I played a game with the OP last night, and the other team was so incredibly mad.
trollin ain't trollin til someone gets mad ;v
You're missing some backstory guys.
Pewpew likes to spam polaris. A lot.
So he gets yelled at. A lot.
So as I've told you before Pewpew, it's not about people taking LD serious.
It's about you ruining other people's fun.
Can he score 18k Polaris/Supernova only and make one of his teammates ragequit, though?
Feyi nailed it as usual.
I'm starting to think we were separated at birth bro.
I don't understand why people who spam Polaris think it's so hilarious. Being annoying is so cool. You special snowflake.
From my own observations of LD.
I have concluded that the following guilds have the highest amount of those types of people per capita:
1. Jempire
2. 3-way tie between Genios Programadores, The Exceeds and The Terminators
3. Team Phillipines.
4. Lionheart and assorted guilds
lmao, grug "and SK is more fun than finishing college"
There is a difference between using a Polaris and just flat out abusing it just because. O.o Not sure why my guild was listed, we're usually on the receiving end and have to bite our tongues.
^
that is from my own observations.
I should also note that the gap between 1. and 2. is a very very big one.
There will always be competition in any game with pvp.
Not sure why some people are throwing me under the bus when this isn't even about me. It's like this community feeds on negativity and needs to single people out or they can't sleep at night.
Anyways, I appreciate the input that one or two of you had to offer. Future posters, feel free to stay on topic ;)
I think Polaris spam is on topic.
@OP
Because you are a hippie who just does stuff for no reason????? And that makes people around you seem serious???? Spot on???
You just have to respond to everything, don't you?
When people get mad over something as trivial as the way someone else chooses to play a game, in this case Polaris (I guess), I think they're taking things way too seriously. And not only mad, angry enough to feel the need to publicize it the way an 8 year-old would if s/he didn't get their way. I just find it incredibly immature and am wondering why certain people can't understand that it's a video game and shouldn't be taken seriously/personally. Everyone should be able to play it the way they want to. To take that privilege away from anyone is straight up selfish.
Everyone should be able to play it the way they want to. To take that privilege away from anyone is straight up selfish.
Ruining other people's fun for your own amusement is equally selfish.
/sigh.
This is really hard for you isn't it?
It's not the video game that aggrevates people. It's the fact that you put your own notion of having fun before everyone else's.
Behaving like that in ANY situation where people are forced to co-exist will get you negative reactions.
Let me try to explain it with a real life parallel:
There is no rule that says you can't smell like a trashcan filled with rotten fish.
You're not gonna be welcome at the party anyway.
There is no rule about using Polaris.
You're not gonna be welcome at the party anyway.
Also, when calling people immature, try not to make the OP immature. We'll perhaps take you more seriously.
@Sciriously and FAAyi: People can spam what they want... If the others don't like it they should leave the game or learn to dodge...
Welp, there's no point in arguing with God.
ALL HAIL THE HYPNOPONY.
I'll take it from here then feyi.

Well, the summoner pony called me so I will defend the art of the polaris spam. I often use polaris but I can see that the people only rage because of polaris when the shots hit them. If they dodge it, they won't say nothing about your spam.
I'm trying to say that the people only rage if they can't dodge or if they got shock.
So, get another hands or learn to dodge.

You can't think for yourself and you need to use phrases of other people?
man this scirio guy is boring.
not even arguments, just copy paste quotes.
"I often use polaris but I can see that the people only rage because of polaris when the shots hit them."
Pardon my french but, no [scrap]. If I beat you while you are using polaris I would definitely stop in the middle of a cap point and complain while I got other enemies on my tail. Essentially you are defending a weapon which produces moving shock bombs which requires little to no aim to hit with AND you are the guy who complains about AA in the game. The only reason you defend polaris is because you use it so you can't insult it's use. Anywho, have fun with the logic "if it hits, then people complain"...
Since we're all doing quotes and stuff...
