Alright what do you guys think of playing Spiral Knight on Touch Screen Device like Ipad.
Is it possible ?
How will it work ?
Will people play it ?

Spiral knights on touch screen device, ex ipad would work pretty seamlessly. Touch a place to move to it, swipe to attack, those are your two key buttons right there. have an onscreen button for attack and shield as well. And the only thing that would probably be annoying is typing to people. The real question is can any of those touch screen devices - tablets or phones handle Spiral Knights.
iPad does not support Java and judging from Steve Jobs' standpoint towards it, won't support Java in a long time to come. So...
Is it possible? No (not on the ipad anyway).
So what you are saying is that other tablet device like the Playbook would have a chance to play it ?
As long as the device was wireless enabled and could read the setup files it should at least load. But then theres the whole MASSIVE problem of key bindings. The games scripted to use the standard keyboard and mouse set up. Touch screens are a completely different device and it would depend of the tablet what kind of editing you would be able to do with it. It would take a development team or someone with massive knowledge and a lot of spare time to do it.
I like access to haven on a touch device. Then I can do trading all day. :)
No mobile device yet exists with the graphics processing power to render a 3D game. Until that happens, you can forget about playing SK on your phone or tablet.
If you want touch-screen compatibility, there are some touch-screen desktops that could handle it, but that seems silly compared to using a game pad or mouse/keyboard.
The PowerVR SGX545 GPU in the iPhone 4 can. I know this for fact, it runs directx 10.1 and OpenGL3.2 a chip being used very well with game developers right now (Look at pocket legends, a similar MMO for iphone)
I would assume tablets have the ability to process 3d these days also (Well for definate the iPad 2)
Edit: Also theres a few vids about with WoW being played on the iPad, granted it lags like hell. But its a possibility.
Android platforms can do 3D. They have support for OpenGL ES and fairly good graphics processors in most cases. There are Android tablets as well on the market which could do the job. Plus, look at that, Android is Java based.
Playbook might be able to do the job, but honestly Blackberry equipment never struck me as "game" oriented and more "business" oriented. Honestly, how much graphical grunt do you need to show slide shows and the odd video clip?

Have you been living under a rock, perhaps, or just have not the slightest idea what you are talking about?
iPad AND iPhone are both well capable of running Unreal Engine 3
Epic Games released Infinity Blade, an award-winning iPad&iPhone game on this engine,
http://www.epicgames.com/infinityblade/
and there are a legion of other lesser-quality 3d games on iPad already, including at least one 3D mmorpg Pocket Legends.
the only thing that would permit Spiral Knights from running on iPad/iPhone is because its Java origins, unless the developers can think of something here.
Seeing Unreal Engine on the iDevices is kind of misleading in what can be done on them. It is a case of what can be done when the in a system state is guaranteed (the same as consoles) where you utilize hardware level coding. It's is wonderfully efficient at utilizing an exact hardware setup for the trade off that it can only run on that single setup. Coding through an API like OpenGL is less efficient performance wise but allows for greater compatibility over various hardware.
To get that working it took Epic Games over a year of work to get this as pretty as it is. This is a company with piles of cash since one in every few big titles released earns them royalty money.
You may notice that traditionally the graphical leaders in a closed system are also exclusives to that system.
pretty sure android would run it.

That right there is a link to an old post about making Spiral Knights on 3DS. Sounded like a wonderful idea to me. Should go check it out, I got some pretty long posts in there.
Spiral Knights mobile would kill whatever slim productivity I manage to eke out of my day.
That being said, I enjoy the control scheme of mouse + keyboard too much to force myself to play touchscreen. Try moving and shooting on a touchscreen, or holding a charge while weaving into a fray, or controlling yourself with precision in any of the hectic situations that a Spiral Knight finds themselves in on a day-to-day basis.
I would also want to avoid getting smacked by Gun Puppies because I couldn't see their bullets. I have ham hands.
