"Will there be tools developed for player use?

This has been discussed, however it is a significant task to make the tools both easy to use without a lot of training, and having to build up the extensive documentation necessary to expose it to a general audience. More than likely we'd head in the direction of Guild Hall editing, where we expose the tools within the game, so it has a familiar and easy use interface."

So, it's been close to a year now, do you think it'll ever happen?

maybe...

the levels seems to be simple 1x1 blocks. I cant see how a map editor with 1x1 blocks can be confusing or challenging. Maybe issues with clipping but maps seem pretty straight forward.
They're just lazy.

I certainly hope so.

Lately I've been getting ideas about just simply different kinds of segments to be used in random level glueing. I seem to have been hit with a creativity particle recently, need to use that on something.

I'd like it to be like Guild Hall editing. That might be not that hard to do considering what's already in the game. (Monstere spawning triggers could be confusing for some people even with a simple way to place them, I guess.)
But the main problem could be implementing a way to test the levels. Without staff having to review every last one and then putting the usable ones on a test server (I estimate at least 80% of levels created by people would be unusuable for one reason or another). Even if only 1000 people try, it'd still leave a ton of slush to wade through.

I'd like that in a special Guild Hall room, or a new building in Garrison. Byeable with real money, or preferably with Energy or Crowns, a player could reserve a Testing Ground, where anyone can go in and play it. (That'd be one possible way to curb the random new player creating a level with 1 treasure box and nothing else. Though another way could be enforcing minimum and maximum number of solids, monsters, breakables,...)

You could get a theoretical list of loot once you're done testting the level, showing what you'd have gained if it were a proper Clockwork level.
Following that could be a list to rate, with things like difficulty, fun, too bare/too stuffed, lenght (size),...

Canine-Vladimir, I suggest you don't project your own thoughts into others. Obviously you can't think of difficulties, that doesn't mean they're not there. Why don't you go to a corner, hang your head in shame, and at least try to apply some consideration, instead of trying to troll and insult in such a lazy way?

I don't even care about loot. At first I thought a loot incentive was necessary for a level creation tool to work, but after watching some videos of SK in 2011, and remembering how thrilled I was just to experience new epic fights in the Shadow Lairs and Unknown Passage, just having the ability to experience new encounters created by the users would be good enough. Just that thrill of exploring new levels is great.

Everything is harder than it seems when programming. I remember in one of the Clockwork Confidentials, the guy talked about how the guild storage system turned out to be a lot more problematic than you'd think.

You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

Well, I think loot total is determined before hand. So, let's say that you can always get 100 crowns per snippet of a level. No matter how many enemies or boxes I put in it, I will never ever get 3k crowns. Maybe 50 crowns, maybe 150 crowns, but the total crowns when you actually play the level is random. This way, a few boxes won't help you.

I also think that the community should sift through ideas. Assuming every room created is limited with various restraints (not too many enemies or boxes, must be big enough but not too big, etc.), then it could get chosen. When trying community rooms, a various, random group of levels would get chosen, and then each would be rated from 0 to 5 stars, both in how fun and how hard. Levels could also be reported for various things. (Yes, words could be spelled with elements, so that's a problem.) The 100 or so highest rated ones would get judged by the GMs/devs, and then the good ones would go in the game...silently that is. That takes the surprise away if they say "rooms so-and-so have been added!"

Instead of using crowns, why not create a currency. Something along the lines of "digital points" within a "digitally constructed" environment to practice.

So instead of enemies or treasure boxes dropping Crowns, we'd receive digital currency that could be spent on rewards.

Something like:

7,000 Digital Points - 3,000 Crowns
14,000 Digital Points - 2* Item (Random and Bound)
45,000 Digital Points - 3* Item (Random and Bound)
50,000 Digital Points - 1UV Ticket (Bound)
168,000 - 2UV Ticket (Bound)
490,000 - 3UV Ticket (Bound)

Also, add a modifier based on the amount of Treasure Boxes and how long the level is and what type of enemies they are:

Boxes cause a -4% Modifier for every box after 4 placed together within a set range.
Same enemy type (Weak, Brute, etc) throughout the level causes a -0.5% Modifier for every 3 enemies in place together. (Minis don't count)
Very Short levels cause a -25% Modifier in place
Short cause -15% Modifier in place
Normal cause no alterations in place
Long cause +5% Modifier in place
Very Long cause +10% Modifier in place
