No originality in this game... All I see is red, orange, ash, white, black and yellow. Is this because of their slight increase in attack? NAH! OOO, why you do this? Want the truth?? People want wolver armor cuz it looks cool. Seriously, it does. But when I see it too much, I get sick. I saw a Iron Maiden person. Well, APPLAUD HIM! Another truth: Everybody's hormones are running and everyone just wants wolf ears on their head that makes them look anthro. Stop it, stop it. No excuses, some people just does that. Seriously, more separation please! Want attack bonuses? Seriously guys. This is one of the noobest ways to get attack bonuses. I know I'm gonna get a lot of hates from this, SINCE THE MAJORITY OF THE FORUM PEOPLE HAVE WOLVER ARMOR! Yes, you and you and you and you and you! I'm not just hating on this armor just because I don't have a set! I'm hating because of these reasons! Where did all the arcane salamander sets go? All the deadly virulisk sets? All the grey feather cloaks and cowls? Nowhere. Once in a while I see one and now.....well. GUYS! WAKE UP AND SEE DIVERSITY! (And expecting a lot of hate comments from this.)
I hate seeing Wolver Armor...
I wore full valkyrie or my recon ranger outfit, and no one ever priased me for been original... I feel sad now. I don't have a single piece of wolver gear in my arsenal coz of how mainstream they are. However I may wanna have a solver coat for some freeze piercing protection. Wolver lines are good, but they are definately overrated.
Actually, imo, wolver does look kinda cool, giving that ferocious look that glares into your soul, waiting to hunt you down, nomnomnomnom... or maybe I'm a critter lover and is just bias towards critter looks. Who doesn't want triangular furry ears to sprout from the top of your head? It gives that type of fur coat look, rather than the rest which are more metal based, solid curves or just leathery.
I tried adding vertical vents to my helmet, yeah, doesn't give the same furry critter look.
I'm just rather sad that I only ever really see wolvers and shades of gray. I love when knights wear vibrant, friendly colors, and the closest I usually get is a chaos set with prismatic accessories. I love what Whimsicality has done with their dragon scale mail and crown of the fallen - it's an example of a nice looking set with gray in its palette. Heck, Mawashimono's fashion thread is full of vibrant and dull outfits alike!
I feel if players tried to specialize in items much like how the hall of heroes knights do, we would have much more balance to the game, and a more diverse armor appearance too! Shame most knights favor offense over defense, as defense armors look amazing.
My set is glowing blue mixed with grey, using Arcane Salamander and a Mantle of Sight. It looks lively without being obnoxious.
As for the whole "SK is overrun by furries" silliness, I'm pretty sure it's because people like the sword bonus, then pick Vog over the other options because it gives defenses perfect for FSC- and because fire defense is just so nice to have. The appearance is just more incentive, but probably not the most prominent one.
Guilty.....I like how my snarby looks with twilight aura.
Slight increase? What am I reading?
By the way, if you have a problem with Wolf ears, STOP INSPECTING PEOPLE! Most people have their wolver hidden away behind a costume, its your own fault if you're looking at it (PvP aside, but I don't think this is about PvP).
I wear an Ash Tail coat with my Kat Eye Mask. Can't stop me.
"(And expecting a lot of hate comments from this.)"
You're funny.
Vertical vents, mohawks, toupees. The three things you should never put on a Wolver Cap. And people do so anyway. Said people are crimes against humanity.
At least I can say to myself... "Damn. I look good."
The only thing wolver related I have is my wolver tail.
Costume wise, I'm rockin a merc helm (not demo) with skelly suit(2*), military canteen, prism wolver tail, and a military vitakit.
As for armor...Am I the only one who still uses shadowsun/nameless?
This....turned out right.
@Mushta-Forum: Ah, its just the Heavenly Iron Set. In SK Lore, the angel that wore that is called the Iron Maiden.
@Midnight-Dj: They are pretty overrated. No diversity. Cover your skolver with a costume.
@Curious-Mewkat: This is one of the anthro-furries fan.
@Fangel: You have my full support
@Mounthagane: I wear chaos too!
@Draycos: Yes yes yes. Arcane Salamander Set. I knew Vokster wasn't the only one that wore that!
