Checking back after over a year. A lot of changes, but how are my current stock of CE and crown affected? Also other Qs.

I mostly decided to check in from an email saying that the energy system had been majorly changed, which I thought for the good.

Then I realized I likely had a lot of energy and crown stuffed in my account. Good thing after checking is that it all seems to be there, but from this update, is my CE relevant for anything now? Also, I happened to convert a large majority of my CE to crown for some reason, so I'm sitting on a lot of that. I'm assuming that's still relevant?

Random question also, before this recent update, what was the typical conversion rate of CE to crown?

Lastly, the UI changes from what I knew from a year before looks really nice, but are there any practical changes since then? Even from last year, it was a check-in after months of not playing, and I think I remember that hoarding the best 5* recipes weren't relevant anymore, and that re-rolls for equipment boosts (now apparently I forgot what those were called) made things like VH charge rate reductions and triple-slots of those things normalish.

Aside from those, anything updated aside from battle pets (I'll have to look into that more later)? Like equipment stat changes, revamps in equipment crafting trees, addition to weapon types, even better trinkets aside from the elites, etc. For some reference, last thing I remember like this was that the brandish 5* lines had multi-xplosions that made them more comparable or even better than the 5* sealed swords. And speaking of the 5*, are the "best" ones for swordsmen still the wolver line with the brandish and sealed series?

Also, a dumb question, but

Also, a dumb question, but where is the shortcut for the game installer located? I did used the java installer and it ran the program, but after closing it once and saying no to it asking to make a desktop icon, I can't find a location for it anywhere on the start menu. Did a file search for "spiral" and "spiral knights" that got nothing for the shortcut or executable, and navigating to the user profile > appdata > locallow > spiral didn't show the usual file I remember using last time that opens up the game loader.

Energy has been converted

Energy has been converted into consumable virtual cookies. This all that I know.

The CE (now just "Energy") price was 9k cr during the 2012 autumn. Then it started dropping very slowly. 8k, 7,5k... and then (before 3 moths), it reached 6,5-7k cr. 2-3 days before the 30 July update, people started buying CE, a lot of CE. The price reached 9-10k cr, there was even 100 CE for 50k cr. After the update all these people realized that Energy is now useless and the price dropped to 6,3-6,6k cr. Then came the current promo and everyone started buying Energy- the price now is 8-8,5k cr.
About the UI: http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/77805. 600 people wasted their time to complain but nothing changed.
Brandishes have more DPS than Sealed swords when fighting with a single enemy BUT SSs completely outdamage brandishes vs. a group of enemies and are more useful in Lockdown. About the Wolver line: if you use ONLY swords, it's a good choice but if you use sword+gun or sword+bomb, take the Chaos set. It has Med CTR and Med damage bonus for all weapons. Those are the best, but people with such gear are now called Clones (check http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/78934). And there are better weapons than Brands and SSs. Like Triglav/Sudaruska.

Informative, thanks. So looks

Informative, thanks. So looks like energy is as in demand as it always was, but that price fluctuation is very large.

Yeah, was always just a swordsman, and was always partial to the brandish line over the heavy swords due to the speed alone, even before they got their multi-hit-charge upgrade. Checking in the damage tables from the wiki doesn't show much difference regarding the typical-used swords, so I see that not much changed there.

On a different note, anyone have advice on where the installed game client's executable or shortcut is located? I seem to only be able to access it through this website on the "Play" tab above rather than just through a folder location on the hard drive.

EDIT: Nevermind on the executable, apparently there's a different file from the tech help forum that has an actual .exe to download that does place a folder in Window's "Program Files", rather than the one I've been starting up from the browser. Would've preferred this download link to exist in the "Play" tab above as well though.

My shortcut

My shortcut location is as follow, so you can try creating a desktop shortcut with this:

Target: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\javaw.exe" -jar getdown-pro.jar .
Start In: C:\Users\Mike\AppData\LocalLow\spiral

The parts in bold you may have to change, the x86 (my computer is 64bit), the java version (latest should be jre7 i believe), and your username

So I suppose the answer you're looking for, the game seems to be located in C:\Users\{your windows username here}\AppData\LocalLow\spiral

The file is getdown-pro.jar
