tier content!

Blocking off the higher tier content is completely fine, as long as the progression curve is adjusted so you never feel like you're stuck and want to skip to the end. Cake farming, danger/scenario rooms, etc will be unaffected since those things happen with the same frequency in T1 as in T3.

my 2 cents

I hope a GM see this

The problem with SK is how little the game take you and show you the game mechanics.

No newbie can: Buy and sell ce via the market, buy something from AH, know when their mist will come back, how much are the cost of the market and more importantly

That cobalt armor is not a good choice as a starter line. Wolver is...

I still don't get that the missions gives you everything to craft the cobalt line and not the wolver... I mean...

When newbie ask me for tips all I say is: Wolver line, Owlite shield, brandish or calibur

Those are the items you should give to newbie IMO...

Oh the Strike Needle recipe is nice but that's about it...

@Shamanala

So basically, you'd tell newbies to become a clone which many others have already done instead of experimenting with different weapons, thus finding the right one for themselves. OOO probably started with a bland armour set to encourage you to branch out and experiment, because experimenting costs CE and (some)CE costs money.

Well magic set is also a good

Well magic set is also a good starter line, Coblalt isnt. The missions should actually do something helpful, it already messes the game up enough.
