Striker bomber: I know of three. Zeddy, because he has a CTR High DBB. Ezho because he's your typical pay to win player. Myself, because I rolled a CTR VH VV. Zeddy isn't a frequent LD player and the latter two aren't dedicated bombers.

Striker swordmaster: If you mean people that only use swords, then this going to be somewhat hard. I'd like to mention Prophe, Plebbyy, Old Solimando, Forestmacedonia, Levitch, Tsujido, Championne as the best sword-focusing players I've played with.
Striker gunner: There is few gunners on the battlefield, but Pytun, Dutch-Oven, Mhmok, Markone, Comrad-Conrad, Sir-Pulse, Msaad, Blueflood. To be honest, I don't find gunning hard if you have somewhat good latency and some asi on your guns, it's not THAT hard to master it.
Striker bomber: Few people play that, but I am pretty sure Meida was a good striker bomber with RSS back in the day.
Recon swordmaster: Saruyop, Achillet, Quiknine, Reto-Da-Lisa

I don't think Pepe was a recon, though. Maybe my memory betrays me. Regardless, I have no ability to judge the skill of old AD farts because it was so long ago and I had much less understanding of LD back then. I do remember beating Pepe 1v1 at one point, though. I was proud.

reason you don't see many pure gunners in these lists is because people realised that swords do WTF amounts of damage and went swords or hybrid.

75% of the so-called 'swordmasters' here use guns just as much as swords. I'm only labeling people who actually use one weapon type.
Striker swordmaster: Skybrandon, Sciasz. Sky is the second-best player I've ever seen play besides the "Hybrid" listed below. I remember Sciasz doing better then everyone else in tough gvg while in proto.
Striker gunner: Thisnameisinuse, Ezho (honorable mention: Bigfootm, he got 30k pure gunning with no UVs.) Name is the best valiance gunner I've ever seen, literally getting hit about once a minute (while using no heart-pendants and Justifier), while Ezho is undoubtedly king of accuracy with alchemers (he averaged 18k GUNNING.)
Striker bomber: Ezho, though if everyone was granted CTR VH bombs I doubt he'd retain it.
Recon swordmaster: I'm a little foggy on this one, but Xairathan was definitely a great recon.
Recon gunner: Seiran, Rari. This one is insanely easy as Seiran can control a game with his high-accuracy/high-frequency shots (also no UVS.) Rari in her prime was insanely annoying.
Recon bomber: Janica, though there are very few in this category.
Guardian swordmaster: Badworm. This one is easy if you've seen him play, though I fear most of you haven't. He knew when to shield, when to strike, when to use two swings with BTB, when to use one. He constantly outdamaged and outcapped strikers as a guard, one of the few people I have seen do so.
Guardian gunner: Dutch-Oven, though the circumstances are most likely the same as Ezho/Janica.
Guardian bomber: Huntr. This guy could hold a point for 3 minutes solo while getting spammed by 5 people with guns.
Hybrid:
Thrillhaus, Ezho. Without Thrill, Lockdown would be amazingly different today. He created the hybrid, and in my opinion, is the best Lockdown player of all-time. Ezho is the best brandish user I've ever seen, while being amazing with the valiance as well.

Can we also separate players by height? I don't think Extra Short knights should be in the same category as Extra Tall.
tbh if we were to consider anyone to be the best it would be the guys playing with extremely severe disadvantages which would render everyone listed on this thread as an average player able to accomplish average feats.
We'd disregard anyone that uses AT, has a significant UV advantage, a delay lower than 300ms, and relies primarily on the 'crutch' weapons.
@Aus-Lagger Yeah, your claim makes no sense at all. Let's consider, for example, professional sports. The best athletes in the world have access to top notch training facilities, training staff, and anything and everything that will give them a chance of performing better, within the given limits of the sport. By giving a player that shows potential access to higher end amenities and equipment not available to everybody, he or she is able to utilize said goods to perform to his or her fullest extent, and outshine those that did not make the cut. Giving an average person access to the same luxuries higher end players can afford doesn't necessarily mean they'll be put on equal level. Some people just aren't cut to play the game, sometimes because they don't possess the skill, other times because of situations outside of their control.
Now, to put this in to Lockdown terms. Players that are considered good or the best in their respective fields aren't mentioned because they have god tier connection or god tier UV's (although they DEFINITELY help). They're mentioned because they have skill, good game knowledge, and the ability to assess and adapt to different situations. If a player with 300+ ping and no UV's were suddenly moved to the US East Coast and given VH/Maxes, it doesn't guarantee that they'll become a god tier player. I've seen players with better ping than me, and UV's to match that can't compete because they don't have the skill or game knowledge.
In short, your demands that players that possess these advantages be put on the same level as those that are disadvantaged are childish and shortsighted. If you can't keep up with low ping players, be the best of the high ping players instead of whining about latency.

