Return to Cradle (roleplay, rebooted!) [apps accepted]
It was hard for me to accept it, but, Haven is dead.
My body ached in pain as I came to consciousness. I slowly looked around me to find some sort of camp where injured knights were taken to treatment, much like my case. I touched my cheek gingerly to feel some sort cold and moist medical paste, did somebody saved me? whoever it was I am grateful with all my life, I need to thank him for doing so. "-protect the Core as well, for it is what they want! We will begin our journey tomorrow! For now, we must rest," a voice shot out that caught my attention, who does that person think he is? I mean, why must he be so loud at all of us knowing that most of us wouldn't even heal over night? I want to meet whoever this person might be so I can tell him to keep his jaw up.
I turned around to find my Dusker helmet, which suddenly reminded me that I am not wearing anything to cover my head. With haste I snatched my helmet and equipped it back on, having it off me somehow made me felt.... naked. Did somebody found out about me? No, I will never allow them to, I want to keep it this way so people could still see me as something respectable. I gave myself a mental note to never repeat my same mistake anymore, but not long after that I drifted away to sleep.
(Anubis' viewpoint) I sneaked out into haven, being surprised at what I saw. The place wasn't a peaceful paradise like I saw from surveillance photos, the fountain was a smoking hole, the buildings were wrecks, and the snipes had flown away. Trying to avoid detection, I swiftly climbed a still-standing rooftop and watched the carnage from afar.
The silver-girl let out a laugh, before beginning with the formalities. "My name is Gwenyvier, but please, call me Gwen. These are my friends, Commissar Khazaim, Captain Kyrto, and the captain's loyal servants." The man named 'Khazaim' bowed, while the man named 'Kyrto' merely grunted. Gwen curtsied while saying,"It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, mister Jason. Would you like to accompany us on our mission to the Core Terminal?" "Sure. Just don't expect me to do much,"I calmly replied. I led them to the Dark Lion gate where we paid our respective energy before venturing into the Clockworks. "Next stop, Wolver Den,"I muttered.
EQUINOX
I wake to see the now self-aware Knight wake up. I jump down just as they are putting on their helmet, hiding their face from me. "Hello," I smile, "so, did you heal up okay? We have a terrible trek-Oh, blast! Where is she?" I look around for the silver-haired girl. "Wonderful. A traitor." I look back to the Knight. "I hope you can walk. If you can't, I can fashion a cane or staff to aid you." I flash the sharp Strikers into my hands and nod over to the tree. "It wouldn't be demeaning. After all, most of us are injured." I try not to look down at my unharmed self.
I look to my Snipes on either shoulder. "Lumino, Umbra, find her." They both instantly fly in the direction of the arcade. "Is everyone ready?" I call out to our ragtag team, the silent cloaked girl, the man with the long hair, and, well, the Knight by me. "Err, could I get everyones' names? How rude of me." I smile, embarrassed, as I rub the back of my neck.
O younger man of darker force,
Riding on that yonder horse:
Come to save the damsel fair
From the Legion's darkest lair!
But wait, there lies a trap of doom
Waiting in the yonder gloom!
A fiendish plot, a devilish puzzle,
A gremlin's scheme, a turrets muzzle.
Grates and spikes to slow your rush,
Massive gears to swiftly crush
Pistons hidden, quick to press
Will test your own courageousness.
There's the Core, now save the girl
Quick, before their plots unfurl!
Take her out and grab your pack
Hit the lift and don't look back.
____
"Sure, just don't expect too much," said Jason. He directed the army to the Dark Lion Gate, and muttered, "Next stop: Wolver Den." That immediately put Kyrto on edge.
The elevator came to a stop, and they all stepped off. Wow, how'd we bring half the army on this tiny elevator? Gwen thought with amusement. No sooner had the last man gotten off the lift then a hole suddenly appeared in the ground, sucked in one of the soldiers, and disappeared with him inside. A couple soldiers were already crying from fright over the incident.
Another hole appeared and tried to suck in Gwen, but she rolled out of the way. When it closed up again, she heard a snarl behind her.
Two Snipes materialize next to the girl on the elevator. They look around quickly, and see the situation. They, just as quickly as they came, dematerialize.
A form flickers on the elevator. That of a black and red Snarbolax. But he is gone as well, and the elevator starts plummeting down, cable having snapped.
NOTE TO READERS: THE POST BENEATH ME NEVER HAPPENED.
I I I
V V V NEVAH HAPPENED!!!
The elevator came to a rough halt, and we took a few steps off before gazing at our surroundings in awe. A scream woke me from my lucid thoughts as I turned to look at a frightened soldier standing next to where a soldier used to stand. A hole appeared beneath Gwen, but she forward-rolled out of the way. When it closed up, a Snarbolax appeared behind her. "Gwen!"I shouted, running towards the Snarbolax, Calibur in hand. It burrowed underneath the green ground just as it was within sword range, and appeared behind me in a second or so. I turned to slice its head with my Calibur, but it knocked it away with a simple flick of the head, leaving me surprised for a moment or so, before resorting to hand-to-hand combat. I jumped into the air and managed to land a 540 roundhouse kick on it, pushing it not far back, before I landed a spinning hook kick on it. Its eyes were a vibrant red, that seemed to have an endless bloodlust. It turned around to face Gwen.
