Im sure this has probably been suggested before, but...

How about Guns wielded by Both Hands?

Pros: More Powerful + More shots able to be fired.
Cons: No shield, so no Blocking + Lack of Close up abilities.

Maybe able to do a Gun-Bash, with Low Damage and Knockback instead of Bringing up the shield.
It would take up One weapon slot, but you would need to re-equip the shield manually when switching.

This could give alot of variety in Guns. (E.g. Shotguns, SMGs, Rifles).
We already have Guns, why not just make their Big Brothers?

Since they don't have a shield, would they not be able to use a Lockdown class?

CoD

OH NOEZ YUR TRYING TO MAEK SK INTO COD!!

lol

Seerusly tho, if knights are strong enough to hold troikas one-handed, I think they can do the same with guns. I'd otherwise like the idea.

I would like the look, but not as a mechanic. I mean... Would you really want to hold this thing with one hand? Not too keen about the no-shield part.

Would using 2 hands magically make it shoot stronger bullets?
And if your excuse is "big weapon, too heavy for one hand" you've never seen a troika.

NO.

Yes, it would look good, but in functionality, people would prefer to use a gun/shield hybrid instead of a pure gun loadout, since it would offer protection and the main reason the guns are for long-range is so that you can bring them down in the next hit with a sword.

[insert meme that would fit in this case]

This... just no

Why? people will just start dual weilding blitz and plague for van duke runs. Also image DOUBLING the number of charges you could make with industrial catalizer? This update could very well make THAT the new best item for van runs :l

This is not a dual wielding suggestion, it is a 2-hander suggestion.
There's a difference, but it's small.

As tempting as it would be to pistol whip someone in PvP, no.
I would prefer to retain my shield, personally.

Just thought it would benefit

Just thought it would benefit Gunners more-so, by having stronger Guns available.
No, Wielding a Gun with 2 hands wouldnt make it stronger, but would open up options to wield better, bigger, stronger guns.
Not a huge fan of CoD to be honest, just know a few types of Guns and would love to have seen some 2-handed variants of original guns.
(e.g. The Magnus could have a Shotgun variant, LMG for the Autoguns, Old Carbine for Antigua...etc etc.)
Maybe if some people wanted to play as a Pure-Gunner Squad, or Shock-Trooper thing. Blasting with a volley of perfferating Punishment.

Shield is an issue, but then there are drawbacks with every weapon-type. Still just initial ideas. Could balance it where continuous fire "suppresses" the target to severely decrease its movement, or something.

Or you could just design alternate, 1 handed weapons that fired the same way that you're mentioning, with unique models, instead of making everything resemble 21st century weaponry in appearance and restrictions, e.g. a chubby pistol with a wide ending that shoots a spray of bullets. Bam, shotgun. A Blaster-like weapon that fires a burst of nails in three rounds. Bam, there's your carbine/semi-automatic. And what's wrong with the Autogun as a fully automatic weapon?

The strongest weapon in the game is already a gun.

Hmm.

I'd rather like it if using the Autogun charge attack made you wield it two-handed, slowing you to walking speed and making you vulnerable in exchange for accuracy. The current implementation is overpowered and makes regular attacks pointless. Something should be done about it being largely a melee weapon in general.

Ahem

you mentioned that these ideas got suggested b4. Read those and notice their flaws, then come back and give up or strengthen your arguement.

Anyways, I wouldnt really think these are quite neccesary. Blitz does 1000s of dmg already, noones gonna give up their shield for 500 extra dmg points (at least IN
MO)

id rather have a different kind of gun like shotgun style perhaps shorter range but heavy damage or flamethrower/laser less bullets for these.

I rather like how the

I rather like how the Autoguns, to me at least, resemble heavy swords as much as other guns. "Pure" sword specialists get Avengers and Brandishes for gun-like reach and Troikas for bomb-like kaboom, so it seems right to me that gunners get Autoguns for damage and knockback, and Roarmulus guns for kaboom.

Back on-topic, if it required putting away the shield to use, I think a two-handed weapon should probably be something with especially good reach. That could be either strait-up vanilla range like the late RSS, (RIP) or ability to reach over walls, or a delayed effect like the planting of a bomb. I'm now imagining something like the Morafires' guns, but bigger since apparently theirs are small enough to wield with shields. Maybe the shield button could be used to set the mortar down and ready it for fire and pick it up to move.

A completely different idea is a weapon with no charge attack, to provide a contrast against bombs since they have only charge attacks. (though, TBH, I'd prefer just giving bombs a small sword-like "bash" attack with puny damage) It could be like the Scorchers' flamethrowers, or a properly full-auto LSW-type thing, justifying the lack of shield with the fact that instead of intermittent attacks with shielding in between, you just spray gratuitiously until whatever you're hosing stops looking vaguely threatening. Putting a melee attack on the shield button would be the obvious choice, but gun-butting is so played-out these days... Since we seem to have a paucity of "bomb-like" nature, the shield button should instead be used to set the weapon down and pull out another, whereafter the discarded weapon does something useful just like a bomb. (as long as it's not flinging shrapnel, of course!) I'm thinking a mini-sentry that has one combo's worth of "ammo" and explodes in a vapouriser-like cloud when it dies. (due to running out of ammo, running out of lifetime, or simply having a monster get too close to it, I dunno) Maybe that would be a bit OP, so how about just a roman candle effect? It could just fire constantly like a runaway gun, (pun intended) skittering terrifyingly across the ground due to recoil.

@Geo's first paragraph

Or, we could change all those weapons you listed because they are far more useful than their counterparts in a large majority of situations. And only Pepperbox line of Autoguns does knockback.

What other line is there?

What other line is there? Are you talking about Radiant Gun Shards? That's not an Autogun, it's a sub-machinesword. More seriously, I'd rather see things like Cutters made more appealing (whichever way, it's all cool; effectiveness, ease of use, or fun eccentricity) than weakening weapons that A LOT of peops have already invested in. Then buff the darn monster offerings to go with the general weaponry upgrades- not with moar HP to chew through or more damage to counter with trinkets and/or UVs, but with new mechanics that take some learning to deal with like the refreshingly different attack patterns of the new mini monsters. (I do wish they were less mini and spammy, but I choose to interpret it as throwing a bone to bombers.)

Guns kinda make sense for a weapon that requires putting away that shield, especially if we can get some more minimum range mechanics, (like on Pulseguns, but more significant!) but I also like the idea of super-swords that take the mentality of Chaos set to the next level. Maybe the shield button could activate a lunge instead, perhaps based on Lockdown's Striker class ability but toned down a few bytes. I guess bombs could get dual-wielding instead of a 2-handed weapon, which makes it a no-brainer what to do with the shield button.
