I haven't played in a while because i gave up. But now i kinda feel like playing again. I'm trying to decide if it's worth it. Here's a few questions i'd like to ask:
What's the fastest way to get radiant crystals?*
How many do you get each run?*
How long does it take?*

What's the fastest way to get crowns?*
How many do you get each run?*
How long does it take?*

(*On average)

I'm assuming the fastest way is to farm FSC. If so, how long does one run take and how many crowns/radiants do you get?
For crowns it might be basil runs - but i can't be bothered to deal with the market. I hate trading.

There have been countless threads on finding radiants. Try searching Google for something like "radiant site:forums.spiralknights.com". The short version is that radiants appear only at depth 28 or deeper. Each visit to FSC earns you about 3 (sometimes 0, sometimes 6) radiants. So FSC isn't a very fast way. Operation Crimson Hammer and Shadow Lairs are faster.

For crowns, you want to read the fantastic Lancer Knightz mission data.

Er

Well...

The "worst case" target is 453 Radiants (using the most expensive but 100% chance success forge).

FSC speed run (skip all monsters possible, do minimum work to get through floors)
Time: 20 (duo) - 25 (solo) mins
Radiants: 0-12
CR gain: 6.5k (and "3k" if you count 3 tokens worth)
CE use: 0

In comparison to:
FSC normal run (kill everything, complete everything)
Time: 30-60 mins
Radiants: 0-12
CR gain: 8.5k (and "3k" if you count 3 tokens worth)
CE use: 0

now, I haven't done the shadow lair for FSC but supposedly, UFSC runs are something like:
Time: 60mins +?.
Radiants: 40+? (I've heard 50-90, but I'm gonna go with a worse case here.)
CR gain: 20k+ (and "6k" if you count 6 tokens worth)
CE use: 450 (if you split costs with others)

Then you can sell off the material for more money, too.

For fastest results, you'd have to dedicate all your gains to buying the expensive Radiant Fire Crystal packs (50 for 700CE). So yeah, I think UFSC is the best case, but actually has an entry fee and possible negative effect to your CE.

Of course, the fastest choice is to buy 450 Radiants (and maybe use the cheaper options for the early levels to push it under 450) from Supply Depot:
that's 700* 9 = 6.3k CE, for however long it takes you to get real money to buy that much.

Correction @Bopp:
Radiants also drop (but very rarely) at d27 as well.

@Bopp
I did search google for the answer, but doing so simply swamped me with "where are the radiants" and "fix the radiants plz" threads. I knew where they were found, but i wanted to know what the fastest way was.
Thank you for the crown data, that answers two of my questions. c:

[EDIT]
@Serian Thank you c:

okay

Bonabopn, I pointed you to those other threads because that is where the community learned that OCH and Shadow Lairs beat FSC in this regard. They are the source material for this thread. But okay.

Seiran says that radiants drop rarely on depth 27 as well. It seems plausible, and players have mentioned it in other threads.

Seiran says that FSC yields 0-12 radiants. While it may be possible to earn 12 radiants, let me reiterate my experience in recent months: never more than 6, and usually 3, and sometimes 0. So don't be counting on anything like 12. Cheers.

Drops rate.

Actually, in the past 13-14 runs I've made in FSC, I just found 3-6 radiants per run, and mostly of them in the "secret" room.

OCH and SL, as Bopp said, yield more Radiants.

Wow, 15 or 18 radiants is amazing. Perhaps I am really unlucky. Thanks for the information.

hi

Please tell me about OCH radiants (similar to OP's question: time taken [preferably if you do it to treasure hunt instead of killing everything] and #radiants earned).

I can soon afford it with CE and depending on the kind of payout might prioritize OCH over a new pet lol.

@ OCH Question

I haven't recorded OCH yet, but it is slightly better than FSC. The reason is the same number of treasure boxes are 1 depth lower (D29) in OCH. I can't say how significant the increase is without recording some data for it.

As for crown payouts, even stratums and danger rooms with the most monster spawns give the best payouts. Check out Bopp's link for missions, and check out my thread here for arcade (not a lot of samples, but it's better than nothing. Pretty much arenas and clockwork tunnels because of danger rooms give best payouts).

If you do the search that I mentioned in post #1, then you will find threads in which people discuss OCH radiants. I don't have anything to add.

Time taken varies a lot from player to player, due to experience, party size, etc. So I have never seen reliable data on time taken. But the threads will tell you that you can run OCH pretty quickly to get the treasure boxes and the radiants therein. Yes, it is probably your best bet for getting radiants quickly.

While it may be simple to

While it may be simple to just do SLs for radiants, doesn't buying the energy for the key cost more than the crowns you get back? (Even if you split the cost)
I can't really be bothered to farm for money, since i'm saving up for things.

[EDIT] corrected 'OCH' to SLs.

@Bonabopn

You must be thinking Shadow Lairs. OCH is a 1-time cost, SL's require 1 key per run.