Sometimes, the silent is necessary
"Hello," a voice spoke up to me as I tried to sleep, the voice... it belonged to a stranger, and it so happens to be that 'person' who I referred to earlier. I looked at his face, he seems to be younger than me both in age and maturity. The smile on his face irritated me, I replied to him with silence. "So, did you heal up okay? We have a terrible trek-Oh, blast! Where is she?" the stranger paused and looked around for a particular someone, "Wonderful. A traitor." he continued and looked back at me.
"I hope you can walk. If you can't, I can fashion a cane or staff to aid you," he flashed his Striker in front of me and gestured over the tree, who does he think he is? I thought to myself as I tried to refrain myself from punching him in the face. "It wouldn't be demeaning. After all, most of us are injured," he continued while trying to not look down at his unharmed self. "You can do it Chriss, you can hold the urge to punch him in the face," I thought to myself as my hand formed into a fist.
"Lumino, Umbra, find her," the stranger spoke to two snipes on both of his shoulders, I didn't noticed them at all until they both flew over to the direction of the arcade- or whatever was left there. "Is everyone ready?" he called out to all of us, I turned around to see two other knights. The hooded girl I saw earlier, perhaps I should dub her as the Bread thief. While the one with the long hair... If he won't be bothering me, then there would be no necessary reason I should be doing so to him.
"Err, could I get everyones' names? How rude of me," the stranger continued with that irritating smile while rubbing the back of his neck. "C....Chrisstopher," I whispered silently that only he was able to hear, my voice was trembling in embarrassment and the stranger could probably see right through me like a glass wall. But as what he said before, maybe after I heal up a bit more... perhaps we could find the root of this whole problem.

the lost knight, and the lost knight made sure he could not get up again. Arkus smashed his blade down

Axis
A sudden snap echoed throughout the shaft. The elevator started to gain speed. I looked at the silver haired girl with malice. "If we live through this you're a dead man walking!" I shouted. She just gave me a look of pity. I pulled out my venom destroyer poised to shoot. But I was interrupted, all I heard was a giant crash then a thud, and I was out.
(Anubis)
I looked into the arcade, picking up some energy crystals and a wolver helm off a dead knight. T heard some voices which I couldn't make out, and saw an army walk down into the clockworks. These didn't seem like normal knights who would leave Emberlight alone, so I followed them into the Clockworks, sneaking up behind them
The Spiral Order doesn't have to abandon him in order for him to be a mercenary. Why can't he just...leave it? I mean, if Arkus is any indication, the Order doesn't abandon anyone, no matter how perilous the road. Players have to fend off the meanest of fiends, fire and shock, in Tier 3 no less, to get to Arkus, and you want me to believe that the Order abandoned his rescuers?? That's a real stretch.
Now, with Serris in charge, abandonment might be more plausible...
Otherwise, your character is fine. You may begin!
As Jason tried to fend off the beasts, Gwen rushed over to Axis, who had fallen unconscious from the drop. She touched his forehead and kissed it. He recovered almost immediately (not knowing how he was healed).
After a few moments of frantic battle, the Morai had dispatched the monsters, but not without casualties. Kyrto and Khazaim sheathed their bloody swords and approached Gwen. Axis was now rubbing his head.
"Is the entire planet like this?" asked Kyrto.
Gwen nodded. "It only gets worse from here. Do you want to continue?"
"I must continue," he replied, "or I will be executed for passing up a strategic opportunity."
Gwen shrugged. Better your life than a hundred...
"What was that?"
"Nothing." Gwen hadn't realized that she'd spoken aloud.
She suddenly became aware of a stealthy presence following them. She couldn't fall back to meet him, as she was being carefully watched, but she kept a clairevoyant eye on him nonetheless.
(Anubis)
After seeing how poorly the newcomers handled wolvers (despite the snarbolax being one of them) I wasn't so worried, as they'd likely run away before they got far. I heard a conversation:
"Is the entire planet like this?" asked the apparent leader of the group.
the mysterious silver-haired girl nodded. "It only gets worse from here. Do you want to continue?"
"I must continue," he replied, "or I will be executed for passing up a strategic opportunity."
Silver-Hair shrugged. Better your life than a hundred...
"What was that?"
"Nothing."
So much for running away, though they still likely wouldn't make it to Emberlight.
