Yeah, I noticed that when I tried to upload a Sloom. I'll be going through the Wiki now and replace those images with the ones that existed beforehand. >_<
I'm sorry for spamming the Recent Changes page! OTL
Big Ol' Beastiary
As soon as we can I'd like to have monster names displayed when they're targeted so you guys can know exactly what some of them are called. Digging around in the game files won't give you entirely accurate info, things have changed since their inception.
And thus we can then discern regular ol' pink jellies from regular ol' pink jellies with auras on the ground around them named "Bring It On".
I mean, that latter one's totally harmless, right?
@ Saphykun, it seems my sword with Increased Damage vs Slime does extra damage against lichens and slooms, so I guess that would classify them all as jellies.
Alright, I have an issue with the monster template.
Looking at gun puppies for a moment.
http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Gun_Puppy
(the same issue occurs with jelly cubes, btw)
Location isn't useful as a set of levels. A given level at depth 1 might have a Gun Puppy Mk 1, or a pink Jelly Cube, but at depth 4 might be a blue Cube or a Mk 2.
The point is that as you go down (and my experience is limited at the moment), you'll see some monsters upgrade; I'm expecting that the deeper you go, the more upgrade.
I'm not how to best communicate this. I found rocket puppies on a first floor clockwork tunnel, and thought that was much too hard, until I found a love puppy a little deeper in. (Dodge missiles, and hit hearts.)
@BehindCurtai: What do you mean by a set of levels? Do you mean giving a range of depths, for example, Rocket Puppies can be found between Depths 14-21? I admit that going into specifics (Clockwork Tunnels - Haunted Passage, Overgrown Path) was a bit of a stretch on my part.
Also, when editing the wiki, it would help if you gave a summary of what you edited in the summary bar so that people like me don't hwfo when an article is edited.
Alright, I'll try to put in a comment for my edits. For some of them, the edit will be as big as the comment :-).
Yes, range of depths is what I was thinking. For example, gun puppy mark one is found at depth 1-N for , 1-M for . A Gun puppy mark 2 is found at X-Y for , and A-B for .
So, of course, what threat colors do you want to document?
After some observations I'm starting to wonder if including HP in the monster template is appropriate. At first I thought that HP was consistent from monster to monster, and that HP increases as monsters are 'upgraded' (as mentioned earlier). But looking at monster that don't upgrade like Kats and Dust Zombies, HP seems to vary from ~80 between Haven and MM to ~240 between Ember and the Core for Kats, and ~110 between Haven and MM to ~300 between for Dust Zombies.
The flamethrower pups are known as 'Red Rovers' by the way.
Do the rocket ones have a special name, too?
They're rocket puppies, you got it right.
I made some changes to monster names on the wiki.
I wasn't sure about the pics of the slooms you guys have, so I just listed the correct ones under 'types' on that page.
@ Levonis, I would hold off on inputting HP until we know how the threat indicator function is going to work, since as I understand, it's still in testing. Higher threat could just spawn more enemies, but it might also make enemies stronger.
@ Mesona Yes, my proposal would be to remove both the HP (for now) and the Damage windows of the monster template. I'm still not sure about the threat level. Is that determined by player opinion or the threat indicator somehow?
Edit: And thanks for those name corrections, nick. :D
From what I've read, it's determined by the number of players as well as the star quality of their gear. As to the impact it has on the game, I'm not really sure. I just did an arena with three other people and the threat level was orange, yet it seemed like the enemies all did normal damage as well as had normal health.
The threat indicator gives enemies some more health, etc. It "increases the difficulty" of the level. Number of monsters that spawn are the same.
It's based on depth, party members, and gear I think.
I did arenas with 3 other well geared people and the threat level was higher than red, it was purple with an evil eye. Still there wasn't much difference.
Yeah, I had read the same thing. What I meant was where are we getting the information for the threat ratings? i.e. How was it determined that a Dust Zombie is a 2-star threat and a Droul is 3-star?
Dust Zombies and Drouls are currently equally matched. One stuns you, one poisons you so it's a matter of what gear you're wearing to determine their 'threat.'
I was referring to the Zombie wiki page (http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Zombie). I guess that just means the wiki threat ratings are inaccurate.
Edit: Here's my draft proposal for a new monster template - http://wiki.spiralknights.com/User:Levonis
I like the new monster template a lot.
It looks great, but the small font in the description makes me cringe a bit, even though they're the same size as other monster templates.
The transition to the new template has begun! :D
Unfortunately because a few of the images were never uploaded in the format of 'Monster-Name_Here', unless there's a way to change file names we'll have to upload new images.
I also increased the font size a tad. I agree, the smaller font is a bit too hard to read.
When you're updating monster pages, check the family pages for images. There are already a whole bunch of images already uploaded (eg. all the construct monsters), so you don't need to go to the trouble of uploading duplicates.
