I am afraid of speaking up for anyone, not anymore.
But, a word for all offenses and defenses.
What does it matters more, the salvation, or the desolation?

the only way not to be scammed is to teach the guys out there to wait to click confirm until they got what they want. so te scammer will be forced to reveal him/herself.
I guess it is pretty bad if someone accuses someone of being a scammer, and he turns out to be lying.. and the wrongfully accused will have to deal with that bs that comes after that. So yeah this can go either way, just outrageous for them to make alts and continue scamming, or be wrongfully accused.
This thread was made two days ago and reached its second page.../clap Crossproduct
And someone tried to convince me that TF2 Premiums were craftable which sounds ridiculous so I checked the wiki and it never said anything about crafting Premium accounts. I offered him (no clue who he is) some of my crowns for a TF2 Prenium and he told me how to craft it and I went down to not accepting his offer after telling him accounts cannot be crafted even though he (obviously bluffing) said that they can be crafted and he would give a full refund if it didn't work. This may be another form of scam.
Okay, that's a bit out of context considering it was part of the earlier "if" (if that part of the sentence in #49 wasn't clear enough, then I apologize). However, you do make a point about spotting scammers. That said, not everyone's going to know about scammers until it's happened.
/r Thunderbog: The Desolation of Salvation. I'm quite serious about that.
One thought: I would happily take a warning and even a 24-48 hour ban from Spiral Knights if it meant warning the community about an active, confirmed scammer...
OOO's logic when it comes to frauds and scamming is beyond human comprehension. They insist for example to not upgrade the unbinding system to offer players a safe way to unbind an item cooperatively. They'd rather have people taking the risk to provide an unbind fee upfront than add a system that can enable safely providing an unbind fee. They also don't judge it's a "scam" since in such cases both players agreed to the trade made. Those are occuring daily and quite frankly, I long to see the day OOO understands that this is something that ought to be fixed. Release the workload of your moderators, make scamming harder!
"make scamming harder!"
It should be impossible to scam someone.
Crossproduct assumes I'm this Warped-Flourish guy because he was spamming the trade chat with "be alert for scammer!". I sent him a /tell asking how in the high hell anyone can be scammed with the trading system we have(2 giant confirm buttons that each person has to press to accept, even Steam has this). While waiting for a response, I had seen Warped-Flourish's steam games ad before seeing crossproduct's alert, and his advertisement was:
"Selling steam games 600ce/$1"
As a person who just back on Spiral Knights to capitalize off of the Summer Sale, I thought "well, that's how I remember the ce/$ rate being, that must still be acceptable since he's using it." And thus I proceeded to advertise my own little "shop" with the same rate. Suddenly, I get a response from Crossproduct something along the lines of:
"i know its u even if u hide behind alts reported"
What
So he starts going on and on about how I'm secretly Warped-Flourish the malicious scammer bent on destroying the lives of millions with my shady business practices. I decide to talk to him on Steam and clearly show the distinction between me and the guy he's mad at. The conversation goes something like this:
"u owe me 1### ce"
"I think you've got the wrong guy, "
"now i know ur alts. reported."
"Have you even looked at my Steam account? We're two different people, the guy in that screenshot isn't me."
"multiple steam accounts"
"Have you looked at my games list? What kind of guy would buy games like Far Cry 3, Dead Island + Riptide, etc for their alternate account? Have you checked anything at all? Look at my play history. Our typing is even different, for crying out loud."
"no need"
(yes, he quite literally denied the need to have appropriate proof before making these outlandish claims against me)
The conversation goes in a circle past that point. Crossproduct has to be the densest person I've ever met because he refuses to accept anything that is outside of his little fantasy land where he is always right. The saddest part of it all? I saw people today being accused of being "my scamming alts" just because they had a conversation with me. Is everyone so worked up over this that they're just throwing the blame around on anybody they can find to give themselves some twisted self-satisfaction or closure? By all means, bash the scammer for doing bad things, but don't rope me or others into this mess if they've got nothing to do with it.
**DISCLAIMER** In no way was I exaggerating the typing of either one of us, that's an honest paraphrase, spelling and grammar included, of the events of a couple days ago. I'm not out to portray anybody as "dumb" by putting their dialogue in a dishonest form.
Well that certainly seems to clear things up. Crossproduct, would you like to call a witness to the stand?
Needs moar screenies, can't take anyone's word here.
I hope I don't get into trouble for this, but if it pleases you, there's a thread on another forum that was made on Friday (July 19). It was a more fleshed out version of the OP here, and his only post there.
I won't say more than that though, I imagine I'm already toeing the line too much here.
And what a public service it is to name and shame scammers.
Why do people trust others to insure that their money goes toward a future item for themselves when trading? Would you trust anybody on the street to go get you, say, a phone by trading him a box of burritos? I don't think so.
Plus, who carries around boxes of burritos anymore? Its not the 20s.
OK, if you wish to continue this then here goes.
The sk account monork used the exact same trade chat spam. Not just the same rate, but the whole thing, character for character was identical, a full 2 sentences. Further BEFORE anyone mentioned this in public, monork started messaging me along the lines of "how dumb can you be to get scammed on steam trade". As if you were just trying to rub it in. I did not want you to get wise about how we were able to spot your alts so easily, so I declined to mention anywhere you'd see that it was your mistake of using the same trade chat copy/paste that gave you away.
Unfortunately it did not cross my mind to go through and take screenshots of every conversation I ever had.
Also, trying to make up quotes of things I said and using broken internet english is laughable, and claiming that it's "an honest paraphrase" at the bottom, just shows how much of a liar and malicious troll you are. Anyone who's ever talked to me knows I don't talk like that. Hilarious.
At this point I know what I know, and if anyone asks me about you, I will tell them. We have other evidence of this guy's malicious/untruthful behavior, but won't post it here, anyone who wants to know more may ask me or numerous other traders on trade chat about this guy.
I hope the admins are looking into all of this guy's accounts, I know he's been reported by multiple people. And again I remind people not to engage in trades that require trust with people you do not know, especially this guy.
I was actually joking. But anyways, if we're going to continue this, I'm with Monork for a couple of different reasons. One, he has an extremely developed account on Spiral Knights which leads me to believe that no alt would be developed so well just to scam someone. Two, he does not seem to have any other connection to *ahem* (he who cannot be named, for the HP fans) other than that stated above, which he gave a fair reason for. Three, *ahem* is a known scammer in other games whereas I've just heard of monork. And four, his intentions are more of an explorer type than a killer or socializer if you are familiar wih Richard Bartle's taxonomy.
Seems to me that although cross product is concerned about scam artists, they jumped the gun and decided to point fingers with an argument that doesn't have supportive evidence.
jumping to conclusions and blaming innocents is a sure fire way of making yourself look rash, childish, and stupid.
Rash and stupid? Definitely.
Childish? Adults do it every day. How do to the decide whether or not which is which, in this case would be childish, despite not knowing the facts.
@Gravelord-Caste
Crossproduct's stopping people from getting scammed
You shouldn't have to rely on someone else to protect you from being scammed. You should know how to identify scammers on your own.
@Weedalot
When people just flaunt "Naming and shaming is not allowed!" or link to the rule, they aren't really discussing, debating, or argumenting, hence why I said flame.
I thought you were saying it to me though, hence why I responded.