I blinked my eyes open slowly. I was lying on the ground, and I clutched my head as I got up, groaning a little. I remember that big armor man made an explosion with his sword, and I was knocked out on his shield. It was daybreak now, and I sat against a tree, taking off the cloth over my right eye. I could see a little better out of it. Sniffing the air, I smelled the scent of the blood I had found earlier. I look at its source and found a man with unusually long hair. He seemed injured too, but I could sense annoyance radiating from him. And... embarrassment? Weird. The Stranger from earlier called out to us. I, of course, couldn't understand him. I forgot what English I had learned for the most part. I heard him say a couple words after that, one of which was 'name'. I remember that usually people say that when they want your name... I took a stick and wrote down my name crudely.
"Ensar"
I put my hood down and looked over Haven. It was... dead. It looked dead. I could smell rotting corpses in the air.
EQUINOX
I look to the hooded girl. ENSAR is written on the ground by her feet. My Snipes fly down onto my shoulders just as I crouch down, and touch her shoulder. "Lumino, you know the language of Beasts. Could you be our translator?" My white Snipe nods, and perches on the girl's shoulder. It's eyes glow blue, and my language can now be translated into the girl's mind, opening her up to new communication. Ensar? Is that your name? As I wait for a response, I look to the Knight I saved and the long-haired man. "And what are your names? Just so we may address each other. My name is Equinox." I look to Umbra and nod, and I am suddenly shown all they'd seen in the elevator. The silver-haired girl, paired up with the Morai? She had to have been wary, because I notice through the Snipe's eyes her aura is shaky, yet firm in it's core. And then-A Snarbolax?! I see it's dark form flicker behind her, and dark holes appear, starting to swallow soldiers down. And then...the form is gone, and the cable snaps.
(Sorry, I was busy, so I was unable to do anything for 2 days straight! SORREH!)
Teyailain snapped back to reality, his eyes brightening once more, as he absorbed his surroundings, once more, Now seeing something being written on the ground. En. . Ensa. . Ensar. Could that be her name? The stranger looks in the direction of me and the other knight. "And what are your names? Just so we may address each other. My name is Equinox." "My name is Teyailain. (Pretty hard to remember, so just add it to the dictionary.)
I would usually ask for someone to make me laugh for my services, but seeing Haven as it is. . . It won't be necessary."
I don't care if I have to die, just don't let me fade alone...
Ensar, those were the letters the Bread Thief scribbled in the ground. Was it her name? Surely she would have told us her name, but for now I will still call her by my own self-proclaimed nickname I gave to her. The stranger inspected the letters formed under the feet of the Bread Thief, for a second there I saw something going on with him and the girl, it is as if the stranger was able to communicate in silent. He the turned back to me and the long haired man, "And what are your names? Just so we may address each other. My name is Equinox," he asked the two of us.
"What?" I growled quietly, I can't believe he... I can't believe Equinox ignored me earlier. My blood started to boil with anger and my hand formed into a fist once more, it took me a while to restrain myself from punching him in the face. "Chrisstopher," I answered him, "My name is Chrisstopher and you better remember that name damn well!" I continued while hinting traces of my ventilated anger. "My name is Teyailain," the other knight spoke up, I turned to him as he caught my attention. "I would usually ask for someone to make me laugh for my services, but seeing Haven as it is. . . It won't be necessary," he continued. I could notice the Bread Thief observing whatever was left of Haven, the sight was horrifying. The streets were filled with decayed corpses, homes and shops crumbled into dust. I couldn't easily explain it at all, but if one word was all that I need to explain, then Apocalyptic would suffice.
"Everything was all fine yesterday," I decided to speak as my anger subsided, "Recruits were all happy chasing each other, the snipes were riding the wind in joy, the Strangers were doing business as usual. It was all fine, everything was all fine," I continued, my voice became raspy as I held back my tears. "It was all fine, everything was all fine yesterday. Today I was supposed to do some mission from the HQ and then visit the Garrison to finish my report, everything would've gone perfect today," I paused and cried silently, "It... Would have gone all right if Haven wasn't attacked... It... Would've gone alright if none of this had ever happened..."
I couldn't keep the tears silent anymore, and I broke into a cry.
Just a moment after writing down my name in the dry dirt, two snipes land on the Stranger's shoulders. One white and one black. He whispers to the white one, who flies to my shoulder. His eyes glow blue briefly. It creeped me out a little, and I growled softly. A voice suddenly spoke in my head.
"Ensar? Is that your name?" It's the Stranger saying it. I nod slowly, growing wary of him. He's... odd. I don't know how. But he just is.
I could smell another beast. More weird things happening. There aren't supposed to be Wolvers up here. And the scents on the coats have long faded. The other Knights are talking with each other about something. Who knows. I'm shaken from my thoughts by a strange cry of anguish from one of the Knights. He has his face buried in his hands as he shakes. Serves him right. He's wearing the hide of the ones who raised me on his head and body. He should feel the sadness I did once. I snarl quietly and start walking away and down the hill. I'm more interested in that scent.
"Where are you going?", the Stranger said.
I turn back to him and growl out, "I found a weird scent of another Beast. I'm going to look for it."
