Hm? What am I talking about?

Well, before the UI update, I had backed up the old UI. Then afterword, I started tweaking the current game to look a bit more like how it used to. Now, you see, I like how the new UI looks, but I know many people don't, so that's why I was working on this tweak. I had made a good deal of progress on it.

I then decided to ask if what I was doing was okay or not. The Dev Team wanted me to stop working on it, as it was changing the game files. I stopped, but I'm seeing that the new icons will take away further from what was in the game used to look like. (I'll mention that I like the new icons as well.)

So, my question is this: How many players are in support of this? How many are against it? If I get enough support, I'll ask the Dev Team again. If I get the OK, I won't even distribute what I make to anyone other than the Dev Team so they could implement it anyway they wished to.

One of the reasons for me doing this rather than them is so they can focus on working on what they want to. Once I would finish, then they could drop it in with some check box or something.

Keep in mind that this would not change the location of HUD objects.

I'll remind everyone again that I'm not doing this for fame or my own preference of the old UI; it's because I want to see this game keep it's wonderful community. Yes, Eurydice, no one likes change, AND too much change will make players leave. Many players feel the UI is just that: too many changes. We could live with either new graphics style or new HUD placement, but not both and once.

Interestingly, I'm finding my game to be running a bit faster with this mod installed. I think that the advanced images are definitely bearing a great load on the JVM.

Finally, I'm moving this to the Treasure Vault. It isn't a suggestion anymore, really. If the mods find it to be otherwise, I politely ask you to leave a comment on why it belongs in the suggestions forums.

UPDATE: Turns out, I'm not ready to go into beta yet. I've found a group who are doing icons...I'll team up with them. I'll sends out a screen shot soon!

Actually, no. I've had to go in with my trusty image editor many many times of what I've done so far. Many formats have changed, and I've removed the badge effect from the old vials. (I'm sorry...it's just that they are waaaay too big with them due to newer values.) I'm assuming I'll have to change even more now that they've made new icons for the equipment, because almost each one seems to not use recolored icons like they used to.

The new UI looks awful in my opinion, and any way to revert to the old style would be ideal in my eyes.

I'm a little curious at why this has been moved. I'm not suggesting something for the game...unless this is being viewed as a suggestion to get a re-skinned UI.

Supported. Even on a computer with 4 gigs of ram and a 2GHZ 2core CPU it skips. Before the update it ran 100% without any flaws.

Supported. The old UI was way better than this new one. Though don't be disappointed when you have 100 supports and they still won't accept it because they tend to have a take it and deal with it policy. Just like everyone that asked them to change their rss to the elemental type after the rss update because we used rss for its elemental and not pierce. Besides the fact its name even screams elemental.

I'm not sure if I'm understanding you right...but so you know, I cannot move the HP bar, remove the character at the top left, re-add a permanent weapon display, etc. What I'd be doing is flattening almost everything, and making it look like how it did before they made things look popped out.

You know, this deserves a pic right now. It'd clarify.

Of course, these a) don't show all the changes which I made and b) don't show all the changes I want to make.

EDIT: Just so you know, I'm only doing this because I really really want to see this game last a long time. I feel that this mod would do just that, because many players left because of the new UI's style. If this becomes a thing, chances are some players will see it and will come back The object of this isn't to make myself a big name or anything. I understand that they're a small team, and maybe they can't take the time to create a reversion of the UI. I can't see into what's going on over there, so this is all I can think.

This is a bit more interesting: The mod is coming along somewhat well! I'll have another picture up soon. I'll probably just do everything but the equipment icons and the character equipment screen because...that's a daunting task right there. (You say no? Well...the old pictures were just recolors. I have to make my own images of all of these and replace the game's images with them.)

Only thing that bothers me in new UI is that I always have to open my arsenal just to see how much cr or energy I got. Could you maybe find a way to put at least a small window where I can see my mist. But that doesn't realy matter.

I personally don't mind it much, but this would benefit both the dev team and the community with no immediate negative impacts.

Well, I might try, but I think it would be very hard to do it, and it would definitely be glitchy....I know it's possible because it worked when I tried dumping the entire old UI folder in without any tweaks. The result? I could only go to the character select screen because the game would hang after I chose a knight. The old energy indicator was there, though. Many buttons had error images instead of their normal button images.

Also, I have a new plan: I'll keep on working on this mod, and when it's done I'll ask if I/they can release it. Until then, get your friends on this thread! The more support, the better! I'll also check around in game if anyone is interested.

Grabs Wrench Wand. Time to go Gremlin on this thing again...
