It should be in the game, use up say, 500-1000 CE or so, theres no reason your item should be permanantly lost if you equip it on something and then want to move it. Seriously. Why not?
Yet another Accessory unbind thread
Because then all accessories will decrease in value. And people don't like having their non-liquid assets devalued for - in their eyes at least - no reason.
Think about it. Accessories only enter the economy through boxes and the Featured Auctions. They then circulate through the players. And finally they are removed by attaching it to an armour.
Without a way to remove - or consume, if you will - these things, they will continue to circulate and as more supply is introduced their value will continue to decrease.
EDIT: At least, that is my reasoning.
P.S. Klipik, have you used the search bar? Have you seen how inefficient it is? How terrible it is? I have half a mind to search all the threads and find all the arguements against each topic. The other half wants me to do some work. I should probably listen to that side.
Anywho, maybe you should just post a link and show us what arguement has been posed against this. Please?
Instead of that whole complicated thing with accessory star levels and costs and whatnot, it could be much simpler.
-Accessories are unbound.
-Armors with accessories are unbound (unless worn).
-Accessories can be moved from armor to armor, if they are both in your inventory at the time.
-Armors with accessories that have been moved to them are untradeable until you destroy the accessory or move it to another armor.
That doesn't solve the problem entirely.
-Armors with accessories that have been moved to them are untradeable until you destroy the accessory or move it to another armor.
This means that accessories would contain a variable that states what armor they were originally attached to. If you lose the original armor for some reason, say you unbind it or vendor it, then what happens to the accessory? It just bounces around in your inventory perma-binding any armor it's currently attached to until you destroy it. That means once you lose the armor the accessory was originally bound to, there is no way to resell the accessory. As there is little way to easily display this on the accessory itself, many players can be misled and confused by such a system. My suggestion solves that by giving accessories a star-based system: something that players already understand.
You say "yet another thread", but you go ahead and make it anyway. Go search for the other threads, they'll tell you why not.