I continue walking. I look around. I don't see anyone living. That explosion must have killed most of them. I could say I'm lucky to be alive. Walking into the Arcade, I can tell that the scent is much stronger. I can identify it now. I continue walking along it, but I get to an empty elevator shaft. I step back a little looking around for another scent trail. It seems to lead down, so I walk on an elevator and punch the button, using an ID card I stole from a Knight's wallet. Punching the button to Emberlight, it shudders and starts moving downward. I can smell the scent even more now...
EQUINOX
"Sorry for the confusion, Chriss, but we have to follow her. Now." I run after the girl, hoping the other two will follow me. I run into the arcade just in time to see her disappear down an elevator. I run to the next one, the others behind me, and open my palms, letting out the energy so many Strangers have endless supplies of. A screen of energy pops up before me, showing all active elevators. I select Ensar's, and find it going down to Emberlight. I press the button of the elevator, and we are sent down into the Clockworks....
I run out of the elevator. She knows something. Whatever it is, she knows it's powerful.
A wonderful ally.
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right?
It took me a while to control myself, the tears stopped as soon as I heard Equinox speaking to me and Teyailain. "Sorry for the confusion, Chriss, but we have to follow her. Now," he spoke and rushed away towards Haven, following the Bread Thief somewhere. I blushed in embarrassment, did I allowed my emotions to take the better of me? "Y-yes," I grunted and brandished my sword. I took a good look on it's shiny surface and could see the same person I vowed not to be anymore, I need to be stronger, I need to be respected, I don't want to be left alone anymore. "Coming!" I shouted at Equinox, hoping he would hear me from afar. I turned to Teyailain and gestured my blade towards the direction of Haven, "Arcade," I whispered to him quickly and made my way towards the remains of what we once called haven.
It was far more horrible than what I had thought it would be, many rotting corpses had sprawled across the arcade. I silently walked towards the elevator, this was my only way of showing respect to those who has became the victim of fate. Suddenly the thought came to me, "Why was I the only survivor?"or to be much more precise, "Why did I survive?". I shook my head and continued to advance towards Equinox's location, this is no time to think about such things.
"Hey...." I waved my hand at Equinox embarassedly, "About before... Don't mention it to anyone else okay?" I spoke quietly as my face turned red. Crying in front of people could usually lead them to think that I am weak, but no, I am not weak and I want to make them think of it that way. I walked on the elevator together with Equinox and Teyailain who had joined us, the Stranger pressed the button towards Emberlight and we descended deeper into the root of this hell.
"What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right?"
"Move it along, you."
A soldier bumped Gwen from behind, and she tripped and fell. As her face hit the floor, she could hear riotous laughter erupt around her. She lifted up her bruised head to find a friendly hand extended to her. She took it, got up, and brushed herself off. "Thank you, kind sir" she said to Khazaim, who nodded and continued his march. The other soldiers were eying her, and it made her uncomfortable.
Suddenly, a massive piston came down and crushed one of the soldiers in the middle of the line. Then it came down again. And again. It seemed that they had activated some deathtrap mechanism. One clever soldier jumped through when the piston went up...and landed into a gaping hole that had just opened up for him. None of the other soldiers behind the piston wanted to go through, and the others in front were reluctant to step back and help their comrades. One of them bumped Gwen again. "Why doesn't she go through first? If she knows this place so well, she should show us how to do it." The men thought it was a great idea, and pushed her in the direction of the piston. She looked it over, gauged the timing, accounted for the hole, and leapt over.
She almost made it. She jumped, missed the floor on the other side of the hole, and grabbed the edge to prevent her fall. The others were stronger, and were able to leap all the way across safely, with the exception of a couple casualties. They left her hanging there on the ledge, struggling to get herself up. She was beginning to lose her grip.
Kyrto stepped over to her and looked at her with his pipe in his mouth. "Help me!" Gwen cried out. But Kyrto just looked at her. Khazaim rushed over, pushed Kyrto aside, and pulled her up by the wrists. She stood there panting for a moment before thanking Khazaim, and looked at Kyrto in disbelief.
There was another cry, and they all looked to see what it was. A soldier had stepped in some slimy goo, and couldn't get himself out. To his horror, the goo materialized in the shape of a cube and began to absorb him. His cries were muffed when he was finally absorbed inside the cube, and his body began to be rapidly digested.
Soldiers opened fire in panic at the cube and destroyed it, taking their comrade with them. More slimes oozed along the walls and tackled several other soldiers. Gwen materialized her battle armor, drew her flourish, and sliced at the nearest jelly cube. It didn't do much damage. She grabbed a broadsword from a dead soldier and smacked the jelly with it, which flung it back into the wall and splattered it.
Another soldier screamed, and she saw him impaled and dead upon a bed of spikes. Two more were impaled before they wised up to the threat.
This was going to be a very long trip to the Core for everyone.