@Xxdragneel: Yes I am. But not kidding. Some people really hate me.
@Whimsicality: Yes you do. You look wonderful.
OH YES, for those of you furry-anthro loving people, there is many many many alternatives. Why not the Salamander Sets? They look much more anthro than the wolver line. Wolver line looks robotic, while the other set actually doesn't display any bolts or locks in them! Seriously guys, vertical vents. Vertical vertical vertical vents. Stick em on an armor and you're set. (Then you have to find a way to buy a Prismatic Wolver Tail. -_-)
This is the only successful thread I've only had.
Ironic how its a hate thread.
"Interesting threads please." -Annilaton
/me shrug
*scratches head* I don't really understand why it's "the noobiest way to get attack bonuses" though, you could easily say that about any armor set with the stats you desire. Wanting shock and fire on Gray Feather is the noobiest way to want those resistances, wanting gun damage on Shadowsun is the noobiest way to want gun damage....and so on. It's just a sword oriented user getting the best for their class, nothing wrong with that.
Anyway, It looks pretty cool, that's why it ends up overused, side being a solid armor set line. Now I don't care too much about it as a costume, I personally rock Volcanic Demo Helm and Blazebreaker Armor. Some people can actually make Skolver coat (picked Skolver as an example cause nearly everyone has seen people accessorize this) look really well with something like, a Magic Hood, a friend of mine uses that and it looks really pretty. The Skolver cap just looks pretty awful when you put it on anything else unless you put on a candy or holly scarf to over up the bottom part of it to use on something else divine as with all the other line caps, except they can't use that scarf. Thus, you have people wearing full Ash, Vog, ect. Creative? No, but it makes sense somewhat when you like wolves but can't exactly move the helmet to other armors cause they usually look poor.
As for the weird accessories they put on it, I can't help but cry a little when someone puts vertical vents and mohawks of any type on them. Some toupees actually look really nice on wolver helms, like shadow Toupee on Snarbolax, I personally use that. They just have to match the theme perfectly to look good.
Less wolvers would be nice though, it really isn't hard to grab a different costume, accessorizing it is the real challenge.
Not hating, just saying people have different opinions. Anthro or not, I like my critters.
I have a reptilian set too, who says we don't have alternatives :P at least, because wolver helms cover up your eyes, so now I can't display my sad eyes. D: < SAD FACE
I only really hate Wolver Caps and the details around the collar of the coat.
Ash Tail Coat in particular is my favorite and it works so nice with so many things, especially if you're like me with a military-green personal color. My own look is a Heavenly Iron Helm with an Ash Tail coat. On special events, I pull out my Dread Skelly Helm. You can also throw on a Fused Demo Helm, or an Elemental Hood, or even a green Chapeau if you got one.
Some people want to be as effective as possible in battle.
Some people will forgo that for style.
Style or function. take your pick.
Can't blame lots of people for going "FUNCTION!" especially with all the spikes drinking sparks like they're water, hiss.
If you want to stand out, go for it. And I've seen several partial wolver sets pulled off really well, including ones that use the winterfest coat.
I used to use arcane, but since I got mercurial my focus has been to max msi and do -every- stage with mercurial ___ and omega shell.
Now I just use arcane for Recon LD, hiss.
You can have all the Bonuses you want.
There are Costume Armours to wear over the top, so the bonus point is over-ruled.
Then again, Ive never heard anyone complain about originality In-game,
or comment for people being original themselves.
Ive been roaming with my Spiral Demo Helm (with the Trims), and Radiant Silvermail.
Not a word from anyone.
Whiny hipsters...whiny hipsters everywhere
the wolver set is the start of the line to getting snarby gear. alot of people want snarb gear. hence, you will see alot of wolver and ashtail stuff.
Wolver is the biggest thing to mainstream you can get in SK, chaos/magic set tried, but still can't match up with wolver.
I dunno if I'm the only one who HATES the look of a full wolver set, it looks more dorky than cool. I like, however, comboing it with matching styles, like skolver cap and heavenly gaurdian armor, or vog cub cap and volcanic plate mail. The only reason I got skolver was for PvP, and the only reason I got vog was because back in the day when you had mist and I had no time, I'd just craft 2 2* pieces, one of them was a wolver cap with fire med, hence the transformation into vog.
