My thoughts like this.
- Upkeep costs reduced by approximately 80%

Were Guilds having that much trouble with upkeep, I wonder?
So far I could keep up with no trouble, but with this, even if my main income falls flat, I can still finance the upkeep by just doing runs. Wheeee! (I think I said that before. :) )
- Installation costs increased by approximately 20%
- Furnishing prices increased by approximately 10%.
Both very fair, even low. These are permanent items, after all.
(Now if we could only move rooms... ;P )
All guilds have been granted a week of free upkeep and any guild currently in default has been removed from default.

sort of strange to me
I don't really understand why one would want to craft low-class crystals out of high-level ones. Personally I'd have welcomed quite the opposite possibility.

Hate to be the one who cries in the patch notes because my pet peeve didn't get resolved, but I'm a bit disappointed by the lack of sprite skill bugfixes. I understand rooting out the skill misfire/autorepeat issues may be as tricky as the stun bug is, but there are two Ultimates that do almost nothing at the moment, one of which could be fixed by increasing a number.

Cracking 5* crystals into 4*
Cracking 5* crystals into 4* is very welcome, I am both surprised and shocked that this is to be implemented. Did you ever have an idea but decided to never tell anyone because you believe it had 0 chance of happening? This is one of them.
Now... about them 5* alchemy orbs. Sure would be nice to crack them down to 16x 2* orbs...
...Who knows, we might even get that too someday!

Looks like there's more content soon to come, and they just decided to release the files early. Otherwise I don't see the reason for a 300+ MB patch for what amounts to small tweaks. :P
Anyway, got mixed feelings about the changes to upkeep fees. Sure, it means that it'll be less of a pain for guilds to pay up in order to keep their guild halls open, but it also means one major (If not *THE* major) Crown sink of the game is being toned down to an extreme. I'm sure that's what OOO wanted in order for us to want to buy energy, and I can't really blame them.

I understand and like most of the update, except for one thing; the crystals. I can understand the logic behind it, but wouldn't most players who want to level up their stuff want an easier way to get the higher crystals than the lower ones? If this were a 2-way system I would be fine with it, granted you'd probably need more lower crystals to make a smaller number of highers, but again it feels a little pointless.

I'm okay with all of this except one tiny detail...
All of my fire crystals below 3 star are STILL useless. I'd have preferred it if I could craft upwards as well - at least the I'd have a use for the junk crystals.
I'm going to find these crystal recipes... not as useless, but I doubt I'll end up using them. I'm downloading now, so I can see what all the fuss everyone's making is about...
EDIT: Whelp, a quick check on the forums said everything. I'm not entirely fussed about the fragging new screen, to be honest. Those Black Kats however...

LOVE the fire crystal recipes! Now I'll never have to run boring old tier 2 content when I make new gear! 5 for 3 is a great ratio, too! Now, if we could just get the reverse recipes, too... ;)
Guild hall changes are great! I might actually build a guild hall for my guild now that the upkeep won't bleed me dry.
Vitapods dropping more? Hmm. Maybe not so much with elite difficulty? I hate getting multiple vitapod drops, especially from treasure blocks, since that means I *didn't* get something more valuable.

I completed the daily black kat mission on Elite and got the 2swords+shield. But maybe all missions completed before difficulty was added are automatically 1sword+shield? All the non-level missions seem to be 2swords, though, since they wouldn't have a difficulty.
Also completing a mission on elite that was previously 1sword does not seem to change it. But it is possible that is a bug.

I understand how the old
I understand how the old system for the guild upkeep was supposed to work, with the teamplay for the growth of the guild, but it just holded small possibilities for success with small and new guilds. The best our guild could have done was to expand to the 2nd floor of the west wing, and have a total of 6 rooms, 2 rooms on the bottom west wing and 2 rooms on the bottom right wing, and then 2 rooms on the top west wing. Paying 25k a week was already stressful, and having to do this for every week, for nearly eternity (if it wasn't for this update, it'd 25k or more for eternity, for every week, not month, but week), it just couldn't seem possible. Most of us play other games besides Spiral Knights, are busy with real life stuff, and we simply just might not feeling like logging on to the game at certain times. It seemed simple enough, but was quite harder to do than to say.

I feel a bit embarrassed to be the only one to complain about this, but isn't 500 crowns for five 4-star crystals a bit much? You're talking about nearly 5000 crowns just to get a reasonable chance to level a weapon from 9 to 10, and that's not to mention the cost of each of the previous levels (or lower star ratings for that matter, which require yet more crystal backcrafting). Given that I'm already using up high-star crystals which I earned, I really don't see why backcrafting needs to come at such a high loss.
I mean, I'm thrilled they're thinking about this, but I was really hoping for something I could actually use regularly -- this seems like more of an emergency measure. I might as well just run low-tier floors.
Was this to make up for the loss of the guild upkeep sink?

What dark ritual? That book certainly sounds dangerous. Something that dangerous would also be exceedingly rare. The book wasn't mentioned in our update notes but they can still drop. They are a very rare drop, just like they were the last event."

My Guild's upkeep was slashed from 156k/week to a measly 30k/week and it only had a 4F expansion. Was finally able to add a Landing and the other 4F wing.

I read the wrong info somewhere (that it'd take 15 levels after 100 to reach end of Perks) and got far too many Shadow Stars. Fatso stopped eating before I even opened the boxes. I gave the surplus bought Shadow Stars to friends, but am still sitting on bound ones as well as the Power and Divine stuff I don't need.
Yeah, maybe in the future there'll be other Sprites. Until then it's like that Strike Needle Recipe I got from Missions, that, despite being learned before Mission existed, can't be refunded.

Huh? 4* Fire are a lot easier to find than 5*, because you get them on Stratum 5, while 5* are in Stratum 6.
For direct jump to Stratum 6 you only have Missions 9-n (5 Missions of which only one isn't Undead/Fiend), while for Stratum 5 you have the start of T3 in any Gate, as well as Missions 7-n and 8-n (9 various level type Missions plus random Arcade).
Both ways, yeah, that'd be preferable. As it is it changes nothing for me.

Both Crystals and Orbs should
Both Crystals and Orbs should have two-way crafting. The cool thing about making them recipes is that then the cost of upgrading can be greater than the cost of downgrading. This would go a good long way (but nowhere near as far as actually changing the drop tables) towards rectifying the problem where 5* orbs still drop like candy and 4* orbs are extremely rare even for orbs.

There are four floors in stratum 5 and five in 6, plus Radiant crystals start showing up in 22. Then there are the prestige missions, which start in stratum 6 for Vanguards and possibly Champions.
I do the dailies on Elite excluding Compound 42 and, after having crafted and heated three 5* items, have 37 Shining and 1420 Radiant crystals.

We know how to get 4* crystals now because it has been sometime since the update. But when the update was bestowed upon us, not a lot of people knewinformation at that time.
Upkeep reduces, but furniture price increase? :/
May I ask why you're increasing the price of furniture?