Axis looked at Kyrto with disgust. "If we lose her, we lose our only way to the core." Axis said grudgingly to the captain. Whenever Kyrto messed up, it was always him or Khazaim picking up the mess. It had been easy to clear the traps, timing and accuracy was all that was needed. Three piles of goo materialized. Three shots, and they were now a poisonous green, and disintegrating. Axis holstered the destroyer. "What aren't you telling us?" he asked the girl. She stayed silent for the most part. He sighed, going after the core had been a bad decision, if anything else took a turn for the worst, he was taking the next elevator back up.
Nivian was still at camp, helping out carrying heaps of vita-kits and bandages. He was treating someones arm when a loud moan came from behind him. "No! no no no no no..." Nivian's voice cracked as he started to cry. There lay his only friend Pylo on what seemed to be his death bed. Nivian hurried to the side of his friends body but he found his friend pushing him away. "No," He whispered. "No..." And his voice trailed away... Nivian wasn't sad, he was angry...
Anubis let out a surprised gasp as he saw the mysterious firearm's power. He had a sudden urge to steal and disassemble it
EQUINOX
I nod to Chriss. "I'll be right back. I'll ask a Gremlin if they've seen her." I turn and walk off, throwing my hat off to the side and putting on my hood. I pull out a Stranger Energy Mask, and lift it to my face, putting it on. The beautiful neon lights of the town's ceiling and square buildings cast many colors everywhere. I keep my face to the floor, and walk to the nearest Gremlin. "Excuse me, sir, but have you seen a red haired girl around here? In a cloak with a bad eye?" He grumbles, "Get out of here, Stranger. We donlt support your kind anymore." I turn up the mask over my head, and smile.
"If you don't tell me, I'll make things all the worst for you..." I lift up my hand, spread my fingers, and the Gremlin is instantly pushed and pulled to the wall. I look at his face as he stares at me in fear. "Yes, I'm a witch. But I still need you to tell me, or...." I snap my fingers, and a dark purple snake coils from the darkness, it's eyes glowing violet. "Okay okay! I'll talk! She's that way!" He nods in the direction I just came. I look back at him suspiciously, and he squeals. "She is! I can smell her from here!" I let go of him, the snake disappearing, and walk back and put my mask back over my face. She is there, like the Gremlin said, but she's standing in front of the next elevator. "Wait!" I run up to her. "Who is it you're hunting?"
Just then, a form flickers on the elevator. Like a humanoid Snarbolax...
Suddenly he's gone, and the elevator screen changes. It goes automatically up to a Wolver Den, but the Den isn't even supposed to be this gates level...I wave to Chriss and Teyailain. "Guys! Come look at this!"
Teyailain looked around at just about the right time to see the elevator light flicker. Seatus called out, while waving his hand, "Guys! Come look at this!"
I calmly replied "I saw the picture change. Does this mean someone wants us to meet them there? Because I'd bet someone could re-route the direction of the elevator, and have us meet them. Should we take the risk, and use the elevator anyway?"
I found myself at Emberlight soon enough. The scent was even stronger, and it was powerful. Not overpowering, but dominant. And a little evil too. I pressed on, running through the streets between crude buildings constructed out of rusting corrugated metal. I eventually got to the north plaza, where there was an elevator. And something else. A flickering form of a... Snarbolax? The King of Beasts... here? I looked around and slowly walked up to him. It was humanoid, his entire body covered in black fur streaked a glowing red. He seemed like a projection, but the scent was overwhelming here. He slowly raised his hand, and the world darkened, and reappeared.
I looked around. An ocean stretched out to the horizon. I was standing on a small island, with grasses and trees... and a huge, white monument in the center. I looked at the Snarbolax.
"Where did you take me?", I growled at him.
"The Sanctuary", he responded, looking at me with burning orange eyes. I stepped back a little, looking around. This was the Sanctuary? I turned around, and found the telltale braces that held up elevators extending into the sky as far as I could see. I turned back around and looked at the Snarbolax with the same intensity.
"Why did you take me here?"
Instead of answering my question, he rushed towards me, and before I could react, jammed a thorn from his palm into my burned eye, causing me to howl in pain. It was incredibly painful, and I felt something spread from it, like a parasite or a disease, pulsating under my skin.
"To wield power, as one between the Beast and the Knight."
His form flickered into the real Snarbolax, and disappeared. I was left on the island, the only sound being my cries and the waves lapping on the shore.
The Snarbolax mysteriously vanished, as if it wasn't there in the first place. I rotated my body to look at what was in front of me. My eyes met some kind of.... deathtrap that looked easy to pass. However, a hole was there directly after the piston, and so many were reluctant to go. The others took some time to get across. After they focused their attention onto what was in front of them, I teleported past the deathtrap mechanism and the hole, knowing that no one of the Morai or Gwen had seen me do it. Just then, slimes materialized out of the walls and started attacking the Morai. I laughed silently, and looked at Gwen. She was having trouble fending off a single slime cube, which I thought was quite humorous. She killed it in the end, though. And then more dumb Morai soldiers got themselves killed, through many accidents.