I have no interest right now in owning a snarbolax set, as I find the divine set has more diversity, plus a free halo! I'll probably end up owning one in the end for sheer completion, however, my sister LOVES hers, mostly because her friend gave her like...4 free accessories.
@Shadowstarkirby: Accessorizing? Easy. Put dah tail, put dah wings, put dah halo. All done.
@Curious-Mewkat: Curious. I support alternatives very very much.
@Traevelliath: True. The head needs to be off. The fur coat can always make you look boss.
@Shien-Ryu: He understands. Bravo and kudos. Hiss to you too.
@Edolas: Well, because Radiant Silvermail is unique. Of course no one is going to complain its too mainstream.
@Magnum-Frost: Are you calling us whiny? D:<
@Iron-Dragon-Guild: True...but...seriously. Did you read what I typed up?
@Gianor: Agreed. The helm especially. Slits downward for eyes! How does the knight peek through anyway? Slit down eyes does look dorky. It's just all the anthro lovers these days, myself included. (But I really don't like wolver armor as an excuse.) People just wear these armor to express their secret desires.
Bring IT ON!
I like Wolver. It goes with a lot of things. But eventually, because it covers all 4 Damage Types and provides a Sword bonus it's all I used until eventually I got sick of looking at it. So I cover it up with costumes.
Unless I'm equipping my Beast-killing loadout then the costume is a 2* Wolver set kek
@Misty-Wellington: Well, I got sick too....Now, its costume time.
Now expecting haters...thank you.
Also, SURFBOARD WAVE!
I'm a demon-Seerus guy (Perfect Seerus Mask + Vog coat).
The only whole Wolver sets i have is Skolver, and Snarbolax (No Vog Helm).
@Fangel
Azure Guardian set is, and always will be my first defensive and first smexy-looking outfit, Followed by Dread Skelly, and 2* Jelly (looking for a pris dapper combo and toupee on that). Amen.
To be fair, there isn't much to put on your back at the moment anyway besides heavily out putted wings and tails. Vitakits look weird on the coats. Sideblades I think are the only alternative.
Actually, I don't understand the hate of wolver line in particular. Yes, it's overused and it's tiresome to see, but that doesn't mean it's ugly, I mean, how can you hate the coats? They're so flexible to use with so many helmets and they're actually one of the better looking armor pieces. I feel the hate from this thread particularly comes from it just being mainstream. If you get tired of it being seen...well not much that can be done if someone elses like it. Those who use it can just cover it up.
They are everywhere, there are too many, and I am rather sick of it. It's why I love my Ironmight Plate a lot. It makes me feel special even if no one acknowledges I'm using it. Because I know that when I walk to the AH wearing my Plate Mail surrounded by 7 Skolvers, I will be the first one people notice.
I really don't mind seeing a furry or two every now and a then. But it's just that so many have to be wolvers. Personally when I feel like being a furry I prefer using a full Deadly Virulisk set or a 4* Salamander suit along with a Dragon Scale Helm. They match perfectly and look amazing together.
But putting wolvers aside, I am commonly freaked out by one thing: SANICS! SANICS EVERYWHERE!!! And the infection is spreading fast! Too fast! Tis' perhaps at the speed of sound! Earlier today I saw 5 of them spinning in an organized line in front of the Auction House shooting their Sanicness in all directions, more and more people just kept joining them. I had to escape quickly before I was hit too!
Everyone else just wants wolver armor because that's the closest they can get to being anthro, but too much anthro makes you un-unique.
I don't really like Wolver gear either.
Divine Set with my Seraphynx makes me feel so... Divine...
I have a vog (for the bonuses) though i have a costume over it, your forum made me think how mainstream wolver lines are. i`m asking for diffrent armor that can somewhat give the same bonuses as vog. (Please and thank you)
I don't wear a full wolver set. In fact, I don't always wear wolver gear or costumes. I usually wear my recruit helmet as a costume and whatever I have as armor or my recruit jacket, to show my identity as not another wolver. Although normally I go around haven in recruit helm and ash tail coat, but that's only because I wear a jacket all the time irl.
