Personal characters would be what we the roleplayers control. You know how when we enter in character applications? Saying their name, race, loadout, etc? That's what's meant by "Personal Characters."

The moderator is the person who-
One: Creates the RP
Two: Subtley controls the storyline/players, and writes in the important events crucial to the progression of the RP.

So that's why I was confused. Because you had multiple characters you mentioned, and normally roleplayers only use one character at a time. It's difficult to use two at a time, let alone the amount you mentioned!
Thus I'm not sure your plot could work as a RP here. As a fanfiction? Of course! And it would be a very interesting fanfic as well! But RP's need something a bit more simple to properly work.

Here's how this roleplay stuff works:

The person who starts off the roleplay with the opening post is often the "moderator." The moderator enforces the rules of the roleplay, and tries to make the story go in the direction he wants it to (edited thx to Immortous). If other players want to join the roleplay, they must make a "character application." A character application contains information about a new character you want to play as. If the moderator likes your application, you may begin writing about your character in the roleplay. If the moderator doesn't like it, then you are not permitted to write about it in the roleplay until your character has been modified to the mod's liking.

What we don't do in most roleplays is ask the players to select a predetermined character to use. It's a workable system, but most players don't care for it (as far as I know). It essentially amounts to collaborative fanfiction, which is not what text-based roleplaying games are.

Once you're successfully joined the roleplay, you must follow the rules of the game as set by the moderator. Most moderators have rules against power-playing other players' characters (using characters that aren't yours) and god-modding (removing limits or boundaries on your character's abilities). Other common rules include character type limitations (like knights-only, monsters-only [like in Azure-Orbit's "Clockwork Renegades"], gremlins-only, etc.) and limitations on equipments and abilities (like allowing only 3* gear or lower).

And I'm not sure Retaeq's app would've worked, considering he had his character(s) be the protagonist(s). I may have come up with a new idea....(for my plot, in case no one has seen it)

Necrons(warrior-like version of the Valkyries)+ Reg. or otherwise Valkyries(relying on magic-infused weapons)+Isorians vs. An Empire built with pure Swarm, a living building, with the Master at it's heart. He has used the purest Swarmians(the magenta silhouettes) as his personal messengers, aka assassins. He has taken all Isorians who join him, and infused them with Swarm, turning them into strange, grotesque monsters(<--unplayable)....old Haven has been rebuilt from the debris of the war. Whispers fly through the streets, speaking of a rebel organization "The Lone Light". A mysterious leader, said to have silver hair and wings,(with Thinslayer's approval) walks among them. Some say she is the last of the Valkyries. Many Necrons are said to have been freed by this one group alone, and the Master has plans for their destruction.

Whispers? I think not.

Ah ok thank you for the clear-up :)

If my roleplay does get selected then each person can choose a character on first-come first-served basis. If there is a character leftover or there are more people, I will accept applications for new characters.

Rules for my Roleplay:
1. No powerplaying. Unless you have gotten permission from the person whose character you wish to use. The person must know what you are going to do with their character.
2. You can only use the selected gear for your character unless I say otherwise.
3. You must stay within your characters abilities (Eg. No invincibility)

I just have one question though. Do the moderators actually contribute to the story? (As in, do they take control of a character and write the story)

If my roleplay is selected, there could be a bumpy road ahead. Please feel free to make any recommendations to me.

Mods do contribute to the story, but the maker of the roleplay chooses the mods(me). I chose Thinslayer and Kaijuhunter for this roleplay. They will keep the story clean cut if they choose to accept the modship. I will set some more rules once we choose a plot, and Thinslayer, me, and Kaijuhunter will make sure no one steps outside the rule bounds.

I'll accept custom characters

I'll accept custom characters as long as he/she fits in with the story. The character must be balanced (eg. no invincibility or OHKO). You can borrow another persons character for long periods of time as long as they have your consent, and know what you plan to do with their character.

Yes, you can.

Characters in the Treasure Vault aren't necessarily stuck with the creators. They can scrap and make a new character as easily as they can stay with one.
Keep in mind this is a new roleplay with no relation to the previous ones.