Ok, but Siriusly, yeah Terty sucks. He brags about his skill, and and even I as a noob, can beat him easily all day every day. He claims to have hit 30k once, but actually he is just an average player that gets 11k ONE TIME and calls himself a boss.
And what about people who don't have UVs? They don't get any love... Ezho has a lotta UVs. Same with many Jemps, Twenty-Ones and other pros. What about pros without UVs? (looking to get mentioned but it never happens.)
There are no "pros" without UVs. It might as well just be an ASI medium and a normal low but they're still UVs. Every player who wants to get serious about LD gets them after tryhard pendants and desired gear to improve their performance to be able to compete with "pros" who have UVs.
Essentially what Krakob said. Though to be fair, with the right application of UVs to different armor sets, it's possible to open up a few new avenues for killing stuff that you normally wouldn't be able to do with a vanilla loadout.
I feel like using the argument about non-UV players to determine actual "skill", if you can even call it that, is more indicative of someone having too linear a mindset about LD more than anything else. Same goes for people who use only swords, and expect everyone else to use only swords.
Lastly, if you're looking to get mentioned for anything, focus less on that and more on just playing however you're comfortable with. If you're good at it, eventually people will notice.
Funny enough, people assumed I had an ASI high BTB when in fact I had asi reduction low on account of the recon schtick. It's all about the shield cancel folks.
Only fancy "UV" I have are 4* heart trinkets and a fire high on my skolver cap (assuming I'm wearing it at the time).

We're cluttering this thread with lag and UV johns. It's unfortunate that people from different regions can't compete with each other (dur, true for every online action game), but it's just one you'll have to accept (will it make you feel any better if this was renamed to Best NA LD players?). If this were a true competition, it wouldn't be an all-inclusive one.

Also, in the spirit of competition, using handicaps (avoiding efficient weapons) or on the opposite side, having good UVs don't necessarily make you the better competitor. If I can deal 10k damage with Wild Hunting Blade (and I have) as my primary weapon, that doesn't make me the best sword recon - that just makes me a hipster showoff. If you're playing to win, you don't make a choice to use a less efficient option unless it has an added benefit. And even then, damage numbers (especially for recon/guardian) depends on your teammates as well as your opponents: if you have faster teammates, they'll deal damage before you. It just boils down to how effective you are when you do run into people.
@latency: I've had strange moments when my connection would sit at 1-2 bars (and I can say I would not play LD seriously if I had that all the time), but that didn't stop me from predict-slashing at the air and seeing damage and a kill 2 seconds later. Also doesn't get in the way of working well with teammates to bomb or defend. Does that suddenly make me worse than all the other low-latency players when my connection goes back up to 4 bars? No. Predicting people goes beyond just latency. It's an unfortunate sideeffect of having an international server that people outside the server region that people with worse connections have to deal with latency for longer/severe effects.

I played some random lockdown recently and noticed a lot more people have gotten pretty damn good at multi-gun hybrid. Makes me want to get back into things. Too bad "competitive" lockdown is still a pay-to-win joke. Oh well, back to making fat stacks in Awesomenauts, and by fat stacks I mean enough for two meals at McDonald's.
What do people define as the Thrillhaus kind of hybrid? Chaos or BKC + a gun, at least two guns, or what?
