Aequitas Style: Gun juggling (Thrillhaus), Polaris juggling (Rawrwarwarwa), survivability was our speciality. Basically our standard load out would contain FF - GF - Valiance - Polaris OR FF - Valiance - AP/Sentenza - Polaris (We created this method of playing using other peoples styles [Thengel, Seiran*, Namewithnumbers, etc.])
Thrill was the brains of Aeq and taught me, tmdals, rawr, etc. how to play properly. We didn't all come to LD and automatically become the best lol.
Tmdals was our best brandish player, Rawr was mr polaris, I just followed these two. And thrill was the best.

another thread i decided not to post in until i saw where it went

it's getting kind of sad watching this thread though, considering the only person who's speaking highly of aequitas is the one player who refuses to come back to establish that he can do more than just reminisce about the good ol' days

don't get me wrong, i love playing tm and dravor when they're on, but they're also subsequently the only two who are just fine letting their playstyle speak for themselves, and in essence are the last two "aequitas" players who lend any sort of credibility to what you're saying

and also, don't get me wrong - i'm not saying that you, whoever else was in aequitas and what have you, weren't good back in the haydays of LD, when no one knew what did what, but being the pioneer of a set of tactics doesn't necessarily make for a good argument either - we could use the argument of how the colonists of the revolutionary war broke from traditional war tactics of lining up and firing as the british were and chose to go with more guerilla style warfare, which has been built upon countless times since. but if you put a colonist up against someone from the civil war, world war I, II, or any of the other wars in modern history, and both sides used "similar" tactics or styles, it really wouldn't make a difference who came up with it first. which is, subsequently, how you're presenting yourself at the moment.

@Retequizzle: I appreciate the comment. I myself am regretting taking it further than the first comment. As I stated in that first comment, I am not here to brag that Aeq was the best. Originally I commented so people can get an idea of how to improve rather than focus on ping and kills.
I never talked in RLD, I only talked in GLD. Was I the most modest player? No. Tmdals and Dravor are very modest and humble, you are correct. In all seriousness, my original intention was derailed with Contri's comments and for that I apologize. Cya everyone! Enjoy LD.

well guns make sense for survivability.

I just can't get over certain people who can do so well without using them.
There aren't many left, but again, the two main people I see doing super good without guns are Jumamiza and Skybrandon.
Survivability? most games, they heal off of the dead enemies. That's how little damage they take.

How do you expect me to endure reading your post, when you are (I believe) playing with optimal latency, and spitting nonsense about HOW A PLAYER WITH EXCESSIVE PING to do what you are claiming is what LDers should focus on?

Then really, "DEAL with it"? Oh, of course you are going to say that, when you have no clue about how do people with high ping play. Then you go on to praise how specific Aequitas players used to play. Ok, I would be a dumb***k if I say they didn't have ungodly skills, but for the love of God, DIDN'T THEY HAVE OPTIMAL PING AS WELL?

Unless you are/used to play with an absurd amount of ping, then in a blunt way, you should keep quiet.

He has pretty damn high ping and he plays just fine. Therefore; it can be done.

And what I meant by "DEAL WITH IT" was more so; LEAVE or PLAY. Complaining about it does not make the lag go away. Three Rings will NOT be implementing any assistance on this issue, have people not noticed that? The lag doesn't go away if you don't live in the US. Also my comment was directed more towards the comments of this thread, not the actual thread itself. Not all Aeq were US, we had some canadians, some people in Europe, I think one in central america? We just didn't talk much about ourselves so how would you know if we were all from France or Spain? I did play with reasonable ping, except SK always crashed for me, almost every match I would get choppy lag and even when I played in EU server, most of my average stats stayed the same. I know it can be done, or else I wouldn't have said that. I can sit here and name players who have been in Aeq before who have been successful from another country. Or you can look at other guilds like Bestias who took down Jempire a couple times from another country.
I'd appreciate a less hostile comment.

I think the perception is that he was one of the early successful/influential hybrid strikers, similar to how I was one of the early successful/influential recons. Or gun recon, anyway, cause my swordplay/footwork is terribad :[

I think I've heard the term before (I think someone proposed showing me, but I was like "I'm fine" lol), but I'm assuming gun juggling is either weapon switching (single/double switch) or if not, ways to chain successive hits.

Gun juggling is where you chain successive hits by firing them in such a way the player runs in to them.
You shoot right-left, opponent dodges one but runs into the other. Repeat at infinitum.

It's not a great explanation but then again I'm no gunner.

