The worst part is that you can skip spike traps with the dash without taking any damage.
How? Walking into a bed of spikes with your shield up and then dash. You'll see. >.>

How is that the worst part? It's an interesting combination of two abilities. It's like saying the worst part about swinging weapons is you can shield cancel them.
I think that would be considered a bug auto, so I would say, if that's the worst part, then this update wasn't too bad (except from the horrible icons xD, and I didnt even realise the colour next to the icon was meant to show the resistance (which is bugged just to say) because it's such a dark shade. Wouldn't mind have **** instead of 4* though. . .)
If I were mind-wiped and played Spiral Knights again, I probably would like the new UI and icons. But every time I look at them, I'm reminded of the old look and I miss it quite a bit. The icons are lovely, but they don't fit in the game at all, at least not to me.
At least you guys are making up the aesthetic changes with the new gameplay changes. I rarely ever find a situation to use Shield Bash, but I certainly make heavy use of the Dash. Not sure how everybody keeps saying the invincibility is glitched, it's just a few short frames near the beginning of the dash. I've dashed straight through a barrage of Gun Puppy bullets every single time so far without fail (Save for lag), and it can get me out of range of a Lumber attack at point blank
@Tat: You're supposed to use it for evasion, not travel.
Considering it's part of the Update, and making a thread seems a bit excessive, does anyone know if the Thunderous Mail is a reskin or not? And, if it is, of what? I'm thinking Skelly series, but I'm not sure myself.
and I sure hope you will suffer for it.
your maturity is showing
True, although I don't use demo suits that often (and only just recently), which could be why it didn't cross my mind. However, it's got Skelly claws and lacks a backpack. Although, now that I think about it, it kinda reminds me of Vanaduke...
Dashing after taking damage on your shield and then taking no damage afterwards is not a bug. After you take damage on your shield, you have very short period of time where you're invunerable. (it's to prevent spikes from multi-hitting your shield and breaking it instantly) During that time, you dash, and if done correctly the dash's invunerability period will cut in just as the shield's invunerability period runs out.
And yet the spikes still pull you in and break the shield anyway
I know it's a bug. It's just that in the testing server I was able to skip several sections of the Snarbolax SL using that technique. It's kinda skewed some levels.
Otherwise, it's a great update.
The colors of the illustrations for the mats themselves are too close to the colors of the icon backgrounds. That's what's making it hard for me to tell what's what. Not for all of them, but the green and brown ones are awful about it.
Yeah, the dash really isn't all that useful. Comparing a character walking and one that dashes, the dasher will only end up one character length ahead after a dash compared to plain walking. In theory this isn't an issue, but the invincibility frames themselves are either too brief to be useful.. or buggy as hell. I mean it's cool to dash around and all, but I can't find anything the dash lets me do that I couldn't before just plain walking away from enemies. I've attempted to use the invincibility frames, but it's a fool's gamble all in all.
The bash is useful depending on how good you are at not getting slaughtered attempting it because the bash has no actual interrupt power. It just applies stun.