I blame OOO for making the Vog set the only set that goes with Volcanic accessories that doesn't have hands the size of your entire head.
Vog Coat + Volcanic Dragon Wings + Hallow Scale Helm ftw :D rawr, I dragon.
:3
This is why I mostly wear a Azure Guardian Armor with Frosty Bomb Bandolier and a Wyvern Scale Helm with Regal Game Face my main go to costume.
I also try other costume setups too but I like my main setup too much. XD
To be seerus/serious there are too much people wearing full wolver lines as costumes mostly Skolver set. Try combining other armors and helms as costumes and find the best accessory's that is right for you, wolver lines is not the only sets in the game. >_<
I used to wear my 0* Flak Jacket and Sallet helm as costume, just to emphasize my newbieness. =D
But then I replaced the helm with a Spookat Mask. Does it still count as Wolver-looking? ;)
@OP
You wanna go punk? DO YOU WANNA GO? Too late! I'm bringing the fury!
THE WOLVER LINE IS... just good... No reasons... It's just good.
I see your issue, OP. I find most Havens boring because so many people have Wolver stuff as costumes. The only Wolver thing I used as a costume was a Dusker Coat with a Mewkat, Heavy Dragon Wings and a Love Aura, with a Mad Bomber Mask with Heavy Mecha Wings, Glasses and a Candy Scarf. I rarely use that now because I got tired of Wolver stuff :I
Right now, though, I have a bunch of costumes I like to use: Perfect Mask of Seerus + Almirian Armour with Haunted Aura; Arcane Salamander set with Fancy Long Feather, Dusky Valk Wings and Canteen and Haunted Aura; Grey Feather Mantle with that Mad Bomber Mask I mentioned earlier or with a Humbug Hat; Ignition armour with Forever Love Puppy Mask (Bonus points for Sad Love Puppy?); Chaos Set is pretty nice by itself too (yes, I put Vents on the helm. But I am a furry, so deal with it! :p I'm even planning on getting a Wolver Tail for it when I have the patience to grind the CE); Chaos Cloak with the Authentic Spookat Mask; Fencing Jacket with the Prismatic Frosted Helm; Mercurial Demo Suit with Heavy Stranger Hat; Heavenly Guardian Armour with Valkirian Helm; Blazebreak Armour with Humbug Hat or Shogun Helm (I admit, the Shogun helm one looks a bit silly xD)...
I've also noticed that the Angelic Raiment looks rather nice with the Fractured Mask of Seerus and even with the Kat Eye Mask (The 4 star Kat helm that gives ASI Low for guns).
There's tons of other combos to make with all kinds of gear. Sure, I listed mostly 5 star stuff but there's lots of cheaper options (By that I mean costumes with 0 to 3 star stuff). Most people are just too lazy to play around with that, or just don't care about how they look :p
Yes, I spent time getting those pics to show people that they can make decent costumes that don't need to be just Wolver lines!
@Xtweeterx: There we go. Another alternative. :D
@Shadowstarkirby: They can cover it up, but nooooo, its perty and pretty and furry and people use it. There are others ways to be a furry. :P
@Bamzalot: See? There we go? Fashion Thread appreciation activated! XP
@Mcchineseninja: Another example! Trying to look divine does not require skolver.
@Soul-Of-Blades: Go and suggest in the suggestions area for a reskin of the Vog, or cover your armor up.
@Sonosuke: mmmh, still mainstream, but unique in your way. Still nice.
@Klipik-Forum: Just don't make it too obvious
@Chaolin-The-Chao: The smart One has come! o.O
@The-Vindicar: No, slight features, but I notice some main differences. See? Anthro and furry, without wolver.
@Artistbma: BRING IT ON, MY POWER LEVEL IS OVER 9000!!!!!!
@Aplauses: *facepalm
@Arilys: You are one of the best support my thread ever got. Thank you very very very much. I like your furry style!
BRING ON THE SURFBOARD WAVE!!!!!
(Soon to reach the second page. I'm so happy. But I think this is turning into the "furry appreciation thread", but I DON'T CARE! Keep up with your styles! As long it's not mainstream!)
Three of the first Threads are Annilation's threads.
