...the heat and alchemy changes.
I'm in the process of leveling up my 4* armor to get it to the point where I can upgrade it to 5*. I've been farming the jelly palace quite a bit, and even dropped some CE on a heat amplifier because of how dreadfully slow it is to level up items.
So, I logged on after the update, grabbed my sprite, and went back to it.
Then I found out I can't level it up without some crystals I have none of and have to pay a ridiculous amount of CE for. I'm not going to pay the equivalent of 20kcr just to get my armor ready to be transmuted to 5* which will cost the equivalent of 60kcr just in energy. Suddenly, the gear I prided myself on never paying real money for (outside of elevator passes) cannot be improved unless I spend an amount of CE that basically demands I pay money for it.
All of a sudden, the elevator pass seems like a bargain.
Now I see why a lot of people were whining and threatening to quit (as if anyone cares). Once I saw there was essentially a lock on my gear level, I immediately stopped wanting to play. It's too much grinding, too much work, and broke something that didn't need to be fixed.
I know they're drops, but I'm still rank 6-1 and I don't really like the missions at all. Now my choices are (A) do the missions, (B) buy CE, or (C) stop playing.
I'm torn between A and C. I like this game, but the game is now forcing me to do the part I don't like. That's work. I don't play games to do something I dislike. How about a tradeoff? I'll keep buying monthly elevator passes, you take off that stupid crystal BS. Sounds like a good option to me.
Edit: Please keep discussion and feedback about the release announcement in the discussion thread. Thank you!
Are you talking about fire crystals? How many do you need? I found at least 9 of them (maybe 12) in a single run of Nature of the Beast on Elite difficulty.
Oops, I missed the part where you don't like missions at all. Are you aware that most missions are just rehashing of Clockworks levels? A few are different, and hence interesting. I don't understand how a player can dislike them but still like playing Spiral Knights. Maybe you can explain.
