Why am I here?
What is my purpose?
Why do I fear
The trials before us?
I thought I could see
The traps in my path;
I thought I could tame
My enemy's wrath.
The trials are bleak,
My foes are the same.
My soul is too weak;
It puts me to shame.
My time slips away
By minute and second
Until at the end
My sins shall be reckoned.

"Why are you here?" asked Anubis. Before Gwen could answer, Kyrto barked to his men, "Kill it! We have no use for it." Instinctively, Gwen stood in front of Anubis and formed a protective force field around them both. Then Axis suggested, "Well, if there are others following us, we can use this one as bait." Kyrto grunted and mumbled, "Fine, but if it it escapes, I want it shot down immediately."
Gwen was horrified, and shouted at Kyrto, "Why is it okay to destroy a life simply because it is useless to you!? Why can you not simply let it go free?" Kyrto stopped and looked at her. "Because it will go get its buddies and return in greater force." Gwen scoffed. "He would have had no reason to do so had you left him alone in the first place!" Kyrto slapped her across the cheek, and she fell against the wall. "Have you no sense, woman? These monsters attacked us on sight! We left them alone, and we were rewarded with death! Now get on your feet and move your lazy arse before I whip it." The platoon broke out into fits of laughter. Gwen could feel her face flush. Khazaim tried to help her up, but she brushed him off and stood up on her own.
He took his place next to Gwen and Anubis as the group began their march again. Axis whispered to Gwen, "One false move, and I won't hesitate to blow your heads off," he said as he covertly drew his weapon. Khazaim nudged him. "Shush, Axis! No need to frighten them," he said, failing to hide his annoyance at Axis's scare-tactics. Axis just laughed him off. "Either way, they'll both be dead when we reach the Core."
They found the elevator and punched the down-button. The air grew colder as the lift descended into the city of Devilish Drudgery: Hiring Freeze.

I nod as she walks off, disappearing into the foliage. As we wait a little while longer, I setbthe angel down, and take the time to fashion a sling from the nearby leaves and vines. I nod to the others, picking up the angel once more and walk into the Forest. We are almost instantly attacked by three Wolvers. I bring out my swords, but then....I think of Ensar. I sheath my blades, and jump behind each Wolver, jabbing my two fingers into a fold under their spines, temporarily paralyzing them.
We walk further, and Many more Wolvers appear, biting us. I get three bites, one on the leg and two on the arm, before I tackle two of them, putting them in a chokehold until they pass out. I run at the other two and shove my fists down their throats, and I engulf my fists in poison, the slime on them expanding and clogging the Wolvers' throats until they, too, pass out.
I look on the ground and see tracks. "We're near Morai." I point to the tracks. "None of those shoe prints match any of the stuff senior Strangers sell, nor any. They have to be Morai."
