I'm a bit older than your typical Spiral Knight, having turned 30 not too long ago. I actually don't play a lot of MMOs--it's pretty much this and a more thought-based RPG called Kingdom of Loathing. Been playing games my whole life, though, particularly the more retro ones. I have a lot of patience for struggle and failure that seems missing in today's generation...
I've been Vanguard rank for quite a while, but I also haven't played in several months as I had some real-life business to take care of--and wow, so much has changed. Now I have quite a bit of free time before I start thinking about grad school again. My overall in-game goal is to make several 5* armors and a few more weapons to suit different occasions, culminating with an Almirian Crusader set I got a very special set of Fire Max Cobalt Helm/Armor and Summer Crown for whenever that happens. I guess it's great adventuring whenever you want, but crafting has gotten a bit more expensive with these rarities, hasn't it...? Also having fun with this new kitty familiar thing (I'm all about the defense and hearts, after all). I play using a hybrid configuration, with both WASD and left mouse for movement, alternating on the fly to suit the weapon and occasion (I've had plenty of practice at it, though I'm not totally adjusted to all the new moves and sprite skills you can do now). My personal best accomplishment is doing Floor 27 of Firestorm Citadel with three dead weights, without dying (questionable whether I could still do that). I also took the time to earn a few trinkets... My loadout and playing style favors both slow and medium-speed swords, but I'm pretty good with Silversix and don't fail with Blitz Needle too hard. My preferred bombs are Electron Vortex and Nitronome.
I like to talk about just about anything. Personally, I'm oriented more toward science and basic news talk, though I won't be afraid to reply to a controversial topic if it gets brought up. Just typing is fine, but I can also set up Steam chat or another voice chat if your guild prefers that. I'm not interested in fighting other guilds, and Lockdown doesn't interest me at all. If I'm in the right mood, though, I'll buy a bunch of Krogmo boosters and do a super-marathon of that Bomberman game. Otherwise, I pace between missions and random Arcade runs. Even before the elevator change, I tried not to do only Firestorm Citadel. What's the point of doing well at a game if the game to you is effectively just one or a handful of missions? I like to see everything the Clockworks has to offer. Heck, I'm even curious what fan theories exist about what's going on around here.
