Spiral Knights, the methods, and the Decline.
oh yes! very nice synopsis. I appreciate your points and would like to add my pov.
It is much simpler, but I have friends who have spent $80 or more on this game. Friends, If you saw this game on the shelf for $80 you would laugh, scoff, and play a different game.
no offense, but this game does not provide the content that would remotely justify anything above a flat $20 fee.
Sorry, its true. and since that is all i payed (for a measly 3500 ce) and can not not trade my hard earned hard grinded sword and shield to my new main, I don't even see a point.
Time is money, friend!
Anything in a subscription-based mmo that costs time costs money.
Everything you do in WoW costs time (and thus costs money).
Deaths cost in-game money. Acquiring in-game money costs time. Time costs real-life money.
Finding a group takes as much as 20-40 minutes for most people playing the game. That time costs real-life money.
You don't personally have to pay a cent for this game if you don't want to. At a certain point in the progression, yes, real-life money must be spent by someone. How much real-life money, which in turn decides how much crowns, is controlled by Three Rings. They have an interest in finding a good balance between meeting their financial needs and the desires of their playerbase. They will do the best that they can, as their business depends upon it.
The game is still free, just gonna take more time thats all if you don't want to pay. I don't pay I just log in for 1 hr a day. I already made 1000ce and have like 20000cr. (i'm fully equiped in 4*) Its call saving up everyday you play, so you buy energy and then keep doing that till you got loads. Also best to know what your buying as well. so you don't waste ce and cr.
Yes it is annoying, but thats what ppl have to do if they don't want to pay. Just play a hr a day and save up. The game is still free like cause with my 1000 ce I can keep playing for the full day if I want.
So to be honest I'm not fussed with the change. Just means I need to save up more to make wepons and armour thats all. 800 ce is like 40000ce now thats not much you can get that quite easily to be honest thats like 6 days of paying for 1hr to make a 5* which is pretty good for people who don't pay.
either way the game is fun, it is free. So no point in moaning about it :)
Shojo, you do understand just how much easier time you had before these changes, right? Energy costs are 5k CR right now, when I started they were 3500. Anyone wanting to make 4* equips will need to pay at least 350(!!!!) energy more/item. Should I do the math?
So what? What are you afraid of, playing the game more for stuff you want? Are you playing this game for the economy or to beat up gun puppies? I think too many are too interested in the former. To be fair, though, the players of most online games suffer from this.
...
Yes, I'm AFRAID of having to grind for equipments. Indeed, I SHIVER in the night at THE VERY THOUGHT of having to kill Royal Jelly for the 5th time. Not to mention running through arenas I've wiped 20 times already, and stages where the only new thing is where the danger room is placed.
Indeed, I'm very afraid. And the thought that I'll have to do this all over again if I want to have, for example, the other line from the sealed sword set gives me nightmares.
Boredom is a terrifying thing.
...
Wait no, that's stupid.
Let me briefly add that my points are slightly evidenced through the lack of 4/5* trading and basil teleports. The random factor of having to go down a few elevators to try for a recipe was intended. The elevators were supposed to be one of the biggest energy drains (they're not, crafting is-which is why it was increased). With the new changes, players are forced to try randomly for the recipes they need, then pay the energy cost for it. These are not quality of life improvements, they're quality of profit improvements.
