So to someone who has quit for a long time, is it worth it to come back after the latest update?

What the title says.

How has the game become as a whole? Better or worse?

.

Spiral Knights may have changed many of its mechanics, like heating and crafting, but it is for the better in my opinion. It is possible to get from 0* to 5* without even TOUCHING CE now.

Indeed, it just takes an ungodly amount of grinding, even more then before thou it's balanced by free elevators, in a sense.

I never understood why people complained so much about energy before, it was pretty easy to get by with only 100 mist a day more then enough to get over 150 or 200 ce if you knew where to play.

The game's improved a bit but it's not quite there yet.
You have more options in combat now but it's nothing too crazy. Doesn't fix what was wrong with it.
And you're probably going to have to spend just as much CE as you used to if you want to craft equipment, unless you get REALLY lucky during a run.

Could you describe what you

Could you describe what you found "wrong" exactly?

The reason why I quit personally was because I found that the game was becoming too casual and mainstream.

I am really happy they added the difficulty settings so that's awesome for a person like me. I literally turned off every additional handholding option like the healthbars, weapon charge and the stupid weapon wheel.

Thank god for the options OOO

Well, I came back from a

Well, I came back from a lonnnng break (a year?), I guess it's alright, though the reason I quit was lack of content, so anything was better than nothing. The sprites are a pain in the ass grind fest if you want yours high level, but the lack of run restriction time is refreshing enough.

Stopped playing after the shard bomb patch, really ruined playing the style I enjoyed by replacing them with mediocre weapons. Now that my friends arent turned off by the energy limitation on levels, I find myself playing again.

I came back after a year n a

I came back after a year n a bit of a break, I love the new content and character customisation. The removal of a $ attached to everything from playing to crafting was nice. Though I am positively hating the new heat/forge system. I typically have bad luck with random number generators so if I attempt with anything below 100% chance, I'm doomed to fail. Which... frankly is a bit absurd, the game is fairly grindy as is, adding a delay -and- chance to something as simple as levelling is a pain in the ass.

Same deal as Capt-Chopper,

Same deal as Capt-Chopper, the Shard murdering killed the fun for me as a Bomber. I came back and started a new knight and the only thing I flipping hate is the blasted heating system. It's just so tedious...

My thoughts

Personally, if you have an open mind and are willing to look at the game as something new entirely (since it nearly is by now) then yes, you should spend the time to relearn Spiral Knights.
