I plan on making one. If you think it's horrible, say why before I waste 600CE.
Tell me why the Stone Tortoise is not used.
Probably because the Omega Shell is plain better. Seriously though, have a look here.
It slipped down to page 2. I haven't read it but you might as well.
I quite like my omega shell, and my ston tortoise before that, though I'll say right now that it can't take a hit from vana's mace. If that matters to you, get volcanic plate shield.
It's not bad but not great either. Just a regular shield. People prefer speed from swiftstrike.
These shields have unparalleled versatility, thanks to their extra health over every other shield. The Omega Shell is better than any other shield at absorbing sub-optimal damage (e.g. pure elemental bullets), and better than every other normal-resistant shield (except the Plate series) at absorbing normal damage. I've seen it hold up against spike traps as well as Aegis, withstand zombie swipes about as well as Grey Owlite, and withstand fire grates better than the Crest of Almire (which has fire resistance! Imagine that!).
It's an amazing shield if you're looking for versatility, but it always performs poorly compared to specialized shields against optimal damage sources. To put that in perspective, the Omega Shell will break in about 3 hits from zombie swipes, but the Crest of Almire will break in 5 hits. That doesn't look like a whole lot, but seriously, it's a lifesaving difference. Grey Owlite will break on fire grates in about 5 hits (wowzers!). Volcanic Plate can withstand Vana's mace, a couple slag charge hits, and a couple shadow fire hits all in a row together without breaking.
Omega Shell could never do that, no matter what UVs you slap on it.
Ah, I see. I just read the wiki and I did not notice before that the durability of a shield is specialized against its stats, I thought that the "health" stat was the only thing that mattered and the other stats acted as armor. However the info about statuses is definitely helpful too.
Both the damage type resistances and status resistances contribute to the durability of the shield. Health differences become noticeable against attacks that don't match the shield's resistances.
Ah, I had one about 2 years ago and even upgraded to the Omega Shell. As I remember correctly, it just couldn't hold up that well. Its a pretty shield and it did its job alright, but not well... however I didn't know how to dodge enemy attacks back then. If you're good at dodging attacks and only use your shield once or twice then you'll be fine. But if you're the type that blocks constantly then I do not recommend it.
I don't see exactly why people see OS so poorly, owait, fsc got farmable via missions.
If you're looking for a shield that will work consistently in any variety of strata, and know how to make it to where you will only take a couple hits here or there, within most scenarios, OS is a good shield. SSB will be for when you're basically capable of only getting hit once or twice and are not a bombing technician.
Drake scale is the best versatility class shields line for SK. Dragon shield for at range combat (save in utterly shadow-based strata) and OS for melee range combat.
Quite a nice choice, i'd risk to say that the stone tortoise is one of the best 4* shield.
