Dragons are kind of cliche, but have a lot of potential as otherworldly creatures with intellect. Like what Dark Souls did with their dragons. Rather than making them just mindless enemies, they made them more on par with other powerful NPCs.

Since dragons aren't real, it would also be easy to make dragons that have more interesting powers than what you'd expect. Kind of like Maleficent.

SK has some neat status effects, but they don't exactly work too well.

Ice: Freeze resistance doing next to nothing+freeze locking = bad status

Fire: Is OK, overall I think that fire is the best designed status effect- save for the bit where no one knows what exactly it effects and how much from the get go. Good against zombies.. bad against kats? If it were my first time playing the game, I'd have no idea how to use it.

Poison: Is a bit wonky and un-tutorialized. It lowers defenses, and makes monsters take damage from healing... but 80% of people don't take advantage of, or know how to take advantage of etc. the damage from healing, which is really poison's strong suit.

Shock: Is basically just fire but elemental. It too is un-tutorialized- "This is a status that does elemental damage" would be helpful somewhere. Especially with fire doing "fire damage" instead of an actual damage type.

Stun: Is a pretty nice status to have, but doesn't usually last long/do much. Stagger storm fixes this and makes it work, but pretty much everything else doesn't.

Curse: Is pretty neat, but kind of oddly specific and rare. Has a serious design issue with weapon slot upgrades- which are basically resistances. Is also glitchy and off with monsters, who don't have weapons.

My favorite is probably stun with stagger storm- that is a well made item. My least favorite to receive is probably shock or fire, or ice if I'm about to get lumbered/vented to death. That just sucks.

If OOO improves their moderation+makes the game worth sharing, I will definitely go advertise it more. But if I'm going to get banned for the occasional foul language that, most of the time, I post unknowingly, then no. I will not promote their game.

Actually, I quite enjoy it. A lot of the time there isn't enough to post about on the forums as is- between OOO being slow and me not having much else going on (waiting for someone atm) I'm glad to have something to do. Its a good time. A lot of attention, is nice.

I didn't think it'd go on this long either, or get this off topic. It was originally intended to mock the whole "how does X the master Y feel about Z weapons???", due to how there are objective truths that go by unnoticed by the masses, but I'm cool with talking about music and fruit and philosophy too. As in- "How do you feel about CIV?" > "It has a pretty cool look to it and makes you feel like you're really beating the enemies down, so I'd recommend it to anyone."

In terms of game design, there are three shields at Spiral Knights:

-Swiftstrike Buckler = high risk, high reward, feels great, cheap
-Barbarous Thorn Shield = less shield, extra damage, still good for defending, normally expensive
-Defensive Shield = lots of shield, no extra buffs, good resistance against whatever you're fighting. Costs 6-8 times as much as the others.

My favorite by design is probably swiftstrike, as it is the most balanced, fair shield in the game.

Barb shield is also nice, as it represents a legitimate play style-- even if it is a bit too powerful. The solution? Halve its defenses; give it shadow/elemental resistance at that halved level. Give it status resistance- but not full status resistance- as well.

Defensive shield is moronic. It offers good protection and a defensive play style, but to use it you must craft several shields to switch out every single level, all of which do the same thing. The solution? Take out all of the shields except one, which will have defenses vs everything.

All of the other shields should be made to do something new and unusual. Like explode when they break, or give your shield bashing a status effect, or reflect bullets, or heal the knight when broken by damage.

I don't think being a clone would change much, honestly. We're already clones of the same thing-- we partake in the same education system, and are taught the same morals by our peers and family. We watch the same mass appeal television, and go to the same chain restaurants. But most importantly, we all have the same set of goals, go through the same general processes, and work for all of it.

Slavery is a neccessary evil for Individualism to exist. In our day and age, it would make more sense to enslave the machine than our fellow man, but it hasn't always been this way. If you look back and imagine plantation owners or greeks and the slaves that they held, one particularity is that only the greeks or the plantation owners partoook in the higher elements of artwork-- wrote sonnets, or produced fine art. This is because they didn't have to work. Slaves, and factory workers on the other hand (despite their superior numbers) did not achieve this.

This doesn't justify slavery in the least, just as it doesn't change basic human rights in the least. But what it does do, is provide a picture of what necessarily must happen for us to be free from the basic fact that we are all, in some way, clones, slaves, or what have you.

I use maskeraith, and I already use the existing winmillion. Your 5* version of it sounds actually rather balanced.

As for the chances, I think it depends entirely on OOO's progress on the gunner update, which is another matter unto itself. Maybe it isn't done at all. Maybe they're fixing to release it. It is impossible to tell. If I had to bet, I'd say that yes, we'll probably get the black kats next week or so, and then the gunner update will be the week after Valentine's day. But I'm quite shaky on that bet, because OOO might not be done then. They might postpone it indefinitely due to more content being included in the update. They might test it a couple of weeks in advance. I don't have enough information to make a better guess.

I like the jelly cubes. I think that they are well designed and fun to fight, because they have relatively well defined weak spots, predictable attacks with plenty of time to dodge in spite of the good ol SK lag.

I dislike the slag. Slags are from the zombie family, which is weak to fire. Slags are the fire variant, and are thus magically immune to fire. If OOO is going to give monsters weak spots, I think that they should make these weak spots apparent and that they shouldn't make certain monsters magically immune to their weak spot. Instead, fire slags should be weak to ice or something. Their information should say that they are weak to ice when you target them or get near them as a bomber, and a blurb should tell you what the ice does to them during a loading screen.

I dislike the devilite. Devilites are monsters that can attack faster than the latency, meaning that in some situations you cannot shield their bullets fast enough. They highlight a weak spot of the game, and take advantage of it.

I dislike the griever. Grievers offer little explanation of their tactics aside from rushing and killing new players. Without understanding the flinching mechanic behind the game they are impossible to kill. The game never tutorializes the flinching mechanic, aside from past experiences. The flinch mechanic varies from depth to depth, as well as from enemy to enemy, so to predict that the grievers can be fought back with that mechanic is nearly impossible.