Setting the Scene

Possibly first scene for the fanfic

I play the piano, the music floating around me in the darkness. A light shines from above, reflecting off the piano. I stare into my own eyes, one silver, and one a black marble with a white pentacle in the center. Fire circles around me, yet submissively, like I am it's king or prince. Half of my hair is black and red, and I have the same colored thorns sticking from the same sided shoulder and back. The light feels strangely unwelcoming, as if the place behind it is....dead....like the sun is now cold...

AWAKEN!

I wake up, the air cold, the ground a brownish-green clay, the sky a black-green, the sun shining a dead purple. I look behind me, and catch sight of a figure. I recognized him from the ancient Owlite books. A Necron, his skin on his neck imbued with diamonds, their glowing green appearance giving them off. He looks at me, and walks into the black, green-glowing ocean. Did he awaken me?

I hold myself and curl up. I probably looked hideous, with my new form a patchwork of other beings. I don't even remember reading any Owlite books....this is all very strange. I cry as I hold myself, and as I do, three creatures appear. One is a humanoid, skin long gone and a rib cage actually formed like a cage. A woman, whose face is wrinkled from her gaping mouth, her arms are wings and her feet are long talons. The third is undecipherable, it's bones are visible, and it's skin a transparent dark gel of some sort. The cage one lifts me up as if I'm nothing, and throws me into it's cage. Sinewy tendrils fly from it's bones and wrap around my arms, legs, torso, and neck, but barely enough to allow me to breath.

I've awoken to a nightmare.

Everyone has been reborn from the Ocean of Twisted Beings except those that are purest, whom have been reborn by other means. You disease (if you'll allow me) is spread now by the Messengers of the Master, and spread it by infecting one person, and returning them to their group or village to infect the rest. Or, if the Messengers are asked to, the Messengers will take one person, kill them by a brain-information overload, and take the avatar on as their own to use so they may infect people with a better chance at infecting more. (if that's not okay, I can easily edit it...)

Something that I kinda didn't agree to...

So, in order to bring back the "old layout" of the thread, a lot of people are gonna make a giant group who will pretty much stand as the Treasure Vault's greatest obstacle ever? (Negative tone)

So, in order to avoid cluttering up the threads, you guys made a group to not make too many threads, and to not play any games to the people who don't acknowledge the pack? (Neutral tone)

Well, I see what you guys are getting to. Organizing this thread is fine, but what about the new writers who want to create their own RPs? They aren't going to get much hosting experience if...

1. A large number of more-seasoned writers aren't willing to play their game because they have sworn an oath not to.

2. Their ideas get rejected or ignored should they enter the Pact.

Although, I do understand why you guys would want to vote. But still, I can't help but feel that it's a bit...off from what I'm used to.

I know this plan is in the works, and I may have influenced Seatus a bit, but still, a newbie writer can't host his own RP without a huge lump of players saying that they can't play it? That's kinda discouraging.

The pact only forbids the involved parties from creating new roleplays. It does not prevent them from participating in existing ones created uninvolved parties. For example, since you did not sign the pact, you are free to create as many roleplays as you like, and the pact members are free to participate.

For another example, Kaijuhunter's current roleplay violates the pact, which specifies that all current members must graveyard their RPs and submit to a new, common one. Kaijuhunter is a pact member, but has not yet graveyarded the current RP. By reasonable implication, pact members should not be allowed to participate in it.

In short, this pact has no effect whatsoever on newbies who did not sign it.

He didn't even sign the pact, and frankly, I think you guys are being a bit ridiculous. If I were inclined to roleplay online right now, I'd join Vinnydime's game just to spite you.

Not everyone has the same kind of play style and will enjoy the same kind of game, regardless of what "the community" votes on or comes up with as a group. Some people thrive on rules, while others need more leeway, some prefer a darkly toned game while others need to keep the story lighter, and some need constant action while others prefer their roleplay to primarily consist of conversation. No matter how carefully crafted, no single game is going to achieve a perfect balance for everyone, and like it or not, some people are going to hate the leadership style of whoever is in charge of the story or tend to disagree with a lot of the moderators' decisions. Why shouldn't they be able to head out and find or make a game that suits them (and maybe others) better?