"GTFO." - Contri
"Who are you?" - Feller
"It's not JK..." - Batabii
"Mother of LBT Sandwiches" - Luguiru
"I am the best." - Contri
"Mecha plz." - Psychodestroyer
"Conspiracies!" - Mawa
"Bombs suck so few people craft them anymore." - Magnus
"Boswick's fault." - Everyone
"Njthug is Eurydice." Everyone
"Are you my friend?" Artistbma
"I saw, I conquered. So sue me Julius. Caesar has fallen." - Psychodestroyer
"What's that? What's this? Why that? Why this?" - Xtweeterx

Anyway, Draagnel won the thread. GG.
@Djnoobis
There are too many people who do random spam, that shoots hardly ever hit the people. I aim with polaris and I'm not defending the polaris because I use it, You won't see me having complain if my enemies use polaris. I'm not French and I don't complain about AA, I got complain by the people who use AA and they say they don't, people who think is good playing thanks to the AA.

Simply astounding.
I am not a pola user but:
-Polaris is one of the easiest weapons to dodge.
-Polaris requires to be aimed to places where you predict your opponent will be. This makes difference between average pola users and experts (Pony, Feller, Exceta...)
If you have ever seen a dragon in a pinch, you will realize that this was only poetical exaggeration applied to any hobbit, even to Old Took's great-granduncle Bullroarer, who was so huge (for a hobbit) that he could ride a horse. He charged the ranks of the goblins of Mount Gram in the Battle of the Green Fields, and knocked their king Golfibul's head clean off with a wooden club. It sailed a hundred yards through the air and went down a rabbit-hole, and in this way the battle was won and the game of Golf was invented at the same moment.
i had planned on taking the smarter choice here and just not post in the thread, but then i saw a bit too much of people justifying playstyles by claiming individuality or stating that telling other people how to play is selfish, and pretty much did this, and considering it's pretty apparent this thread was made with an axe to grind, i guess it's time to just kick out the supporting pole to the circus tent and watch everything fall down
so, first things first - it's generally accepted that polaris "spam" for lack of a better term (really, it's more like using a bucket of water to put out a candle) is pretty much frowned upon, regardless of application. arguably so, considering the gun has a "good chance of causing moderate shock"? what this basically translates to is that each individual hit has as much chance of shocking as a storm driver and voltedge. and in the event it doesn't shock you, well you may as well just walk away anyway in most cases, because you're already knocked far enough back to where using your armor abilities to get close again puts you at a disadvantage. in essence, this "most common" use of polaris is the one that everyone complains about, and is also the one that the OP tends to apply the most, and i say that having seen it in action. it's basically a weapon that allows for so much room for error that you can't go wrong with it no matter how you use it - support gunning, primary only, using it to piss people off, it does all of these insanely well.
to the point that it's gamebreaking to most people. so there, you got the answer to your question.
i say "to most people" though, because your average player's not gonna have enough experience to weave through enough shots and close the gap to land enough hits to kill whoever it is before they do what they came to do. and your better than average player just isn't going to bother because it's a waste of time trying to chase down one person when there's 3-5 other people that they can go hunt down for damage instead. which leaves it down to a handful of people who do take on enough polaris players to know how to deal with it, which usually still ends up not being worth it but it does enough to take care of the threat to where the game at least ends quicker.
so where does that leave us? it's either ignore the polaris or hope someone on your team has enough skill to take them down consistently, or at least keep them confined to one corner of the map so your own team can function properly and pray to god they can cap? yeah, that doesn't seem like much fun to anyone, does it?
you can't necessarily claim "i should be able to play how i want" if it means you're subsequently ruining how everyone else wants to play, either on the other team or even on your own team - i can't tell you how many times i've actually told my own team to stop polarising so i can see what i'm doing. so if you're still having trouble grasping the point here, i'll leave you with this and just make it a point to keep whoever it is polarising on the respawn counter.
In an argument involving both AT and Polaris. U-U
I use neither of them. I don't complain much about stuff in Lockdown in game. Scirio throws some quote at me, ouch.
Momo's Fun Facts: Good chance of Moderate Shock is 50% on a neutral resist target, and these chances increase if the enemy has negative shock resistance!
Polaris FAQ
=====
Q: What is the chance of getting shocked at least once if you get hit by Polaris twice? (Neutral shock resist)
A: 0.5 + 0.25 = 75%
Q: What is the chance of getting shocked at least once if you get hit by Polaris three times? (Neutral shock resist)
A: 0.375 + 0.375 + 0.125 = 87.5%
Chances are even higher with shock negative resist.
