i always think after i bid "what if i get it before that ends" so why not allow Knights to cancel a bid or as an option when making an auction. i have programmed in many different types of code (c,c#,c+,C++,java). i know i would not take much time to make such a thing possible.

No.

Here's an example. Let's say I bid on a wolver coat. I bid 1,200 crowns, then another knight bids for 1,250 crowns. I spend my 1,200 crowns because I got an outbid. The knight who made a bid for 1,250 crowns wants to cancel the bid. It doesn't work because I spent 1,200 crowns on something else. Therefore, bid cancelling won't work.

"You are obligated to complete the transaction with the seller if you purchase an item through one of our fixed price formats or are the highest bidder as described below, unless the transaction is prohibited by law or this User Agreement. If you are the highest bidder at the end of an auction (meeting the applicable minimum bid or reserve requirements) and your bid is accepted by the seller, you are obligated to complete the transaction with the seller, unless the item is listed in a category under the Non-Binding Bid Policy or the transaction is prohibited by law or by this Agreement. By bidding on an item you agree to be bound by the conditions of sale included in the item's description so long as those conditions of sale are not in violation of this Agreement or unlawful."

However, most auctioning systems have an option to withdraw a bid, after a lengthy verification purpose. This most likely won't work for Spiral Knights: GMs have better things to be doing than to be correcting people's misbids.
In the case of the Auction House, where we do not have a method to identify who is selling us the item, nor do we have a way to correct a misbid. I do agree that some sort of auto-rectification process could be implemented. The problem that stands currently however, is upon being outbidded, your money is immediately returned to you. What do you expect to happen when you withdraw your bid? For the money to be stolen back off the person and dumped onto the item that you outbid them on?

Taken straight from ebay. Ignore unbolded text:

"As a general rule, you can't retract or cancel a bid. Once you place a bid, you agree to pay for the item if you're the winning bidder. A bid or commitment to buy on eBay is considered a contract and you're obligated to purchase the item.

Please remember that every bid is binding, unless the item is listed in a category covered by the non-binding bid policy or the sale is prohibited by law or by our User Agreement. Bidding on multiple identical items should be done only if you intend to buy all of the items.

Your bids affect how other users bid for an item and the item's final selling price. We carefully investigate all bid retractions to determine whether they are appropriate and conform to the rules for buyers. Abuse of bid retractions can result in the suspension of your account.

Bids retracted within the last 24 hours of a listing can be viewed as an example of shill bidding, which is a serious violation of eBay policy."