What Feyi is trying to say: You create a wall of bullets by shooting at both sides of the player. The player can't only move backwards to avoid the bullets.
So Player B is shooting at both sides of player A. This limits player A's movement space. Player A can't move forward, because it is too obvious and the gunner will hit him. The way out is running back, since staying still will result in his demise. The only other way is to dash through the wall of bullets.

There have always been, and always will be, two things that determine whether or not players will be "skilled": connection and UVs. Irregardless of the effectiveness of these with respect to each other, it's amazing that people still associate "skill" with lockdown. Lockdown will never have competitive elements unless if players all reside within the same bracket; that is, 4 bars and ASI med+ (or high+/VH, whatever helps you sleep at night really).

Lockdown is built as a MOBA and plays well as a MOBA, but with pay to win elements, autotarget, bad servers, and broken weapon mechanics, there's nothing to this game that can even be considered a "competitive gaming experience." You got 30k? Congratulations on abusing broken weapon mechanics. You won a tournament proving yourself to be the best there ever was? Congratulations, you've beaten out all the other players that stubbornly continue to play on this broken platform. It's meaningless in the context of a real competition. inb4 encross so mad, he never won tournament, never broke 30k, ATnoob, etcetc.

My point is echoing Icegill. LD should be played for fun; put any competitive aspect into it, and you'll have a bad time. If you want to get competitive, do it somewhere else. Aequitas did just that: most went to 'nauts, I went to CS. Now we're playing real games.

'Connection and UVs' - 2 important elements of LD that are/can be effectively hidden. Reveal these details and people will stop talkin crap to each other. I spectated a match the other day where this moron from Lionheart was just saying something about having 'Lag' every 30 seconds or so then proceeded to gloat about killing someone while not wearing trinkets and having no UVs AND refusing to turn on full inspect. LD needs less of these idiots seeing as its overflowing with them right now.

at least 50% of LD players don't even understand why they're 'skilled', It's because they're killing bigger laggers most of the time and consequently getting high damage.

Gear balance is also extremely poor as most swords have what appears to be a 270 degree range of motion and the fact that you can correct it somewhat AT is just ridiculous as well as the fact that there's even an Auto 'Assist'. And the whole concept of a Movement Speed Increase is insanity given that most people have enough trouble apparently struggling with other player's 'range'.

So yeah 'skilled' LOL yes and I also believe Lance Armstrong wasn't on the juice. but 'fun', yes!

You just said that by yourself. "Just fine" means that he is doing OK. It's arguable that he won the no-AT tournament, and I don't doubt his skill, however, I'd like you to imagine what would he do if he had 20 ping. If he is playing with 200 ping, right now, and was able to hold on and win a tournament with that, then he would "Wreck" all of the "so-wicked" players we praise (Including the ones I praise, as well). So yeah, it's do-able, but you can't really be great without an optimal ping. And about Bestias, I thought they were mostly from South America, specifically the north of it, hence why I think their ping would be less hideous than ours, Asians to the EU and US servers.

I was playing around with the AT toggle with swords antigua and alchemer lines. I'll probably make a vid here showing how it's easily abused, though i'm scared it'll catch on :). Whatevs!!! It'll just add more variety which is always good. Namewithnumbers was really good with it, but I haven't seen him in a while.

The best players are the ones that formed the tactics that are now popular nowadays, which is one of the many reasons I do believe Thrillhaus is perhaps the best LD player I've seen (though Exileddread was pretty damn good.)

Before he came along, using guns as more than a sidearm to finish opponents was unheard of (since everyone was skolver, before chaos became everything ever.) But he showed a new way to play, weapon switching with guns (with great accuracy) when out of boost/reach with his toothpick, and when he did get in range with his toothpick he was deadly.

AT spamming with antigua/valiance and good conection is one of the easiest things you can do (and namewithnambers started spamming AT guns before Thrillnub, and Sciasz started using weird hyrid loadout before Thrillnub). I'm pretty sure at least 2 bars is sufficient to be 'good' in LD. LD is not meant to be played with less than 2 bars of connection. Things like UVs, Move Speed increase and the general pace of the mini-game require super human reaction times to keep up with the 'pros'. Before anyone mentions 'I know (someone) with 1 bar that can get 20k dmg' the answer is irrelevant because damage is reliant on the people you fight and yeah anyone (even 1-bar players) can get 20k dmg if they're just fighting laggers/lowbies all day, we're talking about beating up everyone across the globe.