=====
Generally the problem with Polaris is not only is it a great keep away/turtling tool (think hadokens from Street Fighter) but it's too good offensively too--all you need to do is hold off choke points until the enemy messes up and gets shocked, then you go in for the kill. A dedicated fighting game like Street Fighter balances this by giving every character projectile invincible attacks for the sole purpose of punishing players who abuse projectiles.
This issue is compounded when two people use Polaris at the same time, since 1 is pretty manageable. Having your own teammates shoot Polaris from different angles doesn't necessarily help, since now you have a whole screen of flying green orbs and not know which ones to dodge.
It's too good for minimal effort. There are of course "better" ways to use Polaris, but there is almost no punishment for spinning randomly and shooting Polaris in all directions too.
If it was Fair Chance for Minor Shock, it'd still be really good.
Even if it kept Good Chance for Moderate Shock and did the same damage as Argent Peacemaker, it'd still be really good.
But it is just too good a weapon, offensively and defensively. Given that something like a bomb needs to be charged, can be interrupted, has no invincibility frames, and can't touch people who shoot guns, a flying Good Chance Moderate Shock bomb seems a tad unfair.
Ruining other people's fun for your own amusement is equally selfish.
Fun is subjective. I'm ruining the fun for a select group (however, not intentionally). The group who refuses to adapt to a situation. The group who wants to win easily. You don't seem to understand the meaning of "equally" if you actually think that what I do and the idea of giving everyone the freedom to choose their way is on the same tier.
@Feyi - You seem to have a huge problem with me because of my choices for some reason. Choices that don't effect anyone's life in the slightest. Choices that should actually be relatively irrelevant in the grand scheme. Yet, you persist... I'll give you the time of day since you're giving it to me.
As I previously stated, the word "fun" is subjective. You make it sound like my actions will be the end of worlds when it doesn't matter. I'm actually confused with you because you seem to be personally hurt because of me. I even tried to be civil with you after you felt the need to personally message me about why you're so upset, but apparently, you're one of those players who deems a person's character based on the way they decide to play a game. It's plain childish to look at anyone like that when you don't know anything about an individual. Just a tip.
"People can spam what they want... If the others don't like it they should leave the game or learn to dodge..."
This fellow gets it.
@Rete - Great reply! /salute
"Fun is subjective."
I suppose simple minds give simple statements. Sure it's subjective, however, it's just common sense not to do something the majority of the people disapprove of. Let's make it simple enough for even you to comprehend, sure your friends (if any) wouldn't mind you calling them jerks, but that doesn't mean you should go around calling everyone you meet a jerk just because a small group of people don't mind it. Point being, while it's subjective, it's also generally frowned upon and a small group might not mind but the majority does hence it does not justify using the polaris. Calling feyi childish because he stated the obvious you failed to see is a bit redundant, don't you think?
Let's get some facts straight.
I don't have a huge problem with you. I have a huge problem with your mentality though.
Your choices affect people in every situation where people must co-exist, wether you choose to ignore them or not.
It's not a 'select group' you're annoying. You're indeed ruining the game for probably 75% of LD players.
It's kind of ironic you seem to consider the people opposing you as people who 'want to win easily'.
Polaris is easily the most overpowered weapon in LD, as Momofuku kindly explained.
You spamming it is no more than that; trying to get an easy victory with an OP weapon.
Irony pt.2: I'm childish, but you can call people 'basement dwelling man-children without lives'.
GG.
You agreeing with Contri on how people should leave the game for what you deem 'fun'
(oh look, we can discuss the meaning of that word for both parties)
is just plain arrogant. You're putting your own needs/wants before those of 11 other people in that situation.
This is NOT a situation where I can't adapt to LD meta. (You're pretty mediocre at LD at best and I have a set that's immune to polaris.)
This is a situation where I don't want to adapt because that would be losing the fight for a cleaner, better lockdown.
Since you don't seem to want to listen to reason when it's coming from me, read Retequizzle's post again.
It contains all the ways in what you're doing is wrong. Solid logic explanations.
If you still feel the need to spam polaris games to death after that, there's no hope in changing your mind.
Before I answer your question answer mine.
Why take anything so seriously?
