Sadly I have succumb to one of these. Seeing as I had done this so many times before, I didn't believe this game had these sort of low lives, but I was proven wrong.

Basically I was trying to buy a Hunting Blade, this one character, Lexaneous, told me he'd craft it for me it for 20k if I gave him some of the mats, and 2.5k to create it. I was right next to him, gave him the crowns, and mats, and he just logged off. This sob, didn't take much, at least considering how much I have so far, but it's still wrong, and disgusting to see people who actually resort to this type of behavior that makes the game that much more annoying. I was hoping to be able to trust others, since truly this isn't a game about being the "best" and all was based on just looks pretty much as stats/level deal with armor/wep tier, but it happened still.

This is basically just a warning, since I know moderators cannot do anything for me as I was the one dumb enough to trust players.

This wouldn't have been a problem if they have a better crafting system by allowing one player to craft with another player CE, crown, materials, crafter fee and confirming message to both party.

Ugh.

It saddens me to see this.

One thing you should be aware of, for future reference: Most 4* equipment cannot just be made, as they require a level 5 piece of 3* equipment. 5* equipment is even harder. Unless you are commissioning someone to make you something, which I wouldn't really recommend for reasons you've already sadly discovered, don't hand over anything until they have the item in question. I personally only sell crafted items I either can make at the drop of a hat, if they're not pre-made.

Another note, that hunting blade would have cost him 350 energy and about 5k crown to make. At current energy prices, 20k crown is a loss, and that's ignoring materials. Be careful when someone is offering you that good of a deal.

Yeah... But until they do,

Yeah... But until they do, this is a problem people should start looking out for as the player base expands.

Yeah as I said I bought into his scam, but at the same time I've had people who just want to get rid of their stuff quick and I've pre-paid them to help 'em with the cost of creating the item, etc... In the end, I know now not to ever do that again.

This guy has a history

This particular character has a history of scamming, I'm surprised he hasn't been suspended/banned yet.

This thread contains a discussion of his previous misdeed.

Complain!

Use the features provided to report a player for scamming when this happens, and use it -right away-. Nothing in the game's interface shows that the trade was anything other than a gift, and any chatlog that might exist will surely be limited in time or buffer space and not normally saved, so you need to complain right away. If staff doesn't know what's happening, they can't do anything about it.

You tend to not be able to report them when they log off instantaneously. It's how he gets away with it. I hope no one ever gets to be scammed by him from now on, and I hope he gets banned for it.

Same, I mean I got my Hunting

Same, I mean I got my Hunting Blade, and a Grey Owlite Shield later, like 2-4 hours after I got scammed. I was smart enough to only give him a fraction of the price. I do admit in my head I totally hesitated to give him the full amount so I only gave him the "needed crafting" amount. But yeah, I guess that should have been my warning, but I didn't heed it.

I decided to try to message him, didn't work, still... He seems to probably log off for the day once he scams, I even attempted to add him as a friend, will see what happens, I'll keep trying to whisper him, eventually I will find him, and report him.

If somebody is crafting an

If somebody is crafting an item for you, you should never, ever give away the machine cost on an item before an item is completed.

If they require the mats first, go ahead and give them those. But only because the mat cost is minor when compared to the crowns and energy cost. But always wait until the item is completed before you hand ANY of your valuable CE away. If anybody ever objects to you waiting to give your CE and crowns until after the item is completed, walk away. Don't believe any excuse they offer. It's not worth the risk.

You absolutely can complain people who are logged off, for precisely this reason. Just type /complain Name. :)
