Should Spiral Knights add new weapons types? Like crossbows that are two-handed so you can't equip a shield ,but are powerful? or bows that have quivers that hold different types of arrows you can shoot. Such as freeze, fire, poison, shock, stun, etc. Maybe two-handed swords ,when sheathed their on the Spiral Knight's back? Finally mounts or a game that requires mounts that's similar to lockdown and the mounts can attack monsters. I've been thinking about all these things for Spiral Knights and I needed the share them so here we are!

This actually would not be a

This actually would not be a good idea for some good reasons

1:theres are guns so bows would obviously be much weaker then the average weapon plus would be extremly slow vs guns so thats a no
2:Crossbows? are two handed and you have to have a shield im 100% sure OOO will never remove a shield from a knight (but might consider)
3:Just imagine LD with a two handed sword a 1 hit kill like the warhammer wasnt bad enough
4:The 2 handed weapon would be much much slower then the average sudaraska or triglav and thats wayyyy to slow to even be a good weapon

Although i like the idea you want something new i think that its very very unlikly something like this will work.

Crossbows are not 2-handed, they are 1-handed variations of bows that allowed faster firing speed. There are some larger crossbows that are 2-handed, but a majority of them are 1-handed. Also, if crossbows were ever added to the game they would just simply be guns, similar to how the Rocket Hammer is labeled a sword.

There are already 2-handed sized swords in the game, and knights show the ability to wield them with 1 hand with no problem at all. There would be no reason to make a 2-handed sword. You could, however, design a ferw more 2-hit swords similar to the Sudaruska with new mechanics.

We already have battle sprites, why get mounts too? And the idea of having them attack automatic is ill-thought out, as this game should require the player to do most of the work. Otherwise we could just throw out an AI controlled battle assistance thingy and let it do all the work, while we just sit back and watch them do everything.

Masterreeve.

Who the [REDACTED] told you that? The majority of crossbows that were produced before the invention of gunpowder were in fact two handed. The crossbow began as ballistas, and it took a bit of time before the crossbow could actually be sized down to a one-handed weapon. And even then, gunpowder was already on the verge of being developed when one-hand crossbows were produced. Crossbows were often used in seige defense/sieges, and were quite a bit more powerful than a longbow. They were easier to produce, as they did not need to be made from a single piece of wood as longbows were, and you did not need to practice with a crossbow for years to master it. Heavier crossbows with cranks called "arbalets" were devloped later, which were even more powerful and were easier to load (due to the crank mechanism) that were also used in siege defense/sieges. Arbalets were powerful enough to pierce through a cuirass, and are actually what is misnamed as a crossbow in the Skyrim: Dawnguard DLC.

Mounts would act as a way of moving much faster, but that would be pointless. They are large and thus still make you an easy target. The ability to travel over extreme distances as in Neverwinter or WoW is not present.

I actually came up with a suggestion a while back that you could mark a box that would make you hold certain, larger weapons in two hands as a purely cosmetic option.

@ Arkate
Sorry, I'm not that well versed in the history of weaponry. I was mostly going off of the many games I've played that had crossbows as weapons, and most of them had them as 1-handed weapons while bows 2-handed (Final Fantasy being the prime example)
