Way before BKC/chaos buff most people only brought Polaris as their gun because you couldn't get gun damage bonuses alongside max sword damage from Skolver (unless you gave up heart pendants). The only player who used a gun effectively with swords was Namewithnumbers who used an AP to make approaching with FF safer. I'm pretty sure the reason most players didn't equip all 4 slots with more than 1 gun was because the default controls for weapon switching make switching between more than 3 weapons cumbersome. I had all 4 slots bound to individual buttons, which allowed me to shield-cancel switch between multiple guns and swords with different properties to maintain a juggle at varied ranges. Individual weapon binding was something I encouraged while my guild Aequitas was active, and many of our alumni have helped popularize the style.

Essentially the same reason I went with a controller instead of mapping out buttons for every weapon. This way I only have to hit one of the trigger buttons on my 360 controller to switch to something that might be better for the situation. It was also the reason I went with Guardian initially, because if you mess up a weapon cancel, you at least have a shield to cushion it. Nowadays I think if you handed me a keyboard and mouse and said play a game of anything in SK I'd probably just set it down and go get a drink, simply because it feels so clunky using keyboard/mouse.
But yeah, prior to Chaos buff, really the only "gunners" were Namewithnumbers, Blueflood and one or two others that are escaping me at the moment. It never really dawned on people to use more than one weapon for anything and it ended up being incredibly linear until the BKC/Chaos update, which is when you started seeing sets that utilized more than one type of weapon to get the job done.

Well, not that it matters really, but I joined the whole Lockdown thing when I came back from my first months-long hiatus. As far as forums go, I found myself pushing for hybrid experimentation with other classes since at least February 2012, just trying to see if I could make recon work (DA, Storm Driver, Electron Vortex, and Valiance, with Fallen set). This is just to say that no one person can really take claim for inventing anything haha. If he's the inventor of hybrid striker, then I'm the inventor of gun recon, haha.

I'm pretty sure there's plenty of players who used their gray matter and equipped both swords and guns to play with tactics.
For example, I use GF, storm, FF. Mainly using FF, which works perfectly, when I'm not sure what move my opponent will make next, I anticipate attacks from multiple directions. Shooting my storm in one direction then getting ready to face them on the other. There are absolutely no cons to this tactic with the exception that your speed will slightly decrease.
However, there's another advantage to this, since you fire your gun first you're basically paving the way for them to go, I like to think of it as taking the lead in a glorious waltz, they always go where you want them to go.
But since some of them are too greedy for damage they mostly just end up walking into my shot, which gets old after a few times, no need to ask me to stop shocking you if you're the one without patience.

Thanks for mentioning me, but l don't really deserve to be named against Huntr haha he was on a way different level, my Australian connection kind of pre-determined that l won't ever be able to become the best Guardian Bomber. To Vivideus, l think you have me mistaken for someone else, l don't play Striker due to my latency (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPkSZCRdKv4, heres what l have to put up with all day, everyday, and that's with a computer that can run Assassin's Creed IV at max settings 1080p resolution, before someone says it's because of my system being crappy). I'm a Guardian Bomber as a few people have mentioned here but l'm not an amazing one.

My two cents
Honestly i think fayeth is currently the best guardian bomber at the moment, hardly any one knows fayeth while people just throw huntrs name around because fayeth barely ever plays rld and only during gvg as far as i see and so he isnt as well known while huntr seems to be given more credit then he deserves i know hes good but i think fayeth deserves a solid mention. i swept through the list of names mentioned by people other then huntr and i think fayeth is far better then any name lve seen mentioned, njthug is good but he doesnt compare to fayeth and lve seen fayeth wipe the floor with pnusy. i dont know how good his connection is but judging from that link hes got it pretty rough so its even more impressive that he can do as well as lve seen him do.

OK, so here's me: A guy doomed to play with 0 bars connectivity and 1 four star heart pendant. Has to time everything perfectly or misses the target. A DA/GF combo from kats, snarbies or skolvers 1 hit KO me. Relies on pride and dignity to keep auto-target off. Relies on trusty lvl 10 WRH ASI med, lvl 5 Acheron and other equips such as GF,BTB, FOV and voltedge. 2 wep loadouts and my current 5 star set being vog coat and divine veil. Personal best 12.9k dmg and 16 caps.
So am I a noob?

Any decent player with more than half a brain cell can think of bringing at least a gun and a sword for short/long range.