Looking around the dark backdrop of the Clockworks, it was seemingly dimly lit, as the only things that lit up the place were the Core and randomly placed lightbulbs set up on long, metallic poles. The ground was metallic, even though it looked as if it was grass. I looked back in front of me, and realized that they seemingly left. I trudged a few steps, before I encountered a lumber which materialized out of the dark wood on the grey, metallic floor. It threw a downwards strike at me, but I backward rolled out of the way. I summoned my book, and it instantaneously appeared on my hand. I muttered a few words as I took a few steps back, and 10 spheres of darkness were shot out of the book, startling the lumber. The spheres of darkness moved at light speed to a place high above the lumber, where they combined and shot down like a lightning bolt unto the lumber, ultimately resulting in its disappearance from existence. I unsummoned my book, and walked towards the Morai, knowing that someone was watching me.
A game of catch!
Emberlight, a small village of Gremlin Outcast who were exiled from the Great Colony, it was my first time going here and I must say that I am impressed that they managed to stay alive despite the odds. "I'll be right back. I'll ask a Gremlin if they've seen her," Equinox nodded his head at me and wandered away, who is this 'girl' he mentioned? I turned around to see few gremlin kids eyeing me cautiously. "W-what do you want?" I grunted at them, one of them came up to me and looked me in the eye. "Crowns," the gremlin boy shot out at me and showed me the palm of his furry hand, "Crowns," he continued. "G-go away!" I shouted at the boy and pushed him away from me gently, he cursed at me in gremlinese and ran away.
"Got it!" a voice screamed behind me and I turned around to find my wallet on the hand of a gremlin girl, "G-give that back!" I screamed while chasing the little girl. She giggled and passed my wallet on another kid right next to her, "Give that back! I need those!" I roared at them as I watched my wallet being tossed around by even more kids. I pulled out my Magnus and pulled the trigger on air, the gremlins quickly stopped their activity and stared at my position. "Alright, now hand me back my wallet!" I shouted at the kids who were trembling in fear, "W-we no have ze wallet!" one of the gremlin mumbled in fear. For a second there I thought they were lying, but then I turned my head around to see the same boy I shooed off earlier holding my wallet. "Give it back!" I screamed at him and chased him, he started to cry but it did not stop him. "Got you know punk!" I grinned at the boy as I had cornered him into an alley, "Give back my wallet before I tell your parents about this!" I continued while slowly approaching him.
"I don't haz mama and papa!" the little boy cried in fear as he gripped my wallet tighter, "I only haz little brother and little sizter! Zey need food!" he continued. It hit me like a tidal wave, the poor boy isn't lying to me at al, I could see two small figures hiding behind the crate right next to the boy. "Pleaze, don't hurt me!" the boy howled in fear, I couldn't do anything else, I couldn't come to the conclusion of hurting such innocent soul! "Take it," I whispered quietly and turned my back, "I dont need it anyways," I continued. "Guys! Come look at this!" Equinox shouted out, and there goes my cue!
I rushed towards the elevator to find myself in surprise. "-Should we take the risk, and use the elevator anyway?" Teyailain spoke as he observed the elevator, the image had changed to Wolver Den, which isn't supposed to be in this gate at all. "I think it's worth a try. Chriss?" Equinox turned to me, waiting for my answer. "If it's a trap, then we know it is and we might be able to avert it with our new known knowledge," I answered him and stepped on the elevator.
"Hehehe, Izoranz is zo stupid!" the gremlin boy laughed as he posed a victory stance, "We got money! Now we can eat good food!" another gremlin girl giggled as she danced with her brother. "What should we eat firzt?" the boy asked as he began opening the zip of the wallet, "We could eat Chromalizk fillet, or perhapz Wolver zteak with blaze pepper zauce!" the girl replied in joy. But as soon as they inspected the wallet, they exchanged looks and groaned.
The wallet was empty.

I step onto the elevator, checking the Gate Map provided by my energy. A direct re-route went straight up and over to the Out of Order elevator next door. How did they get into the level then....? And then it hits me.
Something broke the elevator to make sure this would happen.
Faction: Angelic
Name: Archemiday
Gender: Male
Appearance: Unbuttoned white lab coat, black pants, and a green shirt. Blue eyes, tan skin, and blue hair.
Arsenal: A pair of steel knuckles that cover the hands in fur for comfort, lute, and his traditional endless bookbag.
Bio: An angel of paluntena assigned to help the isorans on the cradle. He has a problem where he must drink a small amount of blood every day or two. He can only fly about five minutes per day with Paluntenas help or his wings will burn up, resulting with his death shortly after.
I have no idea what a paletuna is, but the character is accepted!
I get up from the ground and pull the thorn out of my eye, causing me to gasp a little in pain. I could still feel something pulsing under my skin, as if something alive had infected the wound. My eye throbbed, but I can still walk.