It isn't the number of roleplays that make a mess in the forum, it's the number of extra threads, the separate application and discussion threads, that clutter things up. Learn to manage your players and organize your posts and you don't need separate threads. If you're going to start shunning, harassing and generally ostracizing people who don't want to play what you guys are playing, this pact could be the worst thing that has ever happened to the Treasure Vault, and I do count the Pow invasion in my list of things that are potentially less obnoxious.

(@Vinnydime: You could always have a moderator remove them as spam)

I'm inclined to agree with Vinnydime and Tevokkia. The pact shouldn't be used to hit people over the head; it is only for the benefit of the signing parties.

@Vinnydime: I'm sorry that the pact was used to treat you like that. It's certainly giving me second thoughts about it.

@Tevokkia: Note taken. If you have any suggestions on how to organize the stories, please provide them. The easiest and most workable method utilized multiple threads, but I've toyed with others.

The problem lies with your attitude towards some instances. This isn't exactly a serious issue but it's not something we can act casually upon either. Be a gentleman and apologize if something's wrong. It may hurt your pride (I know it does to mine), but it's the best thing to do. Don't hold grudges or put people on 똥lists either. It's not nice and nobody likes it.
We also look for maturity on the forums. There's people that aren't exactly the best at spelling and grammar and may not understand everything, but they're mature and act with dignity. You, however, have shown a very child-like and even annoying personality that comes up at the worst times and does no good. If you plan on staying here, which may not be the case with the events that have happened, act like an adult, even if you aren't one. The fact that you decided to speak in 1337 after you insulted someone instead of delivering an apology was not the right course of action and was a bad decision that will affect your reputation and how people think of you.
I'm disappointed.

And that's saying a lot, since I am PREEEETTY immature. I wanted this Pact to keep the Treasure Vault clean, but that seems to be cutting my wrists. You don't have to leave, you just need to think about your actions and what consequences they may hold.
We know close to nothing about each other here. For all you or anyone knows, I could go into a frenzied rage if you say something degrading about cancer patients (wouldn't be surprising to me actually). The same goes for everything else.
If you plan on staying, we should all agree to drop the matter and act like it never happened. It's the coward's way out, but it settles everything peacefully. Just make sure to act better in the future. This is the internet, you're still hurting feelings even if you can't see or know the person behind the post, and it's entirely possible to make yourself look bad even if people don't know who you are.

Look, just fix your life before it gets any worse than this. Looking at your situation now, I do feel pity, but I also feel some anger towards you. Alright, so I guess I am a very immature, jump-to-conclusion kind of guy.

Nevertheless, all that is done and done. Doing what Aekyuri said would be beneficial.

From there, just take a look at yourself, in real life, and think.

I don't know the exact details of what's going on, but I'm pretty sure that your bright enough to fix your life. The first step you can take is dropping this thing with being on the internet altogether. Doing this type of stuff online is only good if your life outside of the electronic world is good. Otherwise, you're gonna end up homeless or in your parents' basement.

Well, you can hold grudges, but hold them silently. It's not nice to say that you hate x for y openly, and more importantly, it doesn't do anything for anyone and causes more conflict.
Liminori, you're a good writer and person, but if you're going to act like that, you'll need to make some changes to your manner of speaking/typing.

I was hoping with Seatus' departure we could get on with the roleplay, but it seems we have one more person leaving, because of anger.

I'm not sure why I'd be put in a list of hated people for doing something different, that's what got me so fired up.

Honestly, I would've gotten myself banned if I let it go over too much, but now that he's gone, I can't do much else to make amends or anything.

If he is still reading this:

Alright, so it started with me making an RP. Seatus didn't like it, immortous didn't like it. I was going to be fine with that, until I noticed he put me in a [crap] list. So, for doing something different, I had to get put in his list of people who he views as [rusted]?

As the over-reactive jerk I am, I did go crazy with him, both in-game and on the forums.

At his replies, when he was talking about his family and all, I was going to say sorry.

And then when he put it in 1337 form, I thought he was just screwing. I still think he was just messing around.

If he's going to act like that because he can't handle himself on his side of the computer, then why should I sugar-coat it and be nice to him? I, being the rash idiot I am, threw that all out and just told him to leave.

I assume he did just that.

But seriously, it escalated quickly when both of us just skyrocketed with our aggro.
