A way to see a weapon's Curse status with the Weapon Wheel turned off

I wasn't all "RAWR I HATE THIS!!!" when the Weapon Wheel graphic was introduced, but I did turn it off when the option was added; it's easy enough to keep track of what weapon I have out, and the thing takes up a bit too much central screen real-estate for my liking. But it was only recently that I discovered the major downside to doing so: without it on, when you're Cursed, you have no idea which individual weapons are still safe to use. (At least not that I can see...someone please correct me if I'm being blind.) You can tell with vials, since they still have the static menu at the bottom of the HUD, but you're out of luck unless you try using a weapon and risk taking some damage you can't afford at the moment. It'd be great to add in some way to differentiate this while having the Weapon Wheel turned off. The most ideal way I can think of is to tie the Curse icon that appears over your head to the weapon you have out: if the weapon's safe to use, then the icon vanishes. Or heck, maybe throw the old static weapon icon back on the HUD when the wheel is turned off. There might be some other cool way of doing it too.

Yes, this needs to happen. I turned off the weapon wheel because it blocks your view of things that are right beside you, which is the most important place to be able to see.
The only reason this isn't a major issue right now is curse is pretty rare. .

Yeah.

Not the first thread on this either, I think.
Plus, it's not just curse, I want the game to show me what weapon I'm holding. No, it doesn't always do that.
The old way had that icon with your current weapon at the bottom, I'd very much like that back, please.

A game should NEVER hide vital information. The curse eye above your head should be indicative of what's cursed. But it isn't. It should pulse or flash while your current weapon is cursed, and be a dim, flat color when your current weapon ISN'T cursed. But that'd be good game design, pssh.

I have a better idea, just replace the entire texture map with like...pure glowing purple, like the color of curse. That'll make it clear.