LD could really use a way to display costumes while still revealing to an attacker whether they are being resisted somewhat, mostly, or not at all by their attack type. Either sound effects or a type of flash used with a particularly successful attack type would be sufficient to let the most enduring game mode for super-veterans use wolver-types underneath without shame.
WHY HAS OOO NOT FIGURED OUT A WAY TO SHOW COSTUMES FAIRLY IN PVP? It only makes sense, what with them pushing cosmetics as a revenue-enhancer.
Wolver coats look good. Wolver caps are probably the worst looking hats in the game, except for the Snarbolax Cap.
If I was a swordsman, I would probably use a Stranger Hat or a Gunslinger Hat with my coat (I was called a "p.mp*" with the latter and "mushroom" with the former, for the record.).
*: Not sure if this word is allowed.
@maharito I think OOO should allow costumes in t1 Lockdown. There isn't much mentionable variety in armor down there, and the meta is either fencing jacket or breaker armor and t1 hammers or normal weapons. Costumes should be allowed because not knowing their defensive/offensive bonuses is not game breaking in t1.
Yellow, Red, Grey, White and black surely make the game colorful and they come with dmg bonus, very nice indeed.
But I do agree that people are too obsess with wolver lines.
I hate everyone when they IGNORE THE THEME , die and BEG FOR SPARKS AS THEY CLAM THEY HAVE NONE .
Seriously wear wolver in Compound 42 and with no decent skill, why are ya here then... go home and grab scale armor boys
I have vog and that's about it. Why? Because when I was starting out in this game, wolver seemed the most logical. I kept it because it's the only elemental set I have as of yet. But I don't use it as a costume. I have two costumes that I made from hallow and frosty style armors, and I gotta admit, I look goooood. Also, I am gettting a shadow set. And while I could go and use the snarby set for shadow protection, I wanted to use something else, and went with (brace yourselfs) Skelly armor. I know that that set has almost nothing going for it, except for resistance to poison, freeze resist(which I heard isn't even worth it) and more shadow defense. But I am sticking with my choice, and that's that.
@Hero-Of-Cheese
I think the point isn't about people wearing Wolver stuff to fight. That -is- the logical thing to do when you're starting out because most people focus on swords during the first months of playing the game (At least it was before the Chaos set got rebuffed to universal Med Damage and CTR). What's annoying about it is that people end up using the wolver sets as costumes too so the Havens get full of Wolvers, Duskers, Ash Tails, Vogs, Skolvers and Snarbolaxes and that ends up making others "sick" of seeing those armours after a time.
It's not even that hard or expensive to get some armours for costumes if you're running around with 5 star stuff: the Breaker sets are cheap to craft, especially if you save up the orbs from doing the T1 and T2 missions, you get the Fencing Jacket as a mission reward and then can combine it with a Fractured Mask of Seerus or with a Prismatic Frosted Helm, heck, you can even go and make costumes out of Hallow or Frosty stuff, which is super easy to get during the Punkin King and Winterfest events and are (mostly) rather cheap during the rest of the year...
Given, I do enjoy being the only one wearing a Grey Feather Mantle and a Humbug hat in a super crowded Haven... :p
@Eric-Rokai: You know it is time to stop posting when...you are trying to stop Annilaton from posting hate threads about wolver armor.
@Maharito: Maybe....OOO should make so that even with costumes, under their names it should show which defensiveness they have in very very small print....NO NO NO THATS A BAD IDEA
@Bluencool: Yea...I like stranger hats, especially ones with snipes....
@Parasthesia: True, but....
@Sonofgunz: Agreed.
@Hero-Of-Cheese: Well, we are talking costume-ly and defensively.....
@Arilys: Grey Feather Mantle. HOORAY!
Everybody's hormones are running and everyone just wants wolf ears on their head that makes them look anthro
No wai. Everyone knows wearing tailed helm with the Culet/Draped (Or to a lesser extent, any of the Angelic Raiment reskins) is the hawtest thing eva. People are just too scared to show their lolicon side :P
I personally wear HIA with a Fractured (to cover the shock weakness) but I have a cobalt helm as costume.
When Three Rings finally decides to allow top slots on the Cobalt Helm
I'll stick a halo on it too.(NUDGE NUDGE)
