Should I upgrade my Avenger?

With the lack of radiants this came to mind, im thinking of getting a Avenger but dont know if I should upgrade or not. I mean, the DA charge is better than the Avenger one, but without the possibility of getting a CTR med easily im in doubt. I want to use primary in FSC.

From what I've heard other people say, a 4* item is as strong as a lv.7 5* item damage wise, but with CTR bonus.

If you have the Radiants to get past that point, then go for it. If not, then don't.

As far as balancing CTR as part of your plan, generally you'll use charge when fighting a really big mob of monsters or have someone with a vortex (though if you have someone else using vortex, I think it's better to use regular slash on them if you're using heavy swrds). The extra large mobs only happen in a few rooms, so you can do fine without the CTR.

[edit]Forgot about the DA 3 projectiles instead of 1 thing. It's probably worth it. The damage difference between lvl 5 and lvl 8 are probably only 1-2 extra attacks' worth of damage :l

I still prefer charge attack most of the time for divine avenger, or at least as initial attack, you still waste a bit time chasing with enemies you throw around anyway. Back in my newbie days, charge attack is a lot more safer than regular attack since monsters are more predictable than players in pvp. I rather running away/in circle for 3+ seconds then get in contact with monster for a split second (that does somewhat similar damage as full combo attack) than stuck at one/two fixed position for 1 - 3 seconds. Divine avenger charge is far better than avenger. However, CTR Med is too slow for my taste. If I were you, I would plan for another ctr equipment like trinket, or a single piece of chaos, combined with other fire resistance armor/helmet. Having radiant for level 5 is already great, level 7 is just kind of extra, I think.

As others have said, Divine Avenger's damage doesn't really catch up to Avenger's until about heat level 8. And you'll sacrifice some CTR too. On the other hand, three projectiles is a big advantage over 1. I would upgrade DA as soon as you have enough radiants to take it to, say, heat level 5.

I did.

And I have absolutely NO regrets. At level 1 I can one-shot a lumber on elite, and take down a full lichen colony with the charge. and deal large amounts of damage to crowds and stuff. Divine avenger is now my #1 favorite charge. Did I mention it completely demolishes everything in Jelly farms? I wonder why no one complain to nerf it. I feel to overpowered. As for ctr, just use a sprite perk boost. They get medium. And if you have bad luck with sprites use a ctr trinket. Health trinkets don't help too much anyway.

DA was my 2nd 5* weapon I made because I was one of those weirdos who farmed Roarmulus Twins (my first being the Fearless Rigadoon, which I no longer use because I have a CTR high Furious Flamberge :/ ).

Anyhow... I got too bored of the DA charge, it was all too simple and too devastating in my opinion, so I made a Triglav and derped around with that and other weapons I've made over the past few years.

I second Bopp, get it to heat level 5, and then work on some other weapon.

I thought DA with total stats of CTR VH and ASI Ultra was OP.

Then I started useing chaos set with combuster...
