Also, let's say we match the counted numbers and the post numbers up. What do we do when someone double posts or decides to not post a number, thereby, creating a discrepancy? Just skip a number and add it to the list on the back burner?

@U7 As nice as it would be to have the post and counted numbers match, it is a bigger hassle to keep the post and counted numbers matching than if we continue counting linearly like we have been doing.
As far as mistakes are concerned, yes, using the post number would cut down on the number of mistakes. However, if people checked several of the posts that preceeded their own post, they could determine if they posted the correct number (and if someone else did not). Checking after posting would also eliminate multiple posts with the same time and number.
Using a little equation is a nice idea, but, frankly, I don't feel like creating one at the moment. If someone else wants to, I am all for it, but there is still an unresolved issue that occurred a couple pages ago.
To sum it all up, if we all work together and pay attention to what we are doing, it is not that difficult to keep things running smoothly.