I don't like this place. I have to get out somehow. I walk up to the huge monolith, staring at it. There was a small waterfall that gently flowed into a pool beneath, which I walked up to. At first glance, it just seemed like a normal pool, but I could tell that's not what it was. I poked at the surface, and images formed.
That Stranger and those other Knights were still in Emberlight, and were standing on the elevator. Maybe I could use the pool to go to where they are! I tried dropping in, when suddenly, I was in the air above Emberlight, falling. I hit the ground hard, knocking the wind out of me. No broken bones though, thankfully. I got up and looked around. There was a Gremlin boy fearfully staring at me. Then it hit me. My eye... what did it look like?
"Excuse me, do you know where I can find a mirror?", I said to him in Beast.
He quickly shook his head. I walked away, not interested in scaring anyone anymore. I should work on finding that Stranger. I got weird looks from the townsfolk as I walked, so I put down my hood to try to cover my eye. I kept looking, following the Stranger's scent.
@thin. You haven't played enough kid Icarus uprising then :D. Search "Kid Icarus: uprising". She is from a game.
Yuna
I rubbed my head and popped a cherry into my mouth, smashing the poor fruit repeatedly between my molars anxiously. I rubbed my head and shuddered as a Gremlin next to me switched on a makeshift TV and watched as a reporter covered the destruction in Haven. I looked over his shoulders and watched as well, my eyes widening at the dead bodies and mutilated survivors. I shook my head and spotted a group of Isorans standing by the elevator. I sighed; finally, company other than Gremlins. I stood up and shuffled over to them, then frowned as I saw two young Gremlins, a boy and a girl, holding a wallet triumphantly. Ka'Zan and his sister again... The resident thieves at Emberlight. I shook my head and walked past them, then took a look at the gate the Isorans were busy staring at. My eyebrow went up in curiousity; why was a Wolver Den in THIS gate? I brushed a lock of purple hair out of my face and coughed, "So, sucky weather we're having, eh? Cloudy with a chance of falling spaceships, death, and destruction." The Isorans looked at me funny and said, "Who're you?" I waved shyly and replied, "Name's Yuna." Sneaking another look at the Gate, I showed them my Flameberge, " You know, I could be of some use in that Wolver Lair. Besides, I've got nothing to do. So can I come?" One Isoran simply shrugged and relented, "Sure, why not?"
I smiled.
______
How many Isorans are in Emberlight? And what is going on? Im confuzzled! D:
"You know your mission". Paluntena said. I jumped out and fly towards Haven. It looked like this time I was going to safely land! "Uhh... Archy, it looks like the power of flight hasn't fully regenerated.". With that, I braced for a crash landing. I managed to accidently tumble past an elevator in the clock works and crash landed in emberlight , next to a few people. ((yuna being one of them)). "ow... Can't I ever land correctly once?". Were the last words I muttered before fainting.
(( want to have arch and yuna in a relationship that isn't by a forum ending kaiju :3?))
((There you go. There always seems to be holes near the elevator, so lets just call it close enough.))
Nivian turned just to see something fall out the sky. "What the heck?" He muttered under his breath. He ran over to the gathering crowd of knights and crouched down to see a angel? "Whoa..." he stuttered, edging back from the body when he saw large wings emitting from its back. He didn't know what happened but he knew this was going to be intresting...

I quietly slipped through the streets, tracking the Stranger with the birds down. I silently brushed my bangs over to the side, covering my eye up. I could feel the creature in it pulsating even more now. I eventually got over to the North Plaza, where I saw the Knights, the Stranger, and another Knight with purple hair. I walked over to the Stranger silently and asked him about her. I bet he didn't even notice I was gone, but he probably did. Whatever, why do I even care?
"Who is the girl?", I asked him, tapping him on the shoulder lightly. The creature was moving a little now, causing me to flinch, but not enough to notice.
The more the merrier, right?
Just as we were about to activate the elevator, a voice spoke out which caught my attention. "So, sucky weather we're having, eh? Cloudy with a chance of falling spaceships, death, and destruction," the stranger spoke to us, the voice belongs to a young woman who dons an angelic raiment. "Who're you?" I asked the woman cautiously, knowing the situation of this planet, you couldn't trust anyone anymore.
"Name's Yuna," the woman answered as she waved her hand shyly at us. "Yuna... It does sound familiar..." I thought to myself as my memories launched it's full scale investigation in my list of names archive, and that was when it hit me. "L-lieutenant Y-Yuna!" I gasped in awe and quickly saluted at her, "K-knight Elite C-Chrisstopher reporting in!" my voice trembles as I tried to keep my cool. I always looked up to her, she is one one of the most skillful ranking Isoran that was sent to Cradle in effort to protect it from invaders. I was in her squad, and I always looked up to her, knowing the fact that even a girl could be respected.
"You know, I could be of some use in that Wolver Lair. Besides, I've got nothing to do. So can I come?" Lieutenant Yuna spoke to us as she eyed the elevator while showing her her flameberge, I tried my best not to scream in joy at her request so I did the 'cool soldier' act instead, which may earn some respect from her somehow. "S-sure, why not ?" I shrugged and continued my effort to hide my admiration. Lt. Yuna smiled at my reply and I couldn't help but to blush, I hope that she couldn't see my face at all. This might be the best day in my life, going into the Clockworks side-by-side with her, I'm so happy.
After realizing no one had heard me, I continued to watch the group. After a minute or so, I heard a chittering sound behind me, I looked back and saw some unpaired eyes peering out from a very dimly lit overhang. I realized what they were as they swooped down on me: Greavers, these cyclopean butterfly-bat things had quickly become my worst nightmare when I started living in the clockworks, and now a swarm of them were headed right for me. I quickly grabbed my Frosthrower nozzle, charged it up, and blasted a large portion of them, causing those at close distance to die and the rest to freeze. One flanked me and I swiped it aside with my wrench wand, three tried to attack at once and I shield bumped them away. Then, as I lowered my shield, a Greaver hit my arm, leaving an X shaped wound that was already starting to fester with darkness "Grrraggh!" I howled, falling to the ground from sheer pain. I was about to die.

I run over to the fallen angel. "Oh my Vog....maybe they aren't all extinct..." I look over to Yuna. "Got a Vitakit? He took a hard fall." She nods, and throws it over. I snatch it and rub some of the paste on bad scrapes the angel took while falling. I turn my head to Yuna as I administer the medicine, "To be frank, I'm not sure how someone rewired this elevator's travel path at all. They'd need at least some help." I pick up the angel, throwing him over my shoulder. "Let's go." I say, and we pile on to the elevator.
((@Dewca: Nivian is still on the surface, the land doesn't connect like that))
A force field suddenly materialized around Anubis, and several greavers squealed upon impacting on it. A strange white rapier impaled one against the wall, then was withdrawn and sliced through the remaining three greavers in one swift motion. Only when its wielder stopped was Anubis able to identify it.
His savior looked like an angel. She was a beautiful silver-haired girl clad in white raiment, with a complex-looking rapier in her left hand. She was unlike any other Isoran he had ever seen. She knelt beside him, hovered her hands over his wounds, and healed them as if by magic. Then, she helped him up and spoke to him in a kindly voice, "Fear not, gremlin. None shall hurt you while you are under my care. Pray tell me, what is your name? I am Gwenyvier." She then spoke further in his head, "You know who I am, but not by name or face, for you take orders from me."
Just as Equinox began to turn around to answer my question, a figure fell from the sky, making impact not too far away from where we were. The Stranger and the purple-haired girl, as well as the other Knights, ran over to examine the figure. It looked like it had wings, which was very... angelic. I sighed. More people. As the others were busy helping the Angel, I felt my eye pulse a little more, and veins seemed to slowly extend down across my shoulder and into my upper arm. Some kind of black fluid was flowing inside. The Stranger hoisted the Angel over his shoulder, and made his way over to the elevator. We all followed, the destination being a Wolver den.
We arrived at the den, and I turned to the Stranger and spoke.
"I'm going first. Make sure they stay here." I start walking away from the elevator and into the thick foliage, brushing plants aside. I could feel my arm and eye pulsing even more now, perfectly timed with my heartbeat.
"My name's Anubis, Ma'am" he replied.
Anubis had heard the legends of how the gremlin race got to Cradle. Before they got here, the gremlins were a dying spacefaring race that had no homeworld. Then they found cradle, which at the time was simply raw energy surrounded by a near-impenetrable transparent sphere. This orb had sentience, however, and offered the homeless gremlins the ability to build their own home out of nearby planets as long as they made it as outsider unfriendly as possible. The gremlins jumped at this offer and quickly built a massive mechanical structure that contained floors filled with hostile creatures and traps. After dozens of uneventful generations, the knights arrived. Most gremlins were immediately hostile towards these strange creatures, probably because they still remembered getting driven to near extinction. Some gremlins refused to fight and were exiled, and were exiled, creating the town of Emberlight.
And the manifestation of this incredible power that changed the fate of his race was standing in front of him, but he had just one question "Why are you here?"
Axis looked to the mysterious gremlin. It had apparently been stalking them for a while. Kyrto intervened with the conversation, "Kill it, we have no use for it." But just as another Morai was about to pull a trigger, Axis interrupted. "Wait, if there are other following us, we can use this one as bait." he said cruelly. "Fine, but if it escapes I want it shot down immediately." Kryto mumbled. Khazaim took a place next to Gwen in the procession, with the gremlin in tow. "One false move and I won't hesitate to blow your heads off." Axis said sadistically to Gwen and the gremlin, unholstering the destroyer with malice. "Hurry it up Axis, no need to frighten them." Khazaim said, obviously annoyed with Axis' scare tactics. "Tch, either way they're both dead when we reach the core." Axis smiled, then pulled the viper hood over his head. It was getting colder, they were approaching some kind of cold storage.
